Many attractions, like Olvera Street and Little Tokyo, are within walking distance, making sightseeing a breeze. The lobby on the ground floor offers complimentary brewed coffee, tea bags, and hot water 24/7, though milk is not provided. They allowed us to check in over an hour early, and no deposit or credit card was required. The room was spacious and generally clean. The amenities are basic: there's a fridge, but no microwave, coffee maker, or complimentary coffee sachets. The free Wi-Fi worked well.

The transportation location is good. There is a subway station (China town) nearby. Eating is also convenient. There are several Hong Kong-style and Vietnamese restaurants. Unfortunately, breakfast is not provided. Fortunately, there is a seafood restaurant across the road that provides tea in the morning, which can solve the breakfast problem.

Our family of three stayed for four days and were quite satisfied. The room was very spacious, and the two double beds were large enough. American hotels generally don't have kettles, so the portable one we brought was very useful. We had to ask the front desk daily for bottled water, and they'd give us two bottles. The hotel's location is excellent; it's convenient for getting around with a subway station nearby. Little Tokyo has Japanese supermarkets where you can buy plenty of food and drinks. Angel's Flight, City Hall, the art museum, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grand Central Market, and The Last Bookstore are all within walking distance.

This hotel has a rich history, and I believe it's owned by Chinese people, as there was a Chinese New Year atmosphere during my stay over the holiday. Parking isn't free; it costs about $60 for a full day. The hotel is located right in the city center.

The room isn't huge, but having a microwave is a big plus. The air conditioning unit is right under the window and is quite noisy. The awkward part is that if you turn it off, you can't open the window. 😅
The hotel's location is excellent, with multiple subway lines nearby. It's just one subway stop from Little Tokyo, which has a much wider and livelier dining selection than Chinatown.
The coin-operated laundry room is another great feature, and the front desk offers laundry detergent for purchase and change-making services, which is really thoughtful.

This is my second stay at this hotel, and it's just as great as the first time. The room was exceptionally clean and well-equipped, even having a safe. While the room itself is a bit small, it has everything you need. They also have a gym, and there's a restaurant downstairs. The location is absolutely fantastic! There's a big market right behind it with all sorts of delicious food, and it's very close to the City Hall and Little Tokyo. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip.
The front desk offers self-check-in and check-out, and there are always staff members available to help, and they are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The room is large and clean. In Chinatown, the price is high, the facilities are complete, and the front desk staff is very communicative. The hygienist came to Los Angeles from Guangzhou 18 years ago. She enthusiastically helped introduce the situation and allowed us to view and choose a house. The hotel environment is also good, and the breakfast is OK. Western food in American hotels is just like this, and it is far inferior to the buffets in good hotels in China.

The hotel I stayed at in Los Angeles was right downtown. I guess American cities are different from back home; the downtown areas are mostly for business and offices, so there isn't much to see or do. Parking was also inconvenient and expensive. The hotel itself was very old, and the facilities looked quite dated. You really can't compare it to hotels in China.
Daily Mandatory Destination Charge includes: Premium guest internet access; $25 daily food and beverage credit for use in all hotel outlets; daily full-service gym pass. Our urban lifestyle hotel sits in a prime location so you can get the best of Downtown LA. Were within walking distance of Crypto.com Arena, The Los Angeles Convention Center, L.A. Live, Microsoft Theater, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and more LA hotspots.
Appealing to all types of travelers, experience an eclectic stay thanks to our rooftop bar and restaurant featuring skyline views, lobby cafe, co-working spaces, unique meeting and event spaces, pet-friendly rooms, and free WiFi.

The location is fantastic. It's close to the subway, bus stops, and a supermarket, and you can even walk to Crypto.com Arena. The area around the hotel also felt very safe. While people often say it's dangerous to walk around Los Angeles at night, I felt perfectly fine walking between the hotel and the arena. My only complaints are that the room didn't have a refrigerator and the shower ran out of hot water late at night, usually after 11 PM.
Downtown Los Angeles Homestay. Airport transfer, Los Angeles day tour, West Coast tour, chartered car service (food, accommodation, transportation) and other one-stop services. Our home is located in downtown Los Angeles, near Chinatown and Japantown, with buses and subways. The No. 40 bus is right outside the door and goes directly to the city center. Cars can be parked on the roadside. The 5th, 10th, 60th and 101th highways are just outside the door. In the city center, there are the famous Lakers Stadium, Concert Hall, USC and Los Angeles Wholesale Market, rotating viewing platform, climbing car and other attractions. Our homestay is within 45 minutes' drive to any attraction in Los Angeles, such as the real gun shooting range in 3 minutes, Hollywood Walk of Fame in 15 minutes. The traffic is very convenient. You can get on the Los Angeles Bridge in a few minutes to see the city view of Los Angeles, and reach Little Tokyo, Chinatown, and Los Angeles Wholesale Market. It takes a few minutes to drive to the Chinese community Monterey Park, where local delicacies are available. It is a 10-minute drive to the factory direct sales store. It is a good place for tourism, business and free travel. . Because of the comfortable bed, kitchen, warmth and high ceiling, you will definitely love our home. Our home is suitable for couples, adventurers traveling alone, business travelers, families with children, and is the first choice for backpackers and tourists visiting Los Angeles. We also provide airport pick-up, car rental, charter and other services. It will be very convenient for travelers staying in the B&B to visit the area. Each room is equipped with air conditioning. The staff can arrange airport pick-up and other services according to the needs of travelers.

The environment and facilities can't compare to a typical hotel, but I still feel very lucky to have found this place.
I booked another hotel in Los Angeles for a long weekend (not through ************), but when I arrived, they told me they were fully booked, so I had to find another place to stay. But the price was one thing, and the lack of rooms was another. Finally, I chose this place. From booking confirmation to check-in, it was less than half an hour, but they very quickly arranged a room for me, even asking what time I would arrive. When my car arrived, two people were waiting for me at the door, speaking Chinese to me and helping me with my luggage. After a whole day of booking trouble, I was almost in tears.
The room felt like staying at a friend's house in another city, but the bed was comfortable, and the room had heating. They probably knew I'd been through a lot that day, because when I arrived they didn't tell me any rules, not even what time I had to leave the next day. They just let me rest in the room by myself, as if we'd known each other for ages 😂 The next day, it was almost noon, and of course, there were no calls urging me to check out. I didn't even see anyone else there. I just left the key in the door lock, pushed my luggage, and left. The owner seems like a very easygoing person (which I like). I'm also grateful to the owner for keeping me from being homeless during my long weekend of President's Day and Valentine's Day. I wish the owner great success in their business.

YYC008Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars;
First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review.
The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-)
Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance.
1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process.
2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance.
Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.
GGuest UserThis hotel is very comfortable and convenient, especially for solo travelers. It feels super safe, even when you're alone, and it's quite clean. The bed in the room is very comfortable, the pillows are great, the duvet is good, and the temperature was just right.
YYingpanxiaThe city view is still great with a wide-open perspective. The service was warm and welcoming. The rooftop wasn't open in the evening due to the wind. Last time I was here, I saw you could take photos and enjoy a drink inside, and the scenery was lovely. A special thanks to Deanna at the front desk; she was incredibly warm and friendly. It was a pleasure to see her again this time, and I wished her a Merry Christmas. Looking forward to seeing her again next time!
LLyn R.Awesome front desk service and staff! Just stayed over for the weekend to attend a Dodgers game. Picked this hotel because other closer hotels had a $40-$60 per night parking fee, while this one was reasonably priced at $15 per night I believe. I wasn’t expecting a brand new hotel, and it was really nice. Only junk thing was our in room fridge was either broken or not plugged in so I had to throw away a cup of fruit but not a big deal. Will definitely be staying here every time I come to town for a game.
GGuest UserI have to say, I'm really impressed with this hotel's environment and service. The decor is quite new and clean (looks like it's been recently renovated), and the soundproofing is relatively good. You can hear planes passing by, but it's not too loud, which is a significant improvement compared to other similarly priced hotels I've stayed at in the US. They offer a 24-hour airport shuttle that runs every 10-15 minutes, with a bus tracker, and convenient waiting areas at both the airport and the hotel. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about 8-10 minutes. What truly stood out was their thoughtful provision of three different types of water in the lobby, especially since most hotels don't provide any water at all. If you're not planning on frequent trips into the city center, this is an excellent choice. Plus, there are several car rental services within a 5-minute walk of the hotel.
GGuest UserThe hotel was nice and the staff was excellent. Unfortunately they only had one working elevator, the others weren't working (out of order). The ice machines were broken except one on the 5th floor. The sliding glass door to get into the hotel was broken. You had to use the smaller side doors to get in. They only had one luggage cart available and it was semi broken. Couldn't hang any clothes on it. The windows on the outside of the room were dirty.
The pool was nice but not heated, very very cold. The jacuzzi was fine. No towels out there, you had to bring them from your room. Parking is hard to find in the lot at night and sometimes during the day during to the Casino attached to the hotel.
All in all we would stay there again.
GGuest UserMy wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised.
Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience.
Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration.
Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website.
Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price.
The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet.
Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.
GGuest UserI was a bit worried because I'd read many reviews saying the airport shuttle was hard to catch, but luckily, I checked out just in time to get on one. The front desk told me the shuttle runs 24 hours a day, roughly every half an hour. There's a McDonald's right outside the hotel, which is super convenient if you don't feel like going far for food. The best part, though, was how quickly my deposit was refunded. I received a text message confirming the pre-authorization cancellation just a few minutes after checking out. Thumbs up!
AANASJOI recently stayed at morel 6 and was thoroughly impressed! The **location couldn’t be better**—just minutes away from Hollywood attractions like the Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theatre. Whether you’re here for sightseeing or entertainment, everything is easily accessible.
A major plus was how **clean and well-maintained** the rooms and common areas were. Housekeeping did an outstanding job.
Another highlight? **Easy access to public transportation** (metro and buses), making it a breeze to explore LA without needing a car. Whether you’re in town for business or leisure, this hotel offers convenience, comfort, and value.
