Taj Kumarakom Resort and Spa Kerala

Location: The hotel is beautifully located in a serene lakeside setting with stunning views of the lagoon and lake, offering easy access to nearby attractions like Vaikom Mahadeva Temple and convenient transport options from Kottayam Railway Station.

Excellent stay at Taj. The property is beautiful, and every staff member pays great attention to the guests. We were kindly upgraded to a villa room, which had a beautiful lagoon view from the balcony. Mr Ajay showed us some neat magic tricks during evening tea. Our massages at the in-house spa were incredible. The pool staff was super kind and helpful. Would highly recommend to all.

This was my third visit to Taj Kumarakom, and unfortunately it didn’t live up to the exceptional experience I had during my previous two stays. What worked well: - We booked Kochi airport transfers through the hotel. While it was on the expensive side, the cars were clean and the drivers were safe and reliable. - The property has clearly invested in activities — zip line, shikara ride, cycling, magic show, etc., which added variety to the stay. - Half-board dining had plenty of options and the team was flexible with requests. - Plenty of drinking water was provided throughout the stay, which was appreciated. - We were celebrating my friend's birthday and the surprise touch on entering the room was much appreciated. What could be improved: - Booking directly with the hotel was surprisingly frustrating. Prices kept changing across emails and some information was missing. It would have been easier to simply book through the website. - There was a lot of quantity given during meals but overall taste and quality of food can be improved. For instance, we had a meal at Taj Kochi on the way back and it was way better than Kumarakom - There was no turn-down service - something I’ve always experienced at Taj properties and all 5-star hotels. - The property has no twin-bed rooms, only queen beds. - The fresh banana chips and local snacks used to be a highlight. Now that they are outsourced, the quality and taste have dropped significantly. Overall: It was a good stay, but it lacked the luxury, warmth, and distinctive service that I usually associate with the Taj experience. The “Taj touch” was missing this time.
