Jetwing Kaduruketha
"One of the nicest stays at Jetwing Kaduruketha. Scenic views 10, food 10 and customer service a perfect 10. All the staff were really friendly and attentive. Special mention to Deshan for the exceptional service and always going above and beyond. The banana blossom starter is a must try and we loved all the local cuisine. From the GM to the entire team great job and keep it up. Also don’t forget to have a little chat with the locals too."
Big Game - Yala By Eco Team
"Good location, food average."
Elephant Trail
"Amazing place to stay with very friendly and helpful stay! Beautiful safari experience at Udawalawa National Park. Saw lots of elephants!"
Makini Bush Camp, Yala
"Amazing experience. The room was great, and the food was incredible. The real star was Koush, the chief ecologist. He went on safari with us, and we saw leopards and crocodiles. He was so informative, funny, interesting - just a really great person doing a job brilliantly."
Mahoora - Udawalawe by Eco Team
"I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I just didn’t really enjoy my stay. Facilities are very good - comfortable tents with good fans. The location is very pretty (NB although it is right next to the park, you have to drive 30 mins to reach the entrance). The safaris are very good, we ended up having a private one simply due to the fact that occupancy was very low! Siti, the naturalist was very knowledgeable and great at spotting all the critters. Food was a bit of a let down; we had an amazing lunch of rice and curry, but dinner is European-themed and as a vegetarian I ended up with… oven cooked spring rolls and chips? This sounds very fussy and spoilt, but at this sort of price point I expected better. I don’t know if it was just that we were the only guests, but everything felt very weird and lackadaisical. There was a schedule of things posted but we were told it was out of date and then…. None of those things happened. For example there was meant to be a night walk, possibly it didn’t happen because it was raining? We signed up for a cooking class but it was just watching someone cook chicken (that I don’t eat, being a vegetarian). Pretty place, good safari, nothing was bad; but at the same time felt not worth the money we paid. We stayed 2 nights and thought that with hindsight one would have been enough. I’m aware that this review sounds very spoilt! Perhaps it just wasn’t for me."
Centauria Wild
"I visited Centauria Wild Resort with an Israeli group, and I experienced wonderful treatment from the staff at the hotel and in the spa. I especially enjoyed the amazing massage SEETHA gave me. She took care of me with all her heart, dedication and professionalism. She has hands and a heart of gold - I highly recommend this hotel and especially her as a masseuse. Thank you very much 🙏"
Elephant Rest Udawalawa
"We are a family of 4 adults and stayed here for one night having travelled down rom Ella. We loved it and really appreciated the swimming pool to cool down. This is brilliant value, close to the park entrance, tastefully decorated, great food and helpful staff who organised the safari for us. Would recommend."
La Pentera
"Our group of family and friends had an unforgettable time at La Pentera! It was a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Some of us went on an exciting safari, others enjoyed canoeing or learning to make rotti and everyone loved the village walk near the river. The evening BBQ was full of joy and delicious food. The eco-friendly houses were not only comfortable but also beautifully built to blend with nature. The staff’s friendliness made the experience even better. La Pentera is truly a place where adventure, culture, and nature come together beautifully!"
Kalu's Hideaway Udawalawe
"Pleasant hotel - a little dated but clean and comfortable. Lovely gardens where they grow a lot of produce for the restaurant."

Hantara Udawalawa
"For the price, this is an incredible find! The bathrooms are attached to the villa room, but are in an enclosed outdoor space. Surprisingly, the bugs were not bad, but some prophylactic Deet while sitting outside at their restaurant is smart. Wi-Fi is weak, so this is a great place to disconnect and enjoy nature. We also enjoyed our personal balcony overlooking the jungle while sipping our morning tea."
Funky Leopard Safari Lodge Bordering Yala National Park
"We had a lovely experience at the Funky Leopard. The hosts went out of their way to make sure we had a nice evening. They were helpful in organising a Safari with eco tours which we thoroughly enjoyed and transfers. Great value for money."
Leopard Safaris Yala
"You really do get the feeling of being in the bush here, yet you have the luxuries like aircon, showers and a pool to cool off in. The food they serve is clearly sourced locally, very fresh and made on camp. Don't expect 5 star resort choice rather home quality food which we loved, especially the Buffalo curd for breakfast. They take you on safari in their own vehicles and their guides(all university trained naturalists of various types) do know their stuff. We didn't see Leopards but plenty of others did, our bad luck. We did 2 safaris, others did more which clearly increases your chances of seeing them. It is dusty, hot and bumpy but if we enjoyed it and we are in our 60's its not that hard work"
Mandara Rosen Yala, Kataragama
"Came to Kataragama to see the Yala National Park and a couple of temples. While the safari in the national park was worth every minute we spent there, and Kataragama was interesting, even fascinating, this resort was ultimately disappointing, despite its clear potential and interesting if dated architecture. The service was below average, the atmosphere neither here nor there, the room big and comfortable, but old, which makes it hard to keep and feel clean. Value was ok, while the food was good, the alcohol choice was very poor and substandard. The internet was frustratingly slow and the power went off at least 3 times."
Kynrock Hotels & Resorts
"Our stay at Hotel Kynrock was truly a dream come true for my family. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us like their own family, making us feel so welcome and loved. After a long day at the Yala Safari, relaxing in the pool was pure happiness. This place is a little piece of heaven in Kataragama. If you are traveling with your loved ones, this is a must visit hotel."
Wild Glamping Gal Oya - Thema Collection
"Uncomfortable accommodation, roads in national park quite dangerous offering poor wildlife. Having visited other tented camps in countries around the world this was the worst experience. The tents are cramped, beds uncomfortable. Tent flaps ripping and require repair. No insect repellent offered or mosquito nets. Food OK and staff friendly. Our jungle drive in park took 7 hours. We saw just one wild buffalo, a spotted deer and some birds, Gal Oya river beautiful but roads terrible and at one point our vehicle nearly tipped over. The park had suffered after cyclone in December but maintenance required before it’s safe. Would definitely not recommend"
River Cottage
"Spent one night at this property. Relatively new property. They have Double and Triple rooms even including AC with some rooms. Simple rooms. Clean bathrooms. Nice dining area and relaxing area at the front. Most importantly, very nice river is just passing by this property called "Kirindi Oya". You can have a nice river bath as well and of course you better check the river condition with the hotel staff before getting in. Overall nice stay at Wellawaya."
Ali Weta Safari Resort
"We loved our one night stay. We were welcomed by the reception guy who was really friendly. Our trip thru the jungle in the old jeep was a memory for life. Loved seeing the elephants- majestic - very moving. Our evening meal - curry was nice Sadly no wine available. We did have a nice swim in the pool before dinner though. Only one other family staying so not busy. Thought it would be quiet but was woken early the next morning by building work above our room! Banging etc. Bit disappointing as they could have waited an hour or so until we left as no one else was about."
Big Game - Udawalawe by Eco Team
"Our safari glamping experience was extremely disappointing. The camp is located in open fields around a 40-minute drive from the actual safari area, which completely defeats the purpose of staying at a safari camp and was not made clear in advance. The food was inedible—without question the worst food we had during our entire time in Sri Lanka. This alone made the stay very unpleasant. Based on our experience, the reality did not match the expectations set by the reviews we read elsewhere. Overall, this place failed to meet even basic standards. I would strongly recommend avoiding it."
La Casa Safari Cottages
"Highly recommended, the service was so warm and attentive. The host was very kind, we were welcomed with refreshing drinks and had a great evening with amazing freshly prepared curries that tasted wonderful. We booked a safari with them and everything worked perfectly. We saw all kind of animals and after a successful morning we had breakfast just prepared for us (vegan). The food was in the Safari price included. If your looking for an authentic warm atmosphere, this is the right place for you."
Mailagama Cinnamon Residence
""The staff was lovely, the food was very tasty, and both the room and bathroom were very clean. The view was great, and overall it was a very pleasant stay. We will definitely come back.""
Funky Leopard Safari Lodge Bordering Yala National Park
"Located between Karatagama town and Yala National Park Karatagama gate, much quieter than other park gates. Essentially equipped room, clean and well maintained swimming pool. Breakfast and Dinner is decent and properly prepared. Staff is friendly and helpful."
