First time in San Jose - we got a preferred club room - the view from the balcony was perfect . We had a tub on our deck too - that was nice sitting in the tub at night listening to the waves crash while having a beer. The resort is huge - lots of walking and lots of stairs - so be prepared for that. The room we had was spacious, very clean, loved the shower! The fridge was stocked daily with pop and beer. This was my second time staying at Secrets resort ( when to P.V. last Christmas) . The food at this one was good but not excellent for a 5 star place. We were there during hurricane Patricia - so some restaurants weren’t open - we had room service one night - tacos were good but the rest was pretty cold. The market place had a decent buffet for breakfast- the Crepes were my fav. The best restaurants imo were the Mexican and the Japanese. The Fajitas my boyfriend ordered- he said was fantastic. The sushi I had was incredible. The Cerviche at the pool area was great too! The best part of the resort imo is the Pools. The preferred club pool had an amazing view of the ocean. The main pool was huge as well - tons of room and you really had no problem finding a chair. We rented a Bali Bed for a day - totally worth the $$. The place was relaxing. Staff was super nice. A little slow at the pool some days but not too bad. Drinks did feel a little watered down at times. Also bring straws with you - they are really stringy with them. The bartenders in the preferred club lounge was excellent - they made the best martinis. Don’t forget to go to the cocoa cafe - mmmm the best coffee. Thank you Secrets for the wonderful week. Even 2 days we stuck in the hurricane - it was still fun!! Also you can’t swim here - so be prepared. Check out the marina close by - you can swim there - it’s a 10 min taxi ride.

Loved our honeymoon here! Even though the weather was rainy with hurricane lorena (and we had an earthquake)- the staff is incredible and went above and beyond to compensate. We found the Barracuda Bar and beach chairs overlooking the ocean on the last day….hardly anyone was down there! I don’t love the loud pop music playing at the pool so I was glad to have found the other spot eventually. We’ll be back 100%!
