The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the Shijo bus stop and 10 minutes to the subway station. With a FamilyMart conveniently located downstairs, all our breakfast and late-night snack needs were covered.
This hotel offers great value for money. The room was quite spacious, featuring a king-size bed that comfortably accommodated two people. It also came with a small sofa and a table. I was particularly pleased with the ample hangers provided.
A delightful surprise was the onsen (hot spring) bath; it was wonderfully relaxing to soak in it every evening after exploring.
My only minor point of confusion was that while the room was tidied daily, the bed itself wasn't made. It would have been nice if they could at least straighten out the sheets a bit.

The hotel's location is excellent. It's very close to Gojo Subway Station, as well as the Karasuma Gojo and Karasuma Matsubara bus stops. Getting to Kyoto Station and Shijo Kawaramachi is incredibly convenient. If you're planning to visit Daimaru Department Store, alight at Shijo Takakura Station; for Takashimaya, get off at Shijo Kawaramachi. Keep these tips in mind for your stay. The hotel offers a complimentary drink every day on the ground floor. Additionally, the sauna and soaking tubs on the basement level are fantastic and very clean – definitely worth experiencing!

We were incredibly lucky to secure a booking at this hotel for our Japan trip. We were keen to experience diverse accommodations beyond traditional ryokans, and Mitsui Kyoto Bettei truly delivered on that front.
However, sometimes even good luck can come with a bit of an adventure! The evening we checked in, it happened to be the eve of Yoiyama, a key part of the Gion Matsuri. The narrow alley right outside the hotel was completely packed with people, all gathered for a ceremony involving the festival floats. Dragging my suitcase, I literally had to elbow my way through the dense crowd just to reach the hotel entrance. At the front desk, as I handed over two passports for check-in, the staff member asked, 'Two guests?' I replied, 'Yes, but one of them is currently stuck outside!' He couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Once inside, however, the hotel was surprisingly spacious. Both the lobby and the beautiful inner courtyard featured unique and thoughtful designs. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and polite, and the lobby even had useful Gion Matsuri guides and maps available. Our room was also impeccably clean. All in all, this was hands down the best hotel we stayed at throughout our entire trip.

Environment: This is the most comfortable hotel I've stayed at during this business trip. It's very spacious! Japanese hotels are usually small, but this one is huge! The entire lobby feels very pleasant, and it smells nice too!
Facilities: Excellent and very comfortable.
Hygiene: Very clean!!
Service: They even gave me Decorté skincare products upon check-in!
Breakfast: Breakfast is on the first basement level, which is the only drawback, but the food is delicious and there's a wide variety!
Location: It's right next to Kyoto Station, opposite Kyoto Tower! The location is great!

Facilities: The hotel is well-equipped with amenities such as a gym, laundry room, and ice machines, though they are a bit on the smaller side. The rooms are quite spacious, and the bathrooms even feature separate wet and dry areas. However, the corner room I chose required a bit of a walk to get to.
Service: The staff were very friendly and attentive, upholding the high standards typical of service in Kyoto. A late check-out until 12 PM was a nice bonus.
Location: The location is average. There's a Karasuma Subway Station nearby, which you typically need to use for transfers when exploring the city. For everyday essentials and conveniences, there's a supermarket, Starbucks, and Blue Bottle Coffee all close by. However, finding a decent restaurant after 7:30 PM requires a bit of a walk.

This hotel really captures the essence of Kyoto. There's a small garden in the inner courtyard, and the hidden door designs between different sections of the hotel are quite interesting and uniquely Japanese. The hotel has a lounge offering coffee, tea, and snacks, and you can also try out little games like origami. The tableware in both the lounge and the rooms is very refined and distinctly Japanese.
The hotel also has its own onsen (hot spring bath) that guests can use for free, and it stays open quite late.
Breakfast is good, a combination of Japanese and Western buffet styles.
Plus, the hotel is very close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, within walking distance.

One of the most pleasant surprises in Kyoto! The hotel's location is fantastic, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. The environment is excellent – quiet and infused with a calming Zen fragrance. The service truly exemplifies authentic Japanese hospitality. Plus, there's a hot spring bath, which is wonderful for unwinding every evening. Highly recommend! I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.
