Newport Beach Hotel & Suites

The best views!! Brandon did an excellent job securing my room with these amazing views!! Kristin was incredibly helpful & knowledgeable with all things for my stay here & in Newport!! I can’t wait to come back!!

I recently stayed at the hotel, the Suite part which is behind the main hotel. From the time I walked in I was already disappointed. The carpet in our room was frayed and torn. There was a dishwasher that when I opened, the whole thing came right out from under the counter, inside the washing machine wash covered in soap residue. Now move into the bathroom. Yellow stains on the tile, the showerhead, faucet and tub spout wear ready to fall off the wall. I touched the shower fixture and the whole thing could have come off in my hand. Regulating the hot water temperature was also a problem. Mildew outside of our slider, just put some pride into your facility and stay up to date on the maintenance. Obviously not a priority. Just when I thought the stay couldn't get any worse it did. I never write reviews, but I definitely felt the need to regarding my stay. We never have a problem paying for something that is nice, we want a great experience while we are away. We paid over $1600 for two nights. We received an email while we were there asking how our experience was, that's when we started to go into some of the things we were having problems with. The emailed back and said they would take off the resort fees, $85 total. I said that was an insult to me. I then sent pictures and videos to the email and the got back to us offering a 20% refund and resort fee credit for the total of the bill. By that time, I was truly disgusted and took their offer. Well, it has almost been a week, and my husband is still waiting for the credit to be applied back to his credit card. We definitely will not be coming back, nor would we refer any of our friends to either.

This place was such a disappointment. I'm preparing for a night in Room 227 with NO AIR CONDITIONING!!! The AC worked fine initially but simply stopped this afternoon for no reason. When I called downstairs (using my cell phone since the phone in the room doesn't work), Mike came to the room and said he couldn't do anything about it - engineering was gone and he couldn't move us to another room. He suggested I open a window. When I asked about getting some sort of discount given the significant inconvenience, he said I'd have to discuss it with the manager Brandon in the morning - clearly he viewed it as my problem to resolve. When I asked for Brandon's card, he said I should go down to the lobby to get it - keep in mind that it's 10 pm and I'm in my pjs. He then started complaining about his back problems and made it clear that he didn't appreciate being asked to provide a card. He then returned, changed the thermostat batteries - which didn't restart the AC unfortunately. When I asked how they handled emergencies, he said that they have engineers that stay until 5, 6, sometimes 7, but insisted "we're not the Marriott". This is where I agree with him completely - clearly, they don't even ATTEMPT to provide the service of a moderately priced hotel. My (prepaid) average nightly rate at this property was $330.65. I'm sorry, but at that rate I should expect basic, minimal customer service. The high temp today was mid 80s. My weather app shows a temp of 74 at 10 pm. Paying $330.65 for a night without AC is NOT acceptable - and the horrible attitude simply pours salt in the wound. Future guests, please be warned as Mike stated, "They're not the Marriott."
