The location is perfect and the room is nice but needs some tlc and general maintenance. Fan, hairdryer, aircon, toilet seat, door handle, window were broken. The bed was comfy but 2 very clear singles pushed together so would fall down the gap. The restaurant below plays music until 11pm which you can hear and could smell cigarette smoke in our room (even with the windows closed). The staff were very nice and friendly.

The hostel's location is excellent, right next to the main cathedral, with all the best sights within walking distance. There's also a tram stop nearby. Everything is very convenient, but the only drawback is the unqualified staff. I also encountered a common problem in Bosnia: if you book a hotel and pay by card (Russian), you might be asked to pay in cash upon check-in. I had to spend a long time proving that I had paid for my accommodation. Be prepared for this, or book without payment and pay on arrival.

The location is very good.
A small tip: in case you might not notice, if you are going by walking, not driving, using Google Maps directly may take you the long way around. If you contact the host, they will show you the back entrance, which takes you straight to the Baščaršija center in just 3 minutes.
The place was clean, comfortable, and very warm. We were very satisfied throughout our stay. The hosts were also kind-hearted and lovely people. I’m very happy to have met them.

The room was very clean, the boss was super nice, our checkin time was too late, the reception was off work, the enthusiastic boss answered the phone or came to help open the door to carry the box, and when we left, he also helped us call the taxi that did not kill the customer to the bus station, and there was also a service to and from the airport. Absolutely amazing stay. Every staff member we met was hospitable and helpful from the very start of the reservation process. The hotel location is perfect: not only inside Baščaršija with its cafes and restaurants, but next to a supermarket and a drugstore. The hotel has its own parking lots located in a one-minute walk. We had a room on the third floor (yes, there's an elevator) with a nice view on the Gazi Husrev-beg mosque. The room was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. The breakfast was good, a couple of dishes changed every day. The hotel is highly recommended.

The room was very new and clean, but the area outside the hotel was a bit shabby due to road construction. Parking was free, and the hotel staff came out to direct parking and help with luggage. The service was excellent. The buffet was also very good. 👍 The hotel is in a great location, right in the city center. The only downside was the road construction right outside.

It was my first time staying in a homestay abroad. The owner had WeChat, so we could communicate through WeChat, which was also very convenient for translation. The owner also explained all the issues in great detail. The place was clean, tidy and safe. The hotel is in a great location, right at Pigeon Square in the center of the old town. Staying here means you can walk to famous places in Sarajevo. The old town is rich in specialties, and the airport bus takes only a few minutes to walk to the City Hall.

Excellent value for money. Very close to the center (a 5-minute walk to the square), although it's uphill. Free parking is definitely a plus (I had a rental car). For €20 a day, I'd say you can't ask for anything better. Breakfast is a bit basic but acceptable. My only two concerns: a shower curtain to avoid flooding the entire bathroom (but I had an economy room) and better cleaning under the bed. Otherwise, as mentioned before, excellent value for money.

I checked out early in the morning, and they provided a packed lunch. The only minor point is the slightly steep uphill walk after a long day out.

AAToiStayed here for one night before an early morning flight and had a really lovely stay. I honestly didn’t realize until I arrived that Hotel Baškuća had been featured in TIME’s World’s Greatest Places 2025 and National Geographic Traveller’s European Cities Collection 2025; such a nice surprise and very well deserved.
The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to Baščaršija (the old bazaar), which made it very convenient for exploring Sarajevo even with a short stay. The room was very cozy, clean, and comfortable, and the amenities were all thoughtfully prepared. Everything felt well-kept and welcoming.
I had to leave very early for my flight, so unfortunately I didn’t get to try the breakfast, but I heard from others that it’s excellent.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and I’d happily recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Sarajevo especially if you want somewhere comfortable, charming, and well located.

Hotel parking too small, an alternative - easily accessible, but way overpriced public parking, probably the most expensive in Sarajevo. Cannot recommend hotel if you travel by car

The breakfast is too good for my wife, I choose my own six packages, exquisite and rich.
The little brothers at the bar are so hard, and they have to take into account the guests who order meals and the guests who come to stay at the same time.
There is no hotel sign on the facade of the building, we have been looking for two and asked for two.
The shower flow is a bit small. No TV, no air conditioning. No bottled water.

The app showed a much lower price and did not indicate that you would have to pay in cash. This is an unacceptable lag - not having mobile payment, there is nothing to expect from foreign tourists with such a condition.

GGuest UserIncredible hotel with very kind and welcoming staff. Nice and large rooms with an incredible view of the forest, a very unique experience. Would like to extend a thanks to Sanin for making the best hot chocolate I've ever had, and Mladen for serving us in the three times (!!!) we used the downstairs restaurant which had probably the best pizza I've ever had. I never use the restaurant in the hotel but this was seriously exceptional and had plenty of options. I ended up ordering Pizza Trebevic twice on two separate days. The breakfast options were good too.
Special thanks also to Mellisa at the front desk who let us check out late because our flight was late in the evening and greeted us with nothing but kindness, and booked us taxis as we needed.
The only problem you might have with the hotel is that the location is high up in the mountains. Cab drivers probably won't be very pleased to take you up easily and you will feel guilty that they drove so far for you. The hotel is basically in the middle of nowhere but the hikes around the area make it worth it. On the map it looks like it is not far from the main town but it is really far compared to other options. Go to this hotel if you intend to hike often but just bear in mind that you are high up in the mountains, far away from the old town center

AAnonymous UserHotel was good. It's a simple hotel with everything you need if you're just looking for a spot to comfortably sleep and shower with the privacy of an own room. It's close (walking distance) to the old city.
The people who work in the hotel are very friendly.
Only downsides are the breakfast which had quite limited options and the very steep hill you have to climb in order to reach it.

Disadvantages: You need to climb a steep slope to get to the hotel. There is no elevator to go upstairs. Open the window for a tomb-view room. There is a lingering smell of cigarette smoke in the room.
