I stayed at the Savoy Hotel in Limerick for two nights this week. I specifically chose this hotel because it advertised having a swimming pool, as I swim lengths every evening to unwind after work. Unfortunately, the pool turned out to be more of a small plunge pool, completely unsuitable for swimming, and the water was extremely cold. The room had several issues. The curtains didn’t close fully, so I had to unhook and reattach one side just to get some privacy. The room itself was cold; after I called reception, someone came up to adjust the heating and said it was fixed, but it never got any warmer, even when I set the thermostat to 32 degrees. The bed was very soft and lumpy, it felt like I was sleeping in a hole. The coffee machine only worked intermittently, and the shower was very small. Hotel information was provided on the TV, but it consisted mostly of QR codes encouraging guests to purchase extras rather than offering any useful details. The parking information was also unclear, the hotel instructs guests to park in the paid car park across the road and promises to validate the ticket, but at checkout, they still charge you for that validation. Overall, my experience was disappointing and poor value for money. The hotel did not meet expectations, and I wouldn’t stay here again.
