Rather isolated hotel. You really need a car to visit beaches and nearby towns. There is one bus (286) twice an hour to the town of Flacq (market on Wednesday/Saturday) but the last return leaves at 5.00p.m. (4.30 at weekends). The lagoon is very picturesque but only a very small rocky and sandy beach. Rooms are spacious with decent balcony. Good power shower in bathroom but no shaver power point. Cleaning well done on daily basis. The food choices are not cordon bleu but of good international buffet standard. (curries the standout). There is an improved salad range and more vegetable and fresh fruit options now. Very good range of drinks especially cocktails. One minus was the number of stray dogs and sleep patterns can be disturbed. However, the staff were unfailingly helpful and efficient.

Hotel is small , friendly , beautiful , well kept gardens Good pool, rather cold though Good sun loungers Lovely and clean Shame they have lost some beach to nature , this needs some work , old tyres , is not an appealing look Beautiful lagoon Good choice of food Extremely helpful and friendly staff Entertainment ok Gym is rather old and over crowded Massage was lovely , worth the money Rooms a little tired, some small touches , eg: extra pillows, towels, dressing table mirror , more lights , proper chairs , balcony chairs, sun beds , etc , would make it a more pleasing, experience Couple of stray dogs ,around , would be nice if the hotel supplied water for them and waste food , at night ,in a certain area maybe . Enjoyed our stay , the staff make you feel so welcome , they can’t do enough for you , full credit to them . The boathouse is a let down , you can apparently use the paddle boats , canoes , free of charge BUT it is too windy , water to high , water to low So you actually, never get to use them The workers sit in there all day , doing nothing , they could be useful and clean the plastic from the side beach This lets the hotel down and needs addressing . A beautiful place , just a few small changes and it would be great

Just back from an 8 night stay at this hotel. Had a great stay, the staff were always very attentive and lovely. The grounds were well kept & plenty of space to spend time in the sun. The small beach area (pictured below) was great to walk along or sit at with lovely white sand. The food choices were what you’d expect of a 3 star hotel, varied enough & always tasty so we were happy. Very spacious room (120) and always kept very clean by maids. I see people moaning about bugs in other reviews but at the end of the day it’s a tropical island in the Indian Ocean. The most we saw was wee lizards living in the grass outside! Overall I found nothing to complain about, and had a great relaxing week. Thanks to everyone at Jalsa :-)

We spent a few days here at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was friendly and the view of the ocean was lovely. The pool was very clean too. We'd be happy to come back in the future.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Jalsa. Having read all previous reviews, I’ll make my own opinion. It’s a 3 star hotel, in a hot country! We had a lovely time. Staff very friendly and try to please you at every turn. We found the food ok & edible. The drinks were plentiful. Very large room and clean. (307) Boat house (Youdish) very helpful in organising trips, far cheaper than the Reps. didn’t use Spar facilities so no comment. it was their winter, although still very warm, a few quick showers and warm wind most days. In conclusion, would I return, yes. Just because it says AI, a 3* hotel will not be the same as 5*. The holiday price reflects this.

This could really be a very good hotel if changes were made. My wife and I arrived at about 7pm after a long boring flight, we were quickly booked in and showed to our room which was quite large and looked very nice, room 118. We were told the restaurant was open so we dumped our bags and headed past the pool to the restaurant. We were so tired we never noticed our food. On return to our room we noticed two mice just outside our room patio door, but as they were outside we thought nothing of it. During the night I heard scratching but ignored it. The food in the restaurant was not good, very poor quality and not hot enough. At night in our room a mouse ran out of the shower room In front of us we opened the door and it went out, later my wife went into the shower room to see a mouse in the shower and it escaped behind the sink. We contacted reception who moved us up a level for the night, not much sleep that night. The next day we asked to see the manager for a room swap he was very rude and arrogant and said that it should be expected in a warm country, if we wanted to stop them getting in keep the door closed and put towels down at the bottom of the door! He then showed us to a different room 110. He wasn't pleasant at all and when I said people were saying that if mice were in the rooms they could also be in the restaurant and kitchen. The manager got a bit irate at the suggestion and told us there was no chance of that happening. The next day at lunch a woman on the table next to us screamed and two mice ran through the restaurant. When the manager came he saw us and looked very embarrassed and angry. The manager I was told later was the restaurant and food manager. We received no apology at all from the manager at all. He thought it was the guests fault for daring to open the patio doors. The restaurant looked nice, but the food was of very poor quality probably the worst we have encountered at an all inclusive hotel. Only one person who we spoke to said the food was ok. Even a rep told me everyone complains about the food. Drinks are limited in choice. Coffee terrible. The pool area was about the best part, very sociable. The female staff were really happy and friendly especially Coosie*. Who were brilliant. The men were good but not as friendly. Would we recommend this hotel. No
