"I stayed two nights instead of one due to the holiday altering at the last minute. First room was comfortable if the decor was a little tatty with age. Only complaint really is lack of space in the en-suite but shower was good and all private facilities is very good rather than sharing something larger.
The second room was better decorated and had the same facilities as the first including a safe which is excellent. No in room drinks but free use of drinks dispenser at reception which was handy enough and made a refreshing drink. I didn’t miss the lack of meals as they offered a 10% discount at the Argentine restaurant on the ground floor - so far I haven’t had occasion to try it.
As other reviews point out the stairs are steep and I personally wouldn’t want to be any higher than the first floor just because of the struggle to get a case up and down.
Having changed rooms reception staff were very friendly and helpful I felt that my luggage was safe with them while the second room was prepared.
While I was there the temperature outside was in the mid to high 20s but both rooms were fine with the air conditioning working fine contrary to other reports
All in all I was very happy with my stay and plan to rebook for my return journey home with it being very handy for Eurostar."
"Great location and staff, but poor cleanliness
I liked this hotel overall, mainly because of its fantastic location right in the center of Amsterdam. It was extremely convenient for walking around the city, and all the main attractions are very close by. The staff was friendly, multilingual, and helpful with everything. They gave us great recommendations on where to go and even lent us an umbrella for the rain.
Our room on the 4th floor was very spacious, especially by Amsterdam standards. However, the cleanliness was a major disappointment. The room was poorly cleaned: there was a lot of dust, the closets were dirty, and the coffee machine was so filthy that we didn't even want to use it.
My overall impression is not bad, but due to the lack of cleanliness, I would not stay at this hotel again."
"Transiting through Amsterdam Airport, getting to the hotel from the airport was very convenient – just take the train to Central Station. However, on the train, I encountered a very enthusiastic female thief, so everyone beware! The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the station. The front desk quickly handled check-in. The room was a bit small, but had decent facilities. The drain wasn't very clear, and the bed was small, but for a one-night stay, you can't expect too much. The next morning, I took a canal tour. Even though it was a brief visit, Amsterdam is definitely a city worth exploring."
"Probably the best hostel I have stayed at. Showers and bathroom were clean and the rooms were a major step up from most hostel beds. Clean and quiet and perfect for the price especially if you can get a canal cube"
"Thank you very much for letting us check in early. The room wasn't huge, but it was perfectly functional. The hotel's location is excellent – about a 10-minute walk from the cruise ship terminal and a 5-minute walk from the train station. It's also not far from the meeting points for day tours. You do have to transfer elevators once, but there was basically no waiting time."
"The hotel receptionist was incredibly friendly and kind. We arrived early, before 9 AM, expecting to just store our luggage, but to our surprise, the receptionist informed us that our room was already ready for check-in. The room was very clean and tidy, and the king-size bed was super comfortable. All the amenities were readily available, though the only minor flaw was the low water pressure in the shower. The location is fantastic, very close to the Central Station, making it extremely convenient. There are also plenty of convenience stores, pharmacies, department stores, and restaurants nearby."
"Nice for a traveler on a budget.
The hotel was in the heart of the city, close to attraction sites and tour/sightseeing agencies, in a busy street lined with shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and courteous too."
"The service at this hotel was great. Yes the stairs were a bit steep but that’s okay I left Amsterdam fitter than when I arrived The boat trip was excellent. Well worth doing. See you next year"
"The location of the hotel is good in terms of safety and accessibility as there is a nearby tram (5 mins walk) which made it convenient to explore the city.
The room itself was quite tight in space, the bathroom didn’t have that good a ventilation so after a warm shower it felt like I was melting.
But all in all, you get what you pay for."

Great
GGuest UserThe room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was cozy, and the view was great, ensuring a good night's sleep. The staff were warm and attentive, providing excellent service. The hotel's location is superb, offering convenient transportation, and the breakfast selection was extensive.
YYooyooooThis has to be one of the most satisfying hotels I've ever stayed in! The location is incredibly convenient; it's just a 3-minute walk to the tram, train, or bus. The room is fully equipped, very spacious, and has a great design, plus there's a TV!
When you check in, they give you a box of kitchen cleaning supplies (as shown in the last picture). This is really thoughtful, ensuring guests can make full use of the kitchen even if they didn't bring their own cleaning products. What's more, because my last day of stay was my actual birthday, the hotel even gave me a box of cookies and a thoughtful card ❤️ It was such a heartwarming gesture!
GGuest UserThis is a pretty standard luxury hotel, with no major issues. There's a mini-fridge, but it's not cold enough and doesn't come stocked with anything. However, the umbrella is a high-end carbon fiber one, which is quite rare and a nice touch. The bathroom drain had a bit of a problem, probably a clog from hair that needs to be cleaned promptly. My biggest issue, though, was the front desk – they were incredibly slow! Especially during check-out. I've never seen a hotel where you have to wait in line one by one; usually, you just leave your room card and go.

Sitting on the sofa and looking out over the river, watching boats pass by, gave me a peaceful feeling that reminded me of my hometown.
I hope to have even more memorable experiences the next time I stay at Mövenpick.
AAchengdebairimengThe hotel's location is super convenient, really close to the train station and all the main attractions. Both the hotel and the room were spotless and didn't have any strange smells, which was great. The only minor downside was that the music from nearby bars could be a bit loud at night.
GGuest UserThis place is right across the river, a quick free ferry ride away. Check-in and check-out are entirely self-service via touch panel. My room was in the basement, so it was quite dim. Each bed had its own fan, mini-light, and charging port. Unfortunately, my roommates reeked of ****, which was unpleasant, but I guess that's just how it is in the Netherlands.
GGuest UserThe room having a microwave was a huge plus, very convenient for heating up quick meals. The room itself was actually quite spacious, though the bathroom was on the smaller side. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and friendly. But the absolute best part? They have an adorable orange cat you can pet! Cat lovers, this is your sign! The cat is very mellow and lets you pet him all you want. It's also quite convenient if you're taking the FlixBus, as it's only a 15-minute walk to the station. The hotel has two floors and no elevator, but it's manageable; if you have heavy luggage, you'll only ever have to carry it up one flight of stairs at most.
GGuest UserWe spent our winter holiday here and there are plenty of local groceries stores around. The train station is just a breeze walk away so it’s easy to travel around. The Zaanse Schans (windmill attraction), Zaandam (‘Lego’ house) is just few stations away from the hotel. Stay wise it’s comfortable but can get tad abit noisy as the sound insulation between walls are rather weak. All in all we will definitely stay here again!
GGuest UserThere were some inconveniences, like the electricity not working at times and the shower door being incomplete, causing water to spill out. I was told there would be a hairdryer in the room, but there wasn't one. On the positive side, the staff were kind and helpful.
GGuest UserMind you the window-less rooms do not have air con so you’re gonna have to bake in the heat and no lift to the basement… but nonetheless, location is good
