Hotel Aura ★★★
"Sufficient stay but nothing special. Friendly staff and structure quite close to the center of Vulcano (about 10 minutes walk from the port) but there are many improvements to be made: the look of the rooms should be modernized a bit and the shower trays should be changed because they seem dirty and in reality they are just old and ruined, even the bedroom fridge should be renewed with something stronger that (especially in summer) keeps things cold and not simply cool. The TV does not work completely and the internet connection is also quite unstable. The breakfast absolutely needs to be improved as it is very poor both in quantity and quality. Unfortunately, something should also be done for the swimming pool to improve the temperature of the water which, both in the morning and in the afternoon, is always too hot and there is no relief in getting in. Recommended if you do not have great expectations of your stay or if you just have to sleep there."
Hotel Aktea ★★★★
"We stayed five nights at the Hotel Aktea when visiting Lipari and the other Aeolian islands. The service was excellent- They could not have been more gracious and accommodating. They helped us find and book several tours, helped with restaurant recommendations reservations and directions, and were generally friendly and pleasant. The rooms were simple but spacious and comfortable and ours looked onto the wildly gorgeous huge pool. Breakfast had a wide variety of sweets, as well as cereals yogurts, breads meats and cheeses. Would 100% return."
Arciduca Grand Hotel ★★★★
"Good location and helpful staff . Check out the roof deck . The pool is not heated . There are quite a few steps if you are not on the ground floor . The windows don't have screens , and if you want tissues or an electric kettle you have to bring your own . There's not a reading light by the bed ."
Hotel Cutimare - Aeolian Charme ★★★★
"This was my first trip to the Aeolian Islands. A bit of a hike from Catania airport but well worth the effort (bus to Milazzo - 1 hour - and then hydrofoil ferry to Lipari). The hotel is charming and clean, and the staff are extremly attentive to guests' needs (My A/C unit didn't work, so I got an upgrade to a junior suite with terrace) and friendly without being invasive. The sea views and dawn sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking from the roof terrace where you can also enjoy a pre-dinner/pre-lunch drink. Excellent breakfast buffet and I'd recommend halfboard as the restaurant on the top of the hill (you get picked-up and dropped back at the hotel) has excellent fish fare even on the set menu, as well as a fine wine selection, available by the generous glass. The beach is right in front of the hotel and has sun loungers available. The beach is also volcanic stone which is where the hotel takes its name: "cutimare" means "ciottole" in Italian or stones. Buy a pair of rubber shoes in Lipari to save your feet from experiencing excruicating pain getting in and out of the water, although the locals walk across the stones effortlessly. This was not my case! However, the stone beach has an upside - not an ideal place for young children and families, so the beach is almost "adult" only and quiet. On my final Sunday in June, I had the beach to myself. The sea is crystalline. I used taxis but if you have a car, there are some lovely places to visit around the island or you can do a boat excursion from Lipari to explore the other islands. I added a week here after holidaying in Trentino, Barcelona, Spain and Minorca and, of all the places, I loved Lipari and Cultimare the best. In fact, I'll be returning to Sicily at the end of August. And I'd like to go back next year ... Happy holidays, folks!"
Lo Nardo Accommodation ★★★
"An enchanting stay, we stayed at the Lo Nardo apartment in Lipari a few steps from the port and it was truly fantastic, welcomed by Carmelo, a very kind boy and his staff, we were looked after in the best possible way and recommended in everything. The very practical and comfortable apartments made our stay even more pleasant. And what about the magnificent terrace??? Stupendous !!! I recommend that too"
Les Sables Noirs & Spa ★★★★
"Lovely hotel in a strategic location, on the beach and five minutes walk from Vulcano’s restaurants, lively bars and shopping area. Rooms are very nicely designed and recently renovated. The bedroom is separate from the living room (both rooms have doors) with the bathroom in the middle. Quiet decent size pool at perfect temperature! Private beach on the calm sabbie nere bay. Mario the lifeguard on the beach is a superstar and very knowledgable on the best places where to eat on the island. Aperitif on the terrace has breathtaking views but do book well in advance, even before you get there, to secure your table. If you have the chance, visit the nearby islands by boat. Overall we had a lovely stay. Friendly staff, attentive hotel manager."
Villa Saracina ★★★
"The two girls of the staff are of a unique kindness to the world, series, precise and gentle. I hope to come back in a year. I have been in a volcano for 40 years and I have rarely been so good, even though the time was not very much, we have been cocktailed."
B&B Antico Palmento ★★★
"We spent four wonderful days in Lipari and we could not make a better choice: the island is charming, with a wonderful landscape, a crystalline sea and a relaxing atmosphere that has conquered us since the first day. Our B&B stay was really excellent. The hotel is comfortable, clean in the minimum details, always clean and equipped with all the comforts needed to feel like at home. The location is excellent, ideal for both to reach the centre and the port and to visit the most characteristic beaches and places of the island. Since our arrival, he has welcomed us with great kindness and has immediately made us feel welcome. It has always been available, gentle and careful to all our needs, ready to provide us precious advice on beaches, restaurants, excursions and less known angles of Lipari. His availability and passion for hospitality have really made the difference and have helped make our holiday even more pleasant. We have appreciated the tranquility of the structure, the family atmosphere and the care with which guests are welcomed. These are the small details, together with Nicola's kindness, that make the feeling really cocktailed and make the stay special. We will bring with us a beautiful memory of these four days and we recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to visit Lipari and live a genuine experience, in the sign of relaxation and genuine hospitality. If we were to return to the Eolien Islands, we would certainly choose to stay here again. Thank you very much, Nicola, for making our holiday so pleasant and unforgettable! John and Daniela"
Therasia Resort Sea and Spa - the Leading Hotels of the World ★★★★★
"We were so impressed by this resort. The hotel's team was unfailingly polite, generous, and helpful. The setting is simply sensational. The choice of restaurants is extraordinary. All that the resort offers, from the spa to the swimming pool to the phenomenal service, is wonderful. We had two problems - the room in which we were staying had extremely poor internet and, much as we loved the main restaurant, we were sad not to have the option to have fresh green salad on a regular basis. The breakfast is terrific - no need for lunch. We are eager to return. You will not be disappointed."

Appartamenti IL Ventaglio
"The room is very clean in details, spacious, comfortable, equipped with balcony. The bathroom is functional, with a large shower cabin and a small window. The lady who runs the building was very kind. She came to take us to the port when we arrived, and accompanied us on the day of departure. We had finished our stay on Saturday, but he allowed us to use the room bathroom late afternoon, after a whole day of sea. If we return to Lipari in the future, the choice for stay will be still on this structure."
Il Gabbiano Relais in Stromboli
"The apartment was clean and simple with all the basic facilities. The staff were lovely and very helpful and patient with our limited Italian. The pool was beautiful. The location was great...not too far to walk anywhere but still quiet. The reason why 4 out of 5 was the beds were very hard and our bed was two beds put together that were slightly different heights. The showers were very small and there wasn't always somewhere to lie by the pool should you want to."
Hotel Villa Cute - Hvc
"We (2+2) stayed there in the beginning of Oct 2013. There was only one other room occupied and the weather was cool but the pool was kept in order and we used it. It is a few minutes walk from the centre but not too close for a walk with suitcases. The owner will pick you up on your arrival, keep his phone number handy. Other apartment owners will try to steel you when you get off the aliscafo so he is sure to be there. The rooms are made in good taste, breakfast was OK and the service quite good. We had a mosquito problem when we came so they gave us a repellent. better bring some. For short, it was a comfortable place for rest and as a base for exploring the nearby ilands."
Hotel Rocce Azzurre
"We stayed in this beautiful family run hotel for 4 nights. A great base for exploring all the Aeolian Islands from. We were touched by the kindness and generosity of all the staff, (In particular the gregarious owner Adriano, Frederick who treats you like royalty at each meal and Francesco to name a few). The rooms are spacious and meticulously cleaned by a lovely lady every morning and towels replaced as needed. On our first day our ferry from Milazzo was delayed by several hours and we arrived at the hotel at 2330hrs. Even tho the kitchen closes at 2130hrs the staff had stayed behind to serve us a delicious meal. On another occasion our ferry from Stromboli was late returning and despite the fact the kitchen had just closed they prepared a three course meal. On all occasions this hotel goes the extra mile to make your stay memorable. The balcony view looking out over the bays azure water & boats is delightful. The food is delicious and the 3 course menu changes each night. All meals are served on a balcony with magical views over looking the bay. The hotel basks in sun all day and there is a platform with numerous lounge chairs and easy access to swimming. The hotel is situated an easy short walk from the town of Lipari. The hotel is very quiet and we are so glad we stayed here. We would highly recommend this hotel to all travellers who are looking for a very special experience."
La Piazza Luxury Hotel & Spa
"During a stop at the bar of this luxury hotel in Panarea, I ordered two coffees. At the table, we were also served a small bottle of water, which we hadn't requested, but which we consumed anyway. The final bill was 18 euros. Even considering the exclusive setting of the island and the hotel, I consider it unfair that the receipt reported a single cumulative total, without any breakdown of individual prices and expense items. A hotel of this caliber expects maximum transparency towards its guests."
Hotel Al Togo Fitness & Relax
"The staff is very friendly and available! A place where you feel practically at home. The swimming pool in the palms is perfect for relaxing. The allocated room was equipped with a bathroom and outer courtyard with table! Very useful the stalking!! We will certainly come back!"
Hotel Bougainville
"I stayed from August 6th to 13th. Beautiful hotel, very clean, very well-kept, exceptional and very friendly staff. I didn't find a single flaw. Any request made was fulfilled. Very happy. The breakfast girls are super kind and make you happy in everything, Giuditta super!"
Hotel Tritone Lipari
"Unfortunately all expectations of staying in a nice hotel were disappointed. Not only is the Tritone hotel not at the level of a 4* superior hotel as mentioned, but I believe some things are essential for all hospitality facilities, such as cleanliness for example. Very low level of hygiene, they don't change the sheets, after 4 days I made an express request and the "new" sheets were dirty with stains (probably blood), the bed has a spring mattress which is really very uncomfortable to sleep on, at the camp bed level, not sure hotel! The shower was also very uncomfortable, there wasn't even a small shelf to place the shower gel on, you have to shower while holding shampoo and everything in your hand! The hotel does not change sheets, towels and bathroom products. The bathroom and entrance wall have always remained dirty (never been cleaned in a week) with blood stains from killed insects. There is no water in the room, not even a coffee maker or a kettle for tea or instant coffee (unacceptable for a 4*!). The reception staff is not friendly, it seems like a hassle to be at customer service, they really don't have this concept. There is no concierge desk and the reception staff is not available to provide the service that should be there! The pool is disappointing, the hydromassages didn't work, and there is no towel service, you have to go to reception and request a beach towel there (they don't even have the hotel's beach towel, never seen it). The breakfast is obscene, based only on canned things, packaged food and fruit in syrup, there is not even a choice of fresh fruit or savory foods, the service is very slow and even the à la carte food for dinner is not fresh or cooked well . The general impression is that the hotel must save money, on everything and for everyone. I would certainly have changed hotels if I had not booked through the Avventurisole agency, which proved to be absolutely not up to managing its customers and not professional nor serious even towards the hotel. We pointed out when booking that one of the guests was vegan and it was confirmed that we could assist with dietary needs, but not only was this not the case, but the agency actually boycotted its customers, attacking us verbally and also through Whatsapp. Never experienced a situation like this and what's more when you want to spend a holiday in peace and for this reason you book through a local agency to avoid any kind of problem! Speaking directly to the hotel, they wanted to give us a refund, as they claimed that the agency had not informed them. In any case, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel, too many problems which clearly are not taken into consideration and the result is a ruined holiday for those who have paid for a luxury holiday."
Eolia Rooms Lipari
Kyma Suites
"The Kyma is a magical place, new rooms are treated in every particular, we were in the first floor rooms and from the terrace we looked at Stromboli and Basiluzzo. Breakfast is excellent and with healthy and quality products. The two brothers owners of the building are of a disarmant gentleness. Super super recommended!!"
Eolian Residence
"Nino and his family welcomed us as if we were a family! The children have appreciated the pool, we have spacious, clean and comfortable rooms"
Hotel Residence Mendolita
Hotel Villa Augustus
"I am not one to write outrageous reviews but I have to be honest. The staff was lacking hospitality in my opinion. In particular one member of staff who worked late at night, and would scream at my kids to be quiet as we entered. This same staff member then followed them to their room and confronted them, yelling at them, making more noise then they were originally. We stayed two nights, and both nights my kids were yelled at to be quiet before they even made a peep. This led to us nick naming this hotel “the silent hotel”. The rooms were fine, nothing extraordinary, they served their purpose. However, I would say the showers are a bit small. Breakfast was good. What would truly enhance the experience at the hotel is a more welcoming atmosphere and friendlier staff. A few smiles and hospitable attitude could go a long way in making guests feel more at home and appreciated. I would not recommend this hotel for big families or families with young children who may make some noise."
B&B Il Cappero
"We stayed at the B&B Il Cappero, in the Lipari room. A breathtaking view, double window and a small balcony where you can relax after a shower and excursions. But the thing that makes Il Cappero a truly wonderful place are Adriana and Antonio, two amazing people, welcoming, helpful and ready to direct and recommend the right place to watch a Lipari sunset or to enjoy a romantic dinner. I thought they were the owners and I was really surprised when I discovered that they are employees, because the love and dedication they have towards us customers makes you understand how much love they put into this job and how they carry out their roles with passion, we felt it and we are truly honored. If I may, and I may because I am Sicilian too, one thing I would change is Antonio's clothing. On an island, a chauffeur (but who is also much more) should have clothing appropriate to the temperature, nice shorts and cool shoes. The islanders must know how to distinguish themselves in comfort while maintaining their identity and their spirit (I suffered for him with those long pants and closed shoes). We will recommend it and hope to return one day not far away. Thank you so much for everything, Luisa&Lorenzo."
Hotel A Pinnata
"After a lovely long walk we found the beautiful terrace of A pinnata. A glorious view overlooking the new marina and over to the town of Lipari. Stunning. Although lunch wasn’t being served the staff offered to make us a panino! Really impressed!"
Malvasia 70
"The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable and very comfortable. The hotel is located in a very quiet area, near the centre of Lipari, and the hosts were very friendly and careful, always available to help us with recommendations or what we need. We would be happy to stay with you. ¡ Thank you for a very pleasant stay!"
