Will start woth the positives. Amazing location, most of the staff were very kind and helpful, the gardens are fantastic and the play area is great when waiting between outings, the room was spacious enough for a family of 4. Unfortunately the hotel left a sour taste though. During checking the reception staff decided to stop communication in English and instead to speak chinese to my partner although she had nothing to do with the trip organising and proceeded to ignore my questions until my wife asked again in chinese. We were not told any of the usual check in information such as WiFi, breakfast times, facilities, etc. Our room wasn't ready at 2:30pm as the previous tenants just checked out, told to wait 40 minutes. Waited an hour and a half, no check ups, no apology. We tried to get a late lunch at the market (all day dining) it is infact not all day, it's only breakfast and dinner. We got to the room, it had ***** hair and blood in the toilet. Broken electrical outlet with the facade falling off (very dangerous for a family room) and water damage on the wall. The cleaners did do an amazing job in the following days. Breakfast and dinner and the market had undercooked meat causing myself and my wife to get food poisoning and spend the next 24 hours stuck in the room being sick. The children's play areas floor it broken with no warning and my child tripped and hurt her self. We have stayed at many intercontinental hotels and not experienced staff this before, especially from receptionist. Luckily the rest of the staff were amazing and the general facilities were ok. We hope it was just a bad day for them and we will be staying at intercontinental again for the next leg of our trip in xishuangbanna.

It is suite well for family. We like the garden so much. They also offer a free picture taken around the hotel. We love it. The breakfast was okay. The dinner has many choices of restaurants. The room is big, nice, and very clean. The bed is comfortable.

Nice hotel with peaceful surroundings. Very welcome service at checking out. We received souvenirs which were very cute. Nice breakfast.

The stay was exceptionally great, the hotel is amazing, the staff were friendly and helpful, 10/10

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality at the hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. The room was impeccably clean, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable.

This hotel is located near the lake with seagulls coming in the winter. The hotel room is big and the buffet breakfast has many varieties. A beautiful hotel! The only drawback is that the front desk used to call about petty things like pillows, fruit plates and service after check out. This is rather annoying and disturbing while I was travelling and didn’t know if something unusual happened. A simple message by email may suffice.

Excellent stay at the Intercontinental in Kunming. The location is near the lake and a bit further out from the city centre but taxis are convenient. Very good value with spacious and clean rooms. It's a very big hotel with great facilities, including an indoor pool, 24h gym, large garden, bar and restaurants. Service was fantastic throughout our stay, and the front desk (Xiao Fu) helped with various queries promptly and also upgraded our room at check-in. Highly recommended.

I had a great experience at this hotel. It was clean and had great service.

The hotel fell short of expectations and does not meet their 5 star in many ways. 1. The hotel staff upon check in told me to pay a deposit which is almost another full day rate for my room. - Since this is not a normal practice, I questioned why is the deposit such a high amount? Almost 3000? Right after questioning, the deposit amount became an incredibly low amount of 70 yuan? The huge variance in the deposit amount which seems to be decided by the staff checking me in threw me off and made me wary of all my transactions with them from then on. 2. We booked 3 rooms. One of the room was incredibly far from the main entrance. By far I meant the walk took us 8-10mins of leisure walking. The hotel should invest in a buggy to bring their guest around and pick up from the block back to main lobby. 3. Deliveries - we ordered deliveries but there is no one to help you pick and send the order to your room. Unlike other hotels. You are expected to walk all the way out to pick it up. Mind you this is a really huge hotel the walk is at least 5 minutes from your room to the pick up area when we usually are able to get the concierge to pick up and send over the deliveries.

Very nice Hotel with excellent dinner buffet. The surroundings are great the lake is very close by.
