Hotel Villa Augustus
"Great location a short walk from the ferry port, on a side street off the main shopping street so easy to find. That was the only real positive. Stayed as part of a tour group. Rooms on the side street or towards the shopping area might be fine but my room backed onto the main road so was very difficult to sleep with the noise, even with windows closed & shutters and curtains shut in front. My bed squeaked loudly whenever I rolled over. Bathroom was a sort of wet room style but didn't feel well designed- some of the floor got very wet when showering. Toilet at odd angle, hairdryer was very old fashioned and inefficient and very difficult to shut bathroom window. Main power socket wouldn't work with my adapter (which worked fine everywhere else around Sicily)- had to unplug a lamp and use that socket instead. Breakfast was ok but quite limited choices, not many staff to clear tables or replenish food & everything happens in the central patio area next to reception, which then becomes very congested if other guests are trying to leave to catch ferries at the same time. Could have got over all the other niggles if I'd slept well but I didn't... Being able to sleep is the main criteria for any hotel to be judged by. "
Les Sables Noirs & Spa
"I stayed here for 2 weeks last year, and (pre covid) for week; but I had not left a review for either visit. I am writing one now, because I disagree profoundly with one or two of the (minority!) ‘less than perfect’ reviews i have just read. Our stays were about as perfect as a holiday can be. We loved Les Sables Noirs, and will definitely return for a third visit."
Villa Saracina
"The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable and is very comfortable and comfortable. It also offers a buffet breakfast, rich and varied. A very recommendable experience!"
Hotel Amarea - Aeolian Charme
"An absolute dream of a place to stay. Staff is beyond friendly. Rooms are beautiful and spacious. The hotel is situated 1 block away from the beach. This is your home away from home. Extremely safe. It's perfect in the summer because you're seconds away from jumping into the beautiful sea. And for winter it's the best place to stay for a digital nomad. Wifi works great. I would give 10 stars if I could."
Hotel Cutimare - Aeolian Charme
"This was my first trip to the Aeolian Islands. A bit of a hike from Catania airport but well worth the effort (bus to Milazzo - 1 hour - and then hydrofoil ferry to Lipari). The hotel is charming and clean, and the staff are extremly attentive to guests' needs (My A/C unit didn't work, so I got an upgrade to a junior suite with terrace) and friendly without being invasive. The sea views and dawn sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking from the roof terrace where you can also enjoy a pre-dinner/pre-lunch drink. Excellent breakfast buffet and I'd recommend halfboard as the restaurant on the top of the hill (you get picked-up and dropped back at the hotel) has excellent fish fare even on the set menu, as well as a fine wine selection, available by the generous glass. The beach is right in front of the hotel and has sun loungers available. The beach is also volcanic stone which is where the hotel takes its name: "cutimare" means "ciottole" in Italian or stones. Buy a pair of rubber shoes in Lipari to save your feet from experiencing excruicating pain getting in and out of the water, although the locals walk across the stones effortlessly. This was not my case! However, the stone beach has an upside - not an ideal place for young children and families, so the beach is almost "adult" only and quiet. On my final Sunday in June, I had the beach to myself. The sea is crystalline. I used taxis but if you have a car, there are some lovely places to visit around the island or you can do a boat excursion from Lipari to explore the other islands. I added a week here after holidaying in Trentino, Barcelona, Spain and Minorca and, of all the places, I loved Lipari and Cultimare the best. In fact, I'll be returning to Sicily at the end of August. And I'd like to go back next year ... Happy holidays, folks!"
Hotel Villa Enrica - Aeolian Charme
"The hotel is a real gem embedded up hill of the village with a stunning view. It has a lovely swimming pool, the accommodations are very comfortable and clean, the breakfast is just amazing and the staff is fantastic. They have a shuttle to the village and can organize daily tours to other islands, including the amazing trekking to the vulcan Stromboli."
Malvasia 70
"The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable and very comfortable. The hotel is located in a very quiet area, near the centre of Lipari, and the hosts were very friendly and careful, always available to help us with recommendations or what we need. We would be happy to stay with you. ¡ Thank you for a very pleasant stay!"
Kyma Suites
"We couldn't find anything better in Panarea: a comfortable b&b, completely renovated with so good taste, inexpectable cleaning, excellent breakfast. Thanks and sympathy by Salvador and Antonio. And then I have my turtle that reminds me of Panarea."
Hotel Al Togo Fitness & Relax
"The room is very large and all colored. The location is very beautiful, there is also the pool and is located a few minutes walk from the center and port. The staff is comfortable. All just perfect for a holiday."

B&B Antico Palmento
"We couldn’t recommend this B&B more. The host Nicola is so helpful, kind and friendly. He organised so many trips for us and even gave us a lift to the port when we departed. A really great host. The room was so clean, bed sheets and towels changed every few days. Breakfast was marvellous, with fresh croissants every day. Location is ideal. Canneto is just outside Lipari so it’s a bit quieter, great for a good night’s sleep! We were able to get a bus just outside the B&B to go to Lipari in the evenings which was fairly regular. Definitely recommend Antico Palmento! "
Hotel Eros
"This is a cozy hotel located near two nice beaches and close to many good restaurants. Every member of the staff is super friendly and doing their best to make your stay memorable. They will help you with boat trips, rentals etc. and give good recommendations on where to eat. Breakfast is for Italian standards good with both sweet and savoury items and drinks and snacks at the pool/bar are reasonably priced. The garden and pool are very well kept. A daily bottle of drinking water in the room would be a nice gesture for the guests. "
Hotel Bougainville
"Very well-kept and clean hotel in an excellent location, 10 minutes from the port and the center reachable with a pleasant walk; it is also possible to use a free shuttle at set times, in addition to arrival and departure. Very beautiful garden with swimming pool overlooking the sea and the town. It is possible to rent beach towels at a cost of 6 euros for the entire stay. Good breakfast which is a buffet both sweet and savory although I would have liked to find some typical products. Praise to all the staff in particular to the receptionists, and above all to the breakfast girls always kind and smiling."
Gattopardo Park Hotel
"This is a rather large hotel with a very good location. However, it need some renovation soon and a more customer oriented management. If you just want a place to sleep, it is good and prices are reasonable. Breakfast is poor if you like a healthy selection with fresh fruits etc. There is a very limited selection consisting of water melons and prunes. No fresh tomatoes, pineapple etc. There is a large can of Americano coffee, but this was not always hot. A counter is available if you want a cappuchino, espresso or other types of coffee. When we tried to order americano there, the guy got rather angry and said something about «paying extra» in Italian. There was no que for the coffee so we did not understand his attitude. When explaining that the large can had no hot coffe, he accepted to make us two americano. And the same story repeated itself for 5 days. In the reception one of the managers recommended a restaurant in the mountains close to Lipari and said she could call them and make a reservation and organize transport, since bookings could only be made per phone. We thanked her, and said we would think about it. The next day we asked the reception if they could make a call for us, but then another employee told that they dont make this kind of calls for their guests. We managed ourselves and had a nice dinner. A hotel stay consists of many details and in Hotel Gatopardo the details are not olways in favour of the guests. The next time we will try another place for our stay."
Il Gabbiano Relais in Stromboli
"The apartment was clean and simple with all the basic facilities. The staff were lovely and very helpful and patient with our limited Italian. The pool was beautiful. The location was great...not too far to walk anywhere but still quiet. The reason why 4 out of 5 was the beds were very hard and our bed was two beds put together that were slightly different heights. The showers were very small and there wasn't always somewhere to lie by the pool should you want to."
Vulcano Blu Residence
"When you look at the photos, you might be tempted to assume/hope it's a little better than the photos look - but I reassure you it's worse. And service, in the photos...does not show. If you arrive to the island by ferry, you will then wait 25 mins in the blistering heat for their shuttle to arrive (it's a 5 min drive), and then another 20-25 minutes while they wait for the next boat and cram you all into a van (1 more over capacity of the van) because they don't want to leave anyone behind. Upon arrival, I hope you brought your bathing camp - otherwise that'll be 4 EUROS, as will any/every item you might wish to eat, unless you packed the contents of your fridge with you upon arrival. Oh, also that glistening pool? That's another 10-15 (maybe even 25?) Euros.... Can't remember exactly but we booked for the pool, and were incensed we had to pay extra. Also, the wifi only works in the common areas, so get ready to have screaming kids in the audio background of your zoom call. And no connectivity in the quiet of your room, with its thread bare sheets and mini sized towels that also align to the ramshackle shower from a motel in the 80s, and soap bottles that are 1/6th full. Ah yes, paradise. And then when you ask for an early morning shuttle out - they will say yes, confirm, and then forget - leaving you to walk the 30 mins with your luggage to the port - least you miss your ferry out of there. Book at your own risk or enjoyment of disappointment."
Hotel Carasco
"Exceptional view. Rooms were so clean and tidy. All of the staff were so friendly and kind. I could have stayed there for many more days. The private jetty out the front of the complex meant I was able to complete my morning ritual of ocean swimming with ease. The food is also amazing. Something that made the stay extra special was the sound healing therapy and yoga. Soo Zen."
Hotel Villaggio Stromboli - Isola di Stromboli
"We particularly loved the setting; the view is unbeatable. The breakfast was simple but very pleasant. All the staff were friendly and professional, and we appreciated the transfers to and from the port. The bedrooms and bathrooms were simple and fairly small, but that was fine for us - although the facilities are not new, they were clean and comfortable. This is a simple, family-run hotel; those looking for luxury should look elsewhere but those looking for comfortable, authentic accommodation in an unbeatable quiet setting will be delighted. Thank you to the Villagio, we hope to return again one day."
La Piazza Luxury Hotel & Spa
"The hotel offers nice clean rooms, a tasty breakfast and a pool with an amazing view of the sea and some rocky islets. The reception is open all day and has well English speaking personel; which was very handy when the islands tsunami alert went of while I was hiking and I called the hotel to ask what I should do; luckily it appeared to be test; hotel was so nice to call the coast guard to check. Also the hotel offered tips for hiking. From the hotel you can make amazing hikes to the bronze age village at Punta Milazzese, the Puna del Corvo Peak, the Castello Rock and Calcara Beach with fumaroles. Since the hotel is very close to the port it is also easy to make a short ferry trip to Stromboli's remote village Ginostra with amazing views to the volcano."
Hotel Tritone Lipari
"Unfortunately all expectations of staying in a nice hotel were disappointed. Not only is the Tritone hotel not at the level of a 4* superior hotel as mentioned, but I believe some things are essential for all hospitality facilities, such as cleanliness for example. Very low level of hygiene, they don't change the sheets, after 4 days I made an express request and the "new" sheets were dirty with stains (probably blood), the bed has a spring mattress which is really very uncomfortable to sleep on, at the camp bed level, not sure hotel! The shower was also very uncomfortable, there wasn't even a small shelf to place the shower gel on, you have to shower while holding shampoo and everything in your hand! The hotel does not change sheets, towels and bathroom products. The bathroom and entrance wall have always remained dirty (never been cleaned in a week) with blood stains from killed insects. There is no water in the room, not even a coffee maker or a kettle for tea or instant coffee (unacceptable for a 4*!). The reception staff is not friendly, it seems like a hassle to be at customer service, they really don't have this concept. There is no concierge desk and the reception staff is not available to provide the service that should be there! The pool is disappointing, the hydromassages didn't work, and there is no towel service, you have to go to reception and request a beach towel there (they don't even have the hotel's beach towel, never seen it). The breakfast is obscene, based only on canned things, packaged food and fruit in syrup, there is not even a choice of fresh fruit or savory foods, the service is very slow and even the à la carte food for dinner is not fresh or cooked well . The general impression is that the hotel must save money, on everything and for everyone. I would certainly have changed hotels if I had not booked through the Avventurisole agency, which proved to be absolutely not up to managing its customers and not professional nor serious even towards the hotel. We pointed out when booking that one of the guests was vegan and it was confirmed that we could assist with dietary needs, but not only was this not the case, but the agency actually boycotted its customers, attacking us verbally and also through Whatsapp. Never experienced a situation like this and what's more when you want to spend a holiday in peace and for this reason you book through a local agency to avoid any kind of problem! Speaking directly to the hotel, they wanted to give us a refund, as they claimed that the agency had not informed them. In any case, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel, too many problems which clearly are not taken into consideration and the result is a ruined holiday for those who have paid for a luxury holiday."
Hotel Ossidiana Stromboli Center
"The location is excellent, just a two-minute walk from the pier. The air conditioning works well, but the rooms are rather small, making it suitable for people who want to climb the volcano, stay overnight, and catch the boat the next morning. However, staying in a room with a view of the volcano from the window is a great advantage."
Residence Hotel la Giara
"Hotel near the center. Large but poorly maintained rooms. Staff absent. I slept all night with the air conditioner dripping inside a pot (placed by me) because although I immediately informed the staff upon my return I found the same problem... Below I leave the photo of the pot full of water!!! Honestly, if it weren't because I paid in advance I would have left. I basically ended up between a rock (water dripping with the air conditioner on) and a hard place (air conditioner off and the heat dominating). Basic breakfast."
Therasia Resort Sea and Spa - the Leading Hotels of the World
"We had a magical 4 nights - thanks to the dreamy sunsets, the breathtaking view of all the other islands (having stayed on 3), and most importantly each team member at the hotel. You were all very professional, but fun; very kind and very generous, making a birthday extra special and memorable. Heartfelt thanks to ALL. Lisa & Chris, England. Ps. Early/mid May a great, peaceful time to visit."
Hotel Villa Cute - Hvc
"Service was excellent, the hotel staff was very friendly and professional at the same time. Whatever we needed they tried to make our stay pleasant. They gave us assistance booking the trip for Stromboli and Vulcano, that was an amazing experience! Our room was comfortable, clean with a very nice view of the town and the castle. In the morning we had breakfast in the terrace with a great choice of delicious foods. The location is quite and we enjoyed the wonderful swimming pool. Great place, we would reccomend it!"
B&B da Luca
"We booked B&B da Luca on recommendation from friends. It is surrounded by beautiful thoughtfully designed gardens with stunning views of the sea and rocks. The villa is attractive and bedrooms clean, spacious and comfortable. However, the charm of B&B da Luca is the warm Sicilian welcome from Luca and his amazing mother Lena. They make you feel you are part of the family! Lena prepares the most delicious breakfasts each morning with fruit, coffee and fresh pastries. The walk to the town takes 10 minutes and from there you can catch a golf buggy taxi to the beach. The island of Panarea is a unique experience and one we shall never forget. We definitely hope to return to B&B da Luca again next year."
Hotel Aktea
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Reception staff were very helpful. Our room was very comfortable. We had a fridge but no tea/coffee making facilities. Shower was excellent, very nice bathroom. Continental breakfast with plenty to choose from. You could make your own boiled eggs! We had dinner here the first night. Definitely 5* food and service. Within easy walking distance of the harbour but beware, there is more than one harbour. Takes about 20 minutes to walk to the harbour where you catch the smaller boats to Vulcano and Stromboli islands. Lovely main street with lots of cafés and restaurants and the side street to the smaller harbour is lovely, and pedestrianised. When you walk back up to the hotel, cut down the drive to the swimming pool level and get the lift to your room. Door closes at 11pm. We are an older couple and this saved us a few steps uphill!! The hotel swimming pool and jacuzzi are surrounded by sunbeds. Towels are obtained from the restaurant (same level as pool), and you have to sign for them. No charge if you return them to reception, before you check out. This was our favourite hotel of our Travelsphere holiday. We loved Lipari and its quaint streets and buildings. "
