Pure bliss on the banks of the Zambezi River. This was a beautiful experience in every way from the beginning to the end it was absolutely perfect. You wake up to the sound of hippos munching and birds singing. Wonderfully friendly staff, delicious food and a stunning lodge all surrounded by nature which shows a wonderful way we can live alongside the wild animals. I can’t wait to go back!!! Well done to everyone involved in making Royal Zambezi so special. Can i give it a 10 out of 5? 👌👌👌

My fourth time spent with royal was extra special, I got to experience it with my elderly father and younger brother whom it was thier first time on safari. It was a perfect stay, excellent service and hospitality effortlessly mingled between a raw African safari experience.

From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed like royalty. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel at home, with genuine hospitality and attention to detail. The lodge is beautifully situated, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The game drive was an unforgettable experience — we saw an incredible variety of wildlife, guided by a passionate and knowledgeable ranger who made the whole journey both exciting and educational. Every moment was well-organized and truly special. Whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, this place has it all. Definitely a must-visit and highly recommended!

I stayed at Royal Zambezi Lodge in May 2025 and had an unforgettable experience. The accommodation was amazing, and it was incredible to see wild animals walking right through the garden. The activities were exciting and well-organized, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I truly enjoyed every moment!

We hadn’t been to The Royal in a while—and wow, we truly missed it! Thank you for reminding us what it means when luxury meets the wild. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family and spoiled with exceptional service and mouthwatering food. The upgraded menu is absolutely incredible—every meal was a treat! We stayed in the newly refurbished Frontier Suite, which was simply stunning—elegant, luxurious, and perfectly placed with wildlife always nearby. What a truly special experience. We arrived without any fishing gear—but as avid fishing lovers, that didn’t stop us. Thankfully, The Royal had everything we needed. We've now discovered just how easy it is to fly in, use their quality equipment, and fly out again—completely hassle-free. It made the whole experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for creating such a magical getaway. We’ll definitely be back—much sooner this time!

This lodge, with its own airstrip, is the perfect pace to relax and enjoy the lower Zambesi region of Zambia. The hotel and lodges are luxurious, the staff are all wonderful and food is superb. A variety of game drives and river trips are on offer, ofeten tailored to suit individual needs. Views from the lodge over the river are lovely, with lots of game and birdlife visible from the lodge veranda. Our 4 night stay couldn't have been better and staff ensured that all our needs were met at all times.

Our stay at Royal Zambezi Lodge was nothing short of exceptional. This lodge stands out among the many me and my husband have been fortunate to visit across Africa. The comfortable rooms, warm and welcoming staff, and incredible guided activities made it a truly memorable experience. Our guide, Nasi, was a standout. His extensive knowledge and passion for wildlife made our game drives and walking safaris truly exciting. We were fortunate to witness a breathtaking lioness kill a warthog, a moment we'll never forget. Nasi's engaging personality and informative commentary added to the overall experience. We were also thrilled to learn about Royal Zambezi Lodge's commitment to community and conservation. Their numerous projects are making a positive impact on the lives of local people and the environment showing that the lodge really does care about it's overall impact for the staff, community and environment. The actual lodge itself has an abudnance of wildlife around it. If you're like me and love elephants, then you could sit in your room all day and watch as these beautiful creatures grace the water bank. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay Royal Zambezi Lodge, we can't wait to come back soon!

From the moment we arrived until we left, this was an unforgettable experience. The Staff, and especially our guide Leo did everything in their power to provide us with the best possible stay. This included seamlessly getting us onto a sunset boat cruise right on arrival and an incredible 14hours game drive deep into the park. And yes - the food is amazing and the rooms are a dream. 100% recommend.

We had an absolutely amazing time staying at the Royal Zambezi Lodge! The lodge itself was beautiful, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was exceptional. The wildlife was stunning, both close encounters on the lodge grounds (including elephants by our pool) and during game drives to the Lower Zambezi National Park.

We have just left Royal Zambezi Lodge after having spent 4 nights there. We are seasoned Africa travelers, having spent many decades in Southern Africa. This has been one of the top destinations we’ve stayed in. The situation on the mighty Zambezi is unsurpassed, the accommodation superb and the staff outstanding. Everyday brings a delightful element of surprise, vehicle safaris, boat safaris and even canoe safaris. Touches, such as a special lunch on a boat and sundowners on a sandbank in the middle of the river are such a treat. What a very special place. Our guides were so knowledgeable, thank you Nasi and Vincent for making these days memorable.

We were so fortunate to get Nasi and Lucky as our guides while staying at the Royal Zambezi. They are the absolute best. The lodge is beautiful, the food was amazing, the views were always filled with elephants, Cape buffalo, a hippo, and a lost flamingo!!! This lodge really is where luxury meets the wild. Nasi and Lucky made sure we saw everything we hoped to see including tiny lion cubs!! Lucky made sure we caught tiger fish while enjoying a floating safari. I’m not sure you could ask them something they don’t know. We looked forward to every excursion with them. They really were a lovely bonus to our already wonderful stay. We highly recommend the Royal Zambezi for your Lower Zambezi safari.

This was our third stay at The Royal (Sept 2016, Aug 2019, Sept 2023), and we hope to come back many more times. Everything about The Royal is outstanding: the food, the accommodation, and the people. The outlook onto the Zambezi is just stunning, with elephants almost all day every day, lots of hippos, occasional antelope and warthogs it you are at the far end, lots of birdlife, great butterflies and dragonflies. Although a bit bigger than some places we stay, it never feels 'corporate' - everything feels personal and friendly. The choice of gentle boat trips, canoeing, or traditional game drives gives a great range of wildlife experiences, and the guides are some of the best in the world. It doesn't matter at all that you are just outside of the park (the 'commute' never feels like a chore), and the wildlife is usually plentiful. Even if Lower Zambezi is is not quite a dense with sightings as some other parks, the experience at The Royal is more than enough reason to come back.

Accommodation was v comfortable, great showers, friendly staff and the food was fresh and delicious. Efforts to provide tasty vegan options for one of our group were highly appreciated. Game drives and walk were the real highlights: experienced and informed guide Joe made all the difference.
Response from Property: We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us here at Royal. We totally agree - Joe is incredible. The knowledge that he has about the wildlife, trees, birds and insects is really impressive. Actually anything to do with the African bush! We appreciate your feedback on our vegan meals as we are really focussing on our vegan menu at the moment. We will be sure to give the chefs your feedback. We are fortunate to have some wonderful local farmers around that we can support and get our fresh produce from. Hopefully it won't be long before we see you again.

Had our anniversary with my wife at RZL. Its a 30min flight from Lusaka, so you arrive just as fresh. You can also go by road, or arrange to be picked by boat in Chirubdu. Quite and relaxing atmosphere. Enjoyed the views and game rides, canoeing. Staff very friendly and helpful.
