The location is great, only 4km from the city center. The front desk staff are super professional, the rooms are large and very clean, and there's a coffee machine and even takeaway cups at the room bar – very thoughtful! The breakfast is also quite good; although simple, it has juice, coffee, bacon, eggs, and fruit – everything you could want. Highly recommended!

The 3-point service is mainly reflected in the difficulty of checking in. There is no front desk, no check-in instructions, in fact, this is an Airbnb. If you don't have a certain English foundation and patience, I think forget it, just change hotels. Because I couldn't find the door, I looked up Ctrip for a long time before calling the American contact number, and then they sent me the check-in instructions and the first door access code. I have never seen such a complicated check-in method. To enter the second door, you have to stand at the door, with another password, and get the key and access control of your room in the box, which is the third door. Well, now we know that this is not a hotel, it is a secret room game, you win. The room is small, but full of artistic atmosphere, really feel it. However, this bed is the only water bed I have ever slept on. It is a sponge mattress bed, but you feel like you are sleeping in the ocean, the moisture, half of it is wet when you turn it over. I don't know how I got through the night, anyway, I feel like I have been soaked. If possible, I ask for a full refund

The room isn't huge, but having a microwave is a big plus. The air conditioning unit is right under the window and is quite noisy. The awkward part is that if you turn it off, you can't open the window. 😅 The hotel's location is excellent, with multiple subway lines nearby. It's just one subway stop from Little Tokyo, which has a much wider and livelier dining selection than Chinatown. The coin-operated laundry room is another great feature, and the front desk offers laundry detergent for purchase and change-making services, which is really thoughtful.

This is my second stay at this hotel, and it's just as great as the first time. The room was exceptionally clean and well-equipped, even having a safe. While the room itself is a bit small, it has everything you need. They also have a gym, and there's a restaurant downstairs. The location is absolutely fantastic! There's a big market right behind it with all sorts of delicious food, and it's very close to the City Hall and Little Tokyo. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip. The front desk offers self-check-in and check-out, and there are always staff members available to help, and they are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The hotel I stayed at in Los Angeles was right downtown. I guess American cities are different from back home; the downtown areas are mostly for business and offices, so there isn't much to see or do. Parking was also inconvenient and expensive. The hotel itself was very old, and the facilities looked quite dated. You really can't compare it to hotels in China.

Perfect location in LA downtown with less than 5-minute walking distance from 7th street/Metro Central metro station. It is also within a walkable distance from downtown landmarks such as Angels Flight Railway, Grand Central Market, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Lakers home stadium. Hotel room is nicely designed and clean. In response to some other comments on the slow lifts, the lift speed is considered reasonable and okay, as the hotel building is not so tall! The restaurant for breakfast has great interior design, offering many choices of set breakfasts. The breakfasts and Americano coffee served are awesome. This hotel is highly recommended!

Shabby hotel. Minimaly decent. Neighbourhood is unsafe, adviced not to go out after dark. Just look up the Koreatown area. Had to order delivery in my room instead of going out to eat. Two of the walls in my room are raw brick, not painted or smoothed first time staying in a hotel like this. Not worth the price. Wish I could spend $20 more for a far better hotel near the Getty Center. My arms went sore lifting the provided hairdryer before my hair could be dried. Good thing is the front desk attitude is quite nice.

YYC008Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars; First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review. The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-) Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance. 1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process. 2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance. Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.

YYingpanxiaThe city view is still great with a wide-open perspective. The service was warm and welcoming. The rooftop wasn't open in the evening due to the wind. Last time I was here, I saw you could take photos and enjoy a drink inside, and the scenery was lovely. A special thanks to Deanna at the front desk; she was incredibly warm and friendly. It was a pleasure to see her again this time, and I wished her a Merry Christmas. Looking forward to seeing her again next time!

LLyn R.Awesome front desk service and staff! Just stayed over for the weekend to attend a Dodgers game. Picked this hotel because other closer hotels had a $40-$60 per night parking fee, while this one was reasonably priced at $15 per night I believe. I wasn’t expecting a brand new hotel, and it was really nice. Only junk thing was our in room fridge was either broken or not plugged in so I had to throw away a cup of fruit but not a big deal. Will definitely be staying here every time I come to town for a game.

GGuest UserI have to say, I'm really impressed with this hotel's environment and service. The decor is quite new and clean (looks like it's been recently renovated), and the soundproofing is relatively good. You can hear planes passing by, but it's not too loud, which is a significant improvement compared to other similarly priced hotels I've stayed at in the US. They offer a 24-hour airport shuttle that runs every 10-15 minutes, with a bus tracker, and convenient waiting areas at both the airport and the hotel. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about 8-10 minutes. What truly stood out was their thoughtful provision of three different types of water in the lobby, especially since most hotels don't provide any water at all. If you're not planning on frequent trips into the city center, this is an excellent choice. Plus, there are several car rental services within a 5-minute walk of the hotel.

GGuest UserThe hotel was nice and the staff was excellent. Unfortunately they only had one working elevator, the others weren't working (out of order). The ice machines were broken except one on the 5th floor. The sliding glass door to get into the hotel was broken. You had to use the smaller side doors to get in. They only had one luggage cart available and it was semi broken. Couldn't hang any clothes on it. The windows on the outside of the room were dirty. The pool was nice but not heated, very very cold. The jacuzzi was fine. No towels out there, you had to bring them from your room. Parking is hard to find in the lot at night and sometimes during the day during to the Casino attached to the hotel. All in all we would stay there again.

GGuest UserMy wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised. Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience. Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration. Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website. Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price. The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet. Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

GGuest UserI was a bit worried because I'd read many reviews saying the airport shuttle was hard to catch, but luckily, I checked out just in time to get on one. The front desk told me the shuttle runs 24 hours a day, roughly every half an hour. There's a McDonald's right outside the hotel, which is super convenient if you don't feel like going far for food. The best part, though, was how quickly my deposit was refunded. I received a text message confirming the pre-authorization cancellation just a few minutes after checking out. Thumbs up!

AANASJOI recently stayed at morel 6 and was thoroughly impressed! The **location couldn’t be better**—just minutes away from Hollywood attractions like the Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theatre. Whether you’re here for sightseeing or entertainment, everything is easily accessible. A major plus was how **clean and well-maintained** the rooms and common areas were. Housekeeping did an outstanding job. Another highlight? **Easy access to public transportation** (metro and buses), making it a breeze to explore LA without needing a car.
