The rooms are clean and the F&B team very supportive and courteous. The location is scenic and is green. The peacocks are an added attraction and add beauty to the landscape. The views from the property are good and gives a resort feel though situated in a very big city.

L’hôtel présente l’avantage d’être très en hauteur par rapport à la ville sur la colline Pasumalai. La terrasse du restaurant surplombe cette ville. Le vue est magnifique et l’endroit est donc, généralement, très calme. L’hôtel est constitué d’un immeuble central où se trouve le restaurant. Les chambres sont réparties dans la très vaste propriété. Il en est de même pour la piscine extérieure. Les chambres sont vastes, modernes et fort bien équipées. L’hôtel est très haut de gamme avec des prestations en regard. L’hôtel propose des soins ayurvédiques mais il est préférable de les réserver bien en avance. Côté restaurant, les buffets du petit-déjeuner, déjeuner et dîner sont excellents. Il est difficile de faire beaucoup mieux. Le petit-déjeuner et le déjeuner peuvent se prendre en extérieur avec vue sur la ville. Nous l’avons fait aussi le soir mais il y avait des moustiques et, de manière surprenante, des travaux bruyants à l’étage. J’avoue que cela m’a laissé un peu perplexe. Notons que l’hôtel est fortement sécurisé comme c’est le cas quasi partout en Inde.

Excellent service, amenities and food in a historical premises. Staff were generous with their hospitality and warmth. We thoroughly enjoyed a memorable cultural experience that resonates with the history and culture of the Temple City, Madurai. We experienced Tamil hospitality at its best at the Gateway Madurai. Miss Meena and Mr Pandian in particular were outstanding.

We stayed at Taj for our anniversary, and it was a fantastic experience! The staff went above and beyond by upgrading our room and adding some lovely decor to make our stay special. Everyone was incredibly warm and helpful, ensuring we had a comfortable and memorable time. The hospitality truly stood out, and we nappreciate the thoughtful gestures. Highly recommend for a luxurious and personalized stay!

beautiful historical hotel set in really extensive grounds with peacocks wandering around only stayed 2 days but had a pleasant stay lots of quirky areas to sit and relax. A little disappointed with overall cleanliness had a room with pool view but the windows were dirty and smeary, the bathroom shower stall cloudy the sitting areas dusty. I understand that's its a old property and wasn't expecting sparking new however could be easily solved with a good clean

First time staying at this property and we really love it. The rooms are big and spacious. Excellent vibe and view of both the main temples of Madurai. Excellent staff - friendly and hospitality is the best. Good food. Hotel is located on top of Pasumalai Hill, Surrounded with greens and with peacock roaming around - its an experience of its own.

There was so much to like about our stay in this huge sprawling estate on a hill. Location and view superb both from our room and restaurant and pool - a place to rest after visits to temples etc. Also lots of hotel life to enjoy so not too isolated. The staff were super. Special mention to Munusamy at the pool who shared his knowledge of birds with us during the morning early walk and when sitting by the pool, plus Kim in the restaurant - nothing too much trouble and great charm. Also thanks to our polite and professional driver from the hotel for railway station journeys. Thanks all. Only pain was not allowing auto rickshaw up when coming back from the city. Means swaps and waiting around and in one case rather comically another rickshaw driver taking us up the extensive hotel road. Also as no ATM at the hotel think money and also bit of a pain getting smaller change. Apart from that all v v good.
