Quality Inn and Suites Newport - Middletown

The breakfast variety and quality were praised. Guests liked the spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly, professional staff. The location was convenient for exploring attractions and dining out.

Disappointing. The breakfast was okay. It was nothing to write home about. It was hot so there was that. It was severely limited and often stuff wasn't replaced if you showed up in the last 30 minutes of the stated time. The pool area was a joke. I almost twisted my heel coming out of the pool area cause there is a BIG STEP down, so that is not even ADA compliant. Dated so based upon other reviews I would say they have not done anything since 2014 cause it was BAD. Housekeeping lacking (had to request towels, trash emptying, bed not made). The housekeeping would lie saying they did it when they did not. There was stuff next to the nightstand and next to the bed when I checked in. So they obviously don't clean well. They also didn't clean the vents. I am an asthmatic, so this was a no go. I had basically an almost daily Convo with the front desk on their cleaning and was assured time and time again they would do better. I was there an entire week and it just got worst and worse. I heard more personal convos with their housekeepers on their phones then actually see them working. One night I had to even change my own sheets. I routinely had to go get towels. I never had the quality time door placard on so there was no reason to not do my room. Ultimately this hotel elected to not only take my deposit of $150 for "damage" that they said was because of a towels and sheets and was told to me if I charged anything to the room but charge me another $150 for a replacement for towels/sheets/ mattress. I stripped the bed at the end of the stay so I know no replacement was necessary and took photos cause something told me not to trust them. I am glad I did. They charged me after I left on a credit card without my permission or even notifying me for the other $150. I reached out to Choice Hotels to lodge a complain with them. I did find out that they are a franchise. I strongly encouraged Choice Hotels not to renew that license, cause it gives them a bad reputation. I had built quite a bit of points with Choice Hotels, but knowing that I know now...my relationship with them is over. I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend it unless you have money to burn for a mediocre stay.

Room for improvement. Food was left by the previous guest in the fridge. The pillows were small and lumpy and basic items were missing.
