Cycling around with the free bikes we can rent from the hotel, we thought we had made the best choice of stay for Mai Chau. The room was large and came with a huge round bathtub. Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we had during our time in North Vietnam.
Staff were always trying to help you.

This was an amazing place to stay. They had bikes for us to borrow and even yoga mats if you wanted. They have a traditional dance for show in the evenings and plenty of activities that cost extra like hiking and boat tours. The service was amazing. My favourite thing was the breakfast buffet. I woke up extra early to make sure I had a seat on the outside to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains while I ate.

This ecolodge located in an excellent location to explore the mountainous area of Vietnam. They have attractive and comfortable air conditioned rooms. Just a short walk or bicycle ride on flat paved roads to small local villages where you can experience the culture and lifestyle of very friendly people. The staff is so welcoming , gracious and accommodating. The restaurant has a limited but reasonable breakfast buffet of local and some western food. Overall we had an enjoyable stay.

Four of us came for a girls' weekend away from Hanoi. It is a fair distance of 3.5 hours but worth it when you get there. Our chalet with 2 adjoining rooms was spacious and clean, and had an amazing balcony with a great view. The chairs, however, on the balcony were so uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of, and secondly considering we were a group on four staying in the same chalet the seating area felt very separate so it wasn't like you could all sit together in the evening. The bathroom was slightly strange, a very large bath and shower area, but the wash basin was outside the room, which we didn't like. Gave up on hot water in the shower after the 2 days but the adjoining room said they did get hot water. The pool area was nice to sit and chill, also because the bar next to it didn't insist on blaring music so you could fully relax. The spa had promotions on which we took advantage of, the 45min hot stone massage was one of the best I have ever had. Dinner was hit and miss depending on what you ordered, and portion sizes of mains not consistent. Breakfast was much better than expected, I enjoyed the omelette station, fresh juices and crepes. Although more than 2 days and it would have become samey. Loved the bicycle hire, and appreciated the vast bike selection and that the bikes all seemed to be well maintained which makes a lovely change, was great for a cycle round the paddy fields and mountains.

Booked the presidential suite here. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to and from Hanoi which was great and the journey was excellent. The area is beautiful in all kinds of weather. Our room, although huge was extremely disappointing and definitely not worth the extra money. It’s like the owner thought about renovating it but stopped halfway through, a huge bar but nothing in it so it’s a total waste of space. Lots of the cupboards had no back and the room totally lacked personality and lighting. We had a lovely porch with a beautiful view and a small pool downstairs but didn’t use it much. The seating around the whole suite was extremely uncomfortable and hard, the bed was however, very comfortable. The pool at the hotel is lovely but the floor could do with a good clean. Food very average, not much of a selection of anything other than Vietnamese, which I love but husband not keen on, prices are quite expensive as is alcohol. Breakfast was also average, again, mostly Vietnamese apart from omelettes and lots of bread which can get boring every day so a better variety would have been great. Disappointed that the only coffee option was filter which was barely warm. We cycled to a local cafe nearby who had amazing fresh food and coffee at a fraction of the price. The staff were really lovely and tend to the hotel very well. As this is advertised as an eco lodge (not a resort) we expected to see eco friendly products in the bathroom with disposable towels etc but this was not what we saw. Delighted to see a no smoking policy around the pool and restaurant area but sadly not adhered to by other guests and not addressed by staff. The free bikes were great and I’d recommend taking one to explore the area. Overall, the area is beautiful and well worth a visit but would not recommend the presidential suite.

We absolutely loved this place in the beautiful countryside of North Vietnam. A great place to explore the village on foot, bike or moped. The hotel supplies the bikes. This place is authentic and the staff make it. The bungalows are very spacious and well appointed. Always fresh fruit daily. We had a private plunge pool which was very much welcomed in the hot weather. I would definitely return to this area again

Wonderful peaceful location. Avoid the weekends as often events are held across the village that can be very noisy. We have visited two years in a row, this time for 5 days. A children park has unfortunately opened just across from the best villas which can create a great deal of noise at the weekends and evening with children’s screams and equipment clanging. Again stick to weekdays and that noise is minimal. Staff are amazing specially the staff in the restaurant. Highlights are the pho, crepes with strawberry jam for breakfast. Their pan fried river fish, beef in blackened bamboo, their cake and especially their afternoon tea (low tea). Well worth the money. Have it late in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the day. Hot stone massage was incredible and fixed my husbands frozen shoulder and the pain I had been having in my back. Having a private pool was delightful and was several degrees cooler than the main pool so could enjoy it during the hottest parts of the day. Spend more than a day here. Borrow the bikes and explore far afield. There are many many villages around and don’t be scared of the main road. Bike single file and keep to the right. Cycle clockwise and you will be able to enjoy a downward glide all the way through the main town of Mai Chau.

Just spent 2 nights in a Deluxe Twin Room and I wish I could have stayed longer. The setting look out over the rice fields and the valley is so relaxing and dream like. All of the staff that I interacted with were lovely. The free bikes were in good condition and I enjoyed taking a morning cycle around the area. The breakfast was good, and for lunch and dinner I enjoyed trying meals at the local homesteads which are a short stroll away. Evening dance is a lovely inclusion. I would absolutely recommend staying here. They are doing some renovations during the day right now but they take a break in the middle of the day and the room that I stayed in was far enough away that I barel noticed it. Do bring ear plugs just in case as any noise does carry across the valley so if there's a late party in town you will hear it but earplugs solve this and I believe there's a noise curfew so once that hits the night sounds of nature is lovely. The shuttle to and from Hanoi is also super handy. It's a long drive but there is a brief comfort stop.

Be prepared to relax, eat good food and explore the countryside. The staff are so friendly and professional and rooms are very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend a stay at Ecoresort Mai Chau Beautiful pool and poolside bar. They are currently constructing a new day spa and pool area which looks wonderful.

We spent 2 nights there in the Tet holiday. This is my second time at Mai Chau Ecolodge. Rooms were clean, spacious and had a nice view. The lodge is located in a quite and private area. My family love to explore around the village by bike (they have free biking service)

"This is a fantastic hotel. Our rooms were very comfortable. The hotel is convenient to the central area of Mai Chau valley as well as to the bus station. I only wish we could have stayed longer than just one night before continuing on to other parts of excursion."

Mai Chau Ecolodge is situated about 1km from the main Mai Chau town and is a haven of peace from the busy main street of the town. We arrived just as the sun was going down and had the most fabulous view across the rice paddies, from the balcony on our bungalow. The bungalow was spacious and well presented, tidy and clean. We had a bath and shower, with plenty of hot water. We ate dinner at their restaurant on the first night, but I'm sorry to say, that it was only average - I think they'd "Westernised" to food too much and it was a little bland. The breakfast, the next morning was good, with plenty of options at their buffet. The staff here were very gentle, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our time here.
