We recently returned from a 2 centre stay in Mauritius, Jalsa Beach was our second hotel, it is clean, staff pleasant, the food was ok, hotel not busy so not a lot of choice, food was hot and could always find something to eat. breakfast chef would cook eggs to your requirement. We were there for our wedding anniversary and the decorated our table and made a cake, so made it a special day. The ground kept tidy. not much of a beach but can go out in a canoe or glass bottom boat. get a taxi to the market it is an experience

This is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay at. Believe the other reviews when they talk about the terrible food; lukewarm and repetitive. The hotel is no better than a poor 3*; there is no beach (don't trust the photos); the drinks are sugary and watered down; there is nowhere to purchase snacks; there are stables right next door and they have at least 12 dogs which bark night and day. The rooms are clean and the housekeepers are great but the rooms are tired, dark and dingy. There is absolutely nowhere to go to around the hotel. There's a bus once an hour into the nearest town, 20 minutes away. During the 2nd week, we didn't eat at the hotel and chose to eat out each day. There is very poor entertainment; just two lovely chaps who do their best to play music in the evenings. The French guests are given blue wrist bands and are invited to take part in special entertainment events, which looked to be a half hearted attempt to keep them occupied. There is no atmosphere whatsoever; I felt sorry for the teenagers who had nothing to do. I didn't meet anyone during the two weeks, who were happy with the experience. The only positives were the lovely staff and the great laundry service. Spend your money elsewhere, preferably on the north of the island where there is a wider selection of hotels and places to walk to.

My best friend gifted me a day pass at Jalsa Beach, keeping in mind it was a non-alcoholic package and located not too far from our home - as we have a baby and my husband is away. We shared the same comments after spending a day at the hotel and here're few tits & bits of our experience: •Decent price for a 6.5 hours non-alcoholic package inclusive of lunch with soft drinks, afternoon tea with snacks, pool facilities and water sports activities •Lunch atmosphere was made cosy by the staff and the food quality and variety was fair enough •Afternoon tea and snacks were good too •Pool vibe were pretty calm, thus a peaceful retreat •The birds chirping and a cute little cat made the environment very tropical and pet-friendly A special thanks goes to the team who kept a note of my birthday and thoughtfully served me a cake at lunch (least expected) Mr. Rishi, the hotel manager, went above and beyond, and gave us an extra facility as our little one was quite fussy. Can't thank you enough, and so glad we still have such hospitality in Mauritius. On the other side, reception can be a little swift and simple entertainment can be improvised such as Live music or just background music - at the pool and restaurant to make the atmosphere more vibrant. Ending with a recommendation note, for families who wish to spend a day at a hotel (in budget), do visit the place 😀

The grounds were OK as were the rooms...it is 3star...however the male staff are as miserable as sin....not a single smile over two weeks I spent there...the food was beyond horrendous....I did speak with the food manager on more than one occasion....the food was never more than Luke warm....most people just ate a lot of bread....the lack of fresh fruit and salad for such a hot country was inexcusable....I was given a plate of tomatoes on two occasions when I asked...the choice of drinks is also extremely limited and I can assure you that is not how a pina colada should taste!

Were due to stay on 1st August, i dont ever write a pre stay review ( Always review good & bad experiences because I find them helpful so I try to be helpful & we travel several times a year). Ive emailed the hotel on a couple of occasions regarding personal requirements & have found the replies promt, professional & accommodating. Hopefully Vanessa is true to her word & has gone above and beyond to be make our stay perfect. While im lay on the beach towards the end of our stay ill create a true review that hopefully will be positive. Looking forward to ticking Mauritius off our world 🌎 travels....see you soon 🍸⛱️

It’s a lovely beautiful location & it could be a really good hotel cause the staff are great, It needs to be injected with some atmosphere I get that guest want a bit of peace but some background music would be better, their isn’t any activities during the day apart from kayaking or wind surfing in the sea but theirs nothing around the pool, the entertainment at night is very minimal, the food not the best, I have to say it’s not one off our better holidays & im sorry to say I wouldn’t recommend this hotel even tho the staff are excellent & they work with what they have, Very disappointed to say the least.

Wish I'd listened to the reviews! We booked a 'deluxe Seaview room' and yes while we had a gorgeous Seaview the room was basic at best. Old tired furniture, very poor lighting in the main room( virtually hanging off side of bed once it was getting dark as only bedside light!). There was a mini fridge in room but were told we would have to pay to have anything put in it. The restaurant was very tired and dingey. The 'food' was awful. Lukewarm and tasteless, frequently same for lunch as we had the previous night. Bread very dry, Pancakes served stone cold at breakfast and at pool on a tea time as snacks. Snacks available during day but again chargeable! Drinks mediocre. My husband caught his leg twice on broken tiles in various areas of the pool, not badly but enough to draw blood. As previously stated in another review we witnessed cruelty to the stray dogs that occasionally wandered onto the resort, they never bothered anyone as they were only looking for food. Surely the hotel could set up a corner in the grounds for food and water!! We got there on the Tuesday and by the Wednesday night I was contacting my tour operator asking to be moved, which unfortunately didn't happen. Absolutely no entertainment in hotel unless you were French. There was a board up offering full daytime activities which we never saw being offered and evening entertainment was very poor. The hotel has a lot of potential but noone seems to be interested in utilising it. Definitely won't be back and would not recommend. I forgot to mention the beach, if you could call it that. At times it was virtually inaccessible as rather than moving the seaweed that was washed in, it was piled up against the little jetty bit used to access the beach. There was quite a big pile by the time we left
