"We were incredibly excited about our stay at Son Julia Country House & Spa, but unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of appalling. From the moment we arrived, we thought we had the wrong address. It looks nothing like the website photos or what is advertised on ***********! The decor is mismatched, cheap, and utterly tired. No one was at the door to welcome us or help open the heavy front door to assist with our luggage, which is not what you expect from a so-called 5-star hotel. The lobby was a depressing sight – dark, no lighting, no music. It was so dull that we genuinely thought the place was closed down. This set the tone for the entire stay. Our first night was less than enjoyable. After falling asleep and missing our dinner reservation at the hotel, we ordered room service. When the waitress arrived, instead of a warm greeting, we were scolded for missing the reservation and told that we should have “given our table to someone else.” I have never been berated by staff in my life, especially not in a 5-star hotel. We are paying customers, not children to be reprimanded, and the hotel clearly has ample capacity for all guests. The rudeness was absolutely shocking and unacceptable. Secondly, our room (the suite) smelled strongly of mold, and the shower smelled so awful that I had to clean it myself using shower gel. The glass partitions were covered in fingerprints that were clearly not ours, suggesting the cleaning standards were extremely poor. The room telephone is cordless & even after charging all night and saying on the screen that it was fully charged, as soon as we lifted it off the base the battery died & the phone had to be precariously balanced on the base to be able to use it. We mentioned this on the day we arrived & 2 days later the guy that they had said would come to fix it, still hadn’t arrived. Legend says, he’s still on his way. The ‘spa’ was a nightmare. When I went to look at the treatment rooms (room!!) I found a single mattress on the floor. I understand this is a ‘Futon’ style massage bed but the presentation & decor of the spa is awful & in no way luxurious. There is one professional treatment bed in there too but only one resident therapist available. It is not a fully functional spa. So you can’t have a couples massage (which they do in fact advertise) as you’d have to go one after the other. Upon heading down to the pool facilities, we found the jacuzzi water was brown, and the filter was clogged with hair, dirt, and debris – clearly months’ worth of neglect. I dread to think of what else could be stuck in there. When I showed the receptionist a picture, she dismissed it with excuses, claiming it’s cleaned DAILY and was “due to be done today.” I find that extremely hard to believe as that amount of filth cannot collect after just one day, let alone one week. If the water were tested, I’m certain it would be deemed unsafe. To top off day 2, the breakfast omelette I ordered was raw in the middle."

"The hotel was built in a 19th century castle and is very beautiful. Every corner is unique, beautiful and comfortable. The facilities are great! The price is right and the staff is very friendly The hotel's location is very remote and there is no connecting bus service. It is not recommended for those who don't drive. Otherwise, the transportation fee will be too expensive Breakfast and dinner were very good, but there seemed to be not enough staff and you always had to wait. But their attitude is very good There are tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, gym, bar, and spa, suitable for staycation away from the hustle and bustle of the city."

"The basic room is really basic. There isn't even a kettle... It was barely given any attention; the entire shower wall was covered in mold, which could have been cleaned. 360 turn to grab toilet paper. 2 head hits on the shelf above the bed… The whole property lacks design thinking. I'd say they're more focused on renting it as a whole, for weddings, etc., than on the individual experience, which is understandable: location, space, competition. But 3-5 details would make a huge difference. :) Nevertheless I think the other rooms are much better. They were just a bit tired, end of the season. The pool is fabulous; we were allowed to enjoy it after checkout, which was very appreciated, considering our flight was at 5:00 PM. The breakfast is excellent; thank you, Camila, for the delicious scrambled eggs and friendly chat; the rating went up that morning. 💫 But we won't be returning or recommending it to our friends and family."

"Booked all inclusive package only allowed 3 very small alcoholic drinks with lunch and dinner. This was not stated when booked!!! (We would have chosen somewhere else). The food was always cold even if you went as soon as it was available. No entertainment! Pool area was small and in the shade until late in the afternoon so not able to sunbathe. Do not book this hotel if you are expecting to be able to stay at your hotel and use all inclusive facilities unless your happy with soft drinks all day! More like full board than all inclusive."

Well located for us as we wanted to be close to Palma but explore the East side of the island (we had a car), so this was close to the highway and also close to the beach, restos, shops. Overall, a great stay."

"It started promising with a clean room (it's fine to have an average aged room as long as it is clean). It ended in one of the personal bottom three stays. You have a party in the neighboring rooms and their balconies until 4am. The night shift takes note however does not take measures to stop it. They are used to it. You get a promise that they leave a note for the day reception shift to look into changing rooms. You are being woken up by drunk neighbors again at 6am. Obviously again not the fault of the Hotel. However at around 7.30am you are able to speak to the day reception shift in a calm manner about the issue and you give them the option to correct the non-delivery of a sleepable environment (you do not mention a Hoja de reclamaciones as you assume they will understand that they are failing their service: a hotel is a place you pay money to sleep and optionally to eat something). Without fully listening to the issue at the hand you are being told that the hotel is fully booked and they can't do anything. So you need to make them aware now in a firm way that this is no state of staying/sleeping in this significantly noisy room nor the hotel if they can't do anything and that you are clearing the room within 30 minutes and will leave your stuff at the reception until they find a solution. After 30 minutes you receive the surprisingly promising news that they have found a room in a calmer part of the hotel. Thank god it is great to have calmness when you check in into that new room. Okay, so it was a bad experience to start with, you think it is fine and you can finally start with your well deserved vacations. Oh no, you are again proven wrong, the strictness they are lacking in making sure that you as a paying customer can get a good night's rest at least in the late-night hours, they are compensating at the breakfast buffet. You go to the breakfast buffet at 9:45h, at 10:30h sharp the buffet is already cleaned. The lights are being turned off. Which is fine, you just want to enjoy some of your last pieces of fruits. No, as said here they show their strictness: they come to your table and tell you to stand up and leave now. Well what a place which calls itself a hotel. In the army barracks they were more concerned that people can have a proper meal than in this place, where they literally tell the crowd three times within 5 minutes to leave their tables and then after the "grace period" they make a special effort to come table by table to make sure you leave (although they could just clean the other tables in the time while people just finish what they have in front of them - no big deal and as in every other hotel in this world, guests usually leave within 15, let's say max. 20 minutes after breakfast closure). Thus, a clear conclusion for this stay: Once HSM "Reina" del Mar, never again HSM. Adios."

"What can I say... the service was extremely unfriendly, we had dirty towels covered in other people's hair and a floor that hadn't been cleaned much. The bed sheets were stained and you didn't really feel comfortable there. OK for a party holiday but definitely not bearable sober. Breakfast was OK though."

"Deceived by the beautiful pictures on the internet, the reality is unclean, unkempt, dirty (including the pool and grounds) and unfriendly. The restaurant looks very dingy and the kitchen critical. The food is really inedible, and you'll look in vain for fresh produce at breakfast. Even though the manager Maria, who is responsible for everything, tries very hard, she is completely overwhelmed, which is clearly reflected in the quality. It seems that the guests here are mainly regulars who know how to help themselves and, above all, help a lot with the service. The hotel is not worth the price at all. When criticism is made, the friendliness ends very quickly."
