"This is a hotel that thinks about everything you may need before you have to ask. It's remote from the other hotels in the Kamikochi area and that's a great thing: you get to experience staying high up the serene mountains as well as enjoying the walking trails in the valleys below, where most tourists stay. But the staff make it easy to get to the hotel (and back and forth from the walking and hiking trails) even if you're taking public transport rather than a car to get there. They have a shuttle bus always on call to get you back to the hotel from a public bus stop. There's a really laid back vibe at the hotel, unlike some of the sometimes excessively formal atmospheres of others. Staff planned out our tricky onward journey without us having to ask, which was incredibly helpful. Room views were breath-taking and the rooms themselves were tradional-ish and spacious. The onsens were delightful after a long hike and the food was very, very good and generous portions. A hotel that didn't feel transactional. Would love to stay again."

"The hotel is located near Tashiro Pond in Kamikochi, quite far from the bus terminal and Kappa Bridge. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the Imperial Hotel stop to the hotel. Fortunately, the hotel facilities, room equipment and catering services are all very complete, making people forget to leave. The most unforgettable thing is the view of the Azusagawa River outside the hotel gate. I also really appreciated the comfortable electric massage chair outside the large bath, which helped me relieve the fatigue from the long journey. On the day of check-out, I almost couldn't pre-check my luggage to Kamikochi Bus Terminal due to language and communication problems. Fortunately, the hotel staff immediately took remedial measures and delivered the luggage to the main station before the ideal time, so that I had enough time to walk to Myojin Pond and Myojin Bridge to enjoy the beautiful scenery after checking out. In short, the hotel service level is first-class and worth recommending."

"Experienced the secret soup white bone hot spring located in the deep mountains. This hot spring hotel is located near the bus terminal. There are not many rooms and it is very comfortable. You can make an appointment for two free private soups. Every half an hour, sulfur is full, milky white soup, very enjoyable"

"By the time we got there by rental car it was quite late, the reception team has been patient and friendly. Suggest to have more illustrated print out for driving to the sightseeing parking lots and more maps to show before heading out. Plus the water machine is not very handy in giving out hot water for tea. Others are perfect in terms of room and environment."

"The room is small, but there is everything. First class service. The meal was great and not heavy for two days. From the white bones to the flat soup, please ask the front desk lady to make an appointment for rent, which is extremely smooth. I miss this deep secret."

"It seems like it has recently been renovated, so some of the basic parts are still old, but it was well-maintained and the facility was clean. I think the meals were well-balanced without being too heavy on meat. The bath is said to come from a hot spring source, but it was so hot that I had to be careful to get into it. However, I think the power of the hot springs is that I was able to stay in light clothes until the morning without getting cold. If the changing room is dark, you will not feel safe, so I think it would be better if it was a little brighter. I think the distance between the staff was just right, but since my luggage was heavy, I wish I had an elevator."

"Kamikochi is magical, and Alpen helps make it even more so! Location is very good, near by the bus station but far enough from the maddening crowd at the bridge! And the hotel is on high ground making it a good spot to observe the trekking crowd. The reception staff are more than friendly and helpful, and we had good conversations with Kaori and Izumo. Room has a good view of the mountain and is a good size. Dinner is very good with much local produce used and the appetisers are interesting and delicious! Wonderful!"

"I really loved my time at Park Lodge Kamikochi, it was truly magical and I can’t believe our luck in finding this place. Location is great, very near to the bus terminal and starting point for many treks. The main areas and the rooms were simple, well-designed and very comfortable. Although note that there is no air conditioning in the room as the weather is already cool. The food was the best part, a delicious variety of offerings, including a live grill! My friends and I were amazed and felt like we got great value and experience out of this stay. The staff were mostly friendly, but we were once suspected of trespassing the premises. However, it was one-off and not a problem as they might experience non-guests entering. Overall, a fantastic experience that I highly recommend."
