Great
TTingzaibitandexiaochuanArrived on a late-night flight, and it was a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport. The hotel is quite clean, but the decor is really outdated. Since we arrived late, they only offered us a corner room. We disagreed, and after a long back-and-forth, they still wouldn't budge. We then contacted Trip.com, who communicated with the hotel on our behalf, and they finally agreed to give us a room in the middle of the floor with the same room type. Clearly, they had other rooms available but just didn't want to give them to us. The location of the old Hyatt is excellent, getting anywhere is super convenient.

DDainiqubianquanshijieLet me talk about some aspects beyond the rooms. Even after checking out, if your flight is in the evening, the hotel still provides an exclusive area for showering, getting water, charging devices, and resting. The facilities are comprehensive and clean. The family-friendly amenities are incredibly well-equipped, featuring three large water slides, a kids' slide, and water spray equipment. There's also children's bowling, bubble shows, character interactions, and much more, with different activities every day. They also offer some paid activities for children. The adult and children's pools are well-separated. I had hoped to see the bonfire show, but it was unfortunately canceled due to the weather. For sunset views, you can simply watch from the hotel. The hotel has various restaurants, where you can enjoy a buffet or à la carte dinner. I do hope they can manage the insects in the restaurants, as there were flies during breakfast.

AAnonymous UserThis is an old boutique hotel located in the heart of Gaya Street, rich with history and character. Initially, I booked it purely for its excellent location, but during my stay I came to appreciate the hotel’s historical significance, which made the experience feel much more special. What disappointed me, however, was that the hotel does not do enough to highlight or preserve its own story. There was very little information displayed or explained for guests to understand the role the hotel played in the growth of Kota Kinabalu after World War II, particularly following the Allied bombings and the Japanese occupation. I truly feel the hotel could promote itself more as a historical destination rather than simply another hotel on Gaya Street. As a small locally owned boutique hotel, amenities are understandably limited. There is a massage parlour on-site that operates independently and rents space from the hotel. However, it is not located in the lobby or a separate commercial area, but on the third floor where many guests’ rooms are located, with both hotel guests and massage customers sharing a single lift. As a solo female traveller, this made me feel slightly concerned about security and privacy, since non-guests were able to access the same guest floors. One positive aspect was that despite the busy Gaya Street Market taking place over the weekend and continuing late into the night, the noise levels were surprisingly manageable and did not disrupt my stay too much. One downside during my stay was that the bidet in the bathroom was broken and leaked continuously whenever the water was turned on, which was quite inconvenient. Overall, I enjoyed the historical charm and strategic location of the hotel, but I believe it has much greater potential if it embraces and showcases its heritage more thoughtfully.

GGuest UserThis hotel room was the best value for money we found on our trip. It had its clear pros and cons. **Pros:** The location was excellent, very close to Imago Shopping Mall, the Jesselton Point ferry terminal, and Gaya Street, all within a 10-minute walk. The price was also very good, and the room itself was quite spacious. **Cons:** There was only one major drawback: it was very noisy. There were people drag racing at night. If you're sensitive to noise, you should probably avoid this place.

SStevendingThere's road construction downstairs, which made the hotel feel more like a standard domestic inn. The upside is it's right next to a large mall, so shopping is convenient. Everything else was just so-so, including the sea view, which was also mediocre, and the windows were dirty, obscuring the view.

AAnonymous UserIf you are in the area to visit the KKIP industrial zone, the Klagen Regency is perfectly positioned. It is located quite a distance from the main town center, which may seem remote at first, but it is a strategic advantage if you want to avoid a long daily commute to your work sites. The hotel itself is impressively well-kept. It’s clear that management prioritizes maintenance, as the rooms and common areas feel fresh and clean. The service is equally commendable; the staff are helpful and ensure a smooth, professional experience from check-in to check-out. Sorry I does not have the photo of the room because I am there for a business meeting but the room is okay to stay. Buffet Breakfast is good, also you can find very nice local food with walking distance .

GGuest UserThis hotel is good, right by the beach. The room is large and spacious, with all the amenities. The slightly worn bathroom door isn't something I'd consider a drawback. There were no insects. I really think this is the place to stay, especially since it's close to the airport. I couldn't find anywhere to buy food nearby, though. You can take a taxi to the central market or the Filipino market. I also liked that they checked me in in the morning, despite my early arrival. In Kuala Lumpur, I had to wait around until 2 PM to check in.

MMengpoaihetangI read a ton of reviews before my stay and mentally prepared myself, so my check-in experience was surprisingly good – not as unbearable as some reviews made it sound. Perhaps I had a higher tolerance after understanding the general conditions of hotels in Kota Kinabalu at this price point. This place actually has quite a few advantages. First, the price isn't expensive. For two nights, with two 1.5-meter beds, it can accommodate a family of four, and it's a one-bedroom, one-living-room setup. A price of 900 during Chinese New Year is already very good value. Next, the location: it's directly opposite the Central Market, and just a short walk to Gaya Street Night Market, so dining and shopping are close by. As for cleanliness, the walls were dirty; it seems like they haven't been maintained. But almost all hotels in Kota Kinabalu at this price are like this, so visitors should be mentally prepared and not compare it to hotels in China. Also, if you booked through Trip.com, you can skip the queue. There are two ladies at the front desk; just go to the one on the right to check in directly, don't queue on the left.
