"The original plan was just to have a quick lunch after a lovely morning on the backwaters - none of us expected it to turn into our favourite memory from the trip! Right from the moment we arrived we felt so welcome - big smiles, welcome drinks, handmade palm garlands. Mr. Vinpugal’s genuine warmth and kindness despite our being late for our reservation, and the entire team’s hospitality soon put us at ease. Even though we were day guests we were welcomed by GM Shabad and even got a special invite to the evening chaya kada waterside experience. The chef and wait staff were world class and we sampled 9 different dishes from the amazing menu. Every single one was a hit - and the team was kind enough to pack our leftovers for us to take home! After a laid back lunch and some time walking around the property enjoying the lake and gardens we were driven by buggy to the delicious afternoon tea. Our time was made even more special with a complimentary family photograph, some magic tricks and turtle feeding! We ended the day with a spectacular sunset. A highly recommended experience with something for everyone. If you are looking to create a special memory in Kumarakkom nothing beats the original backwater resort - the Taj!"

"The stay was very pleasant with good ambience and nature. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool very much. The restaurant is very much understaffed literally only one staff member. The buffet menu breakfast and dinner should be improved a lot i can give 2 stars max to the restaurant. The ala carte menu is good but the taste and portion is not at all worth for the price. Stay 8/10 food 5/10 restaurant 2/10 staff service 7/10 staff availablity 4/10"

"We have stayed here few times previously when we visited India. Hotel had been consistently declining and now it is pretty bad. We planned to stay a few days but checked out after staying there one night. We had informed them that we will arrive little early. Checkin time was 2 PM. We arrived there at 1.30 PM. They told us that checkin is at 2 so had to wait. We did. The room they have assigned us (booked a Luxury Pavillion Room) was really old, the AC didnot work properly, the bathroom toilet water was running and the bathroom ceiling leaked and flooded the bathroom floor. We reported to the front desk, they said “thank you”, they must have known this already. Overall this resort has declined to a two star experience, we loved our first stay here several years ago. Now the culture is totally different. We will not return to this resort again. Will try the other newer resorts with good reviews."

"Only had one night but room was very spacious with working air con on a very hot night. The staff were polite and friendly and whilst we were in the pool one of the workers offered to get us a couple of pool towels. The pool was clean and very inviting temperature. There is a really nice raised area to sit above the pool which had a slight breeze. The food in the restaurant was not that great but as nothing was really close by and we had no transport this was really only option."

"I have booked two rooms with king size bed with complementary breakfast package for single night. On arrival at the property, there was no staff at the reception. Despite the fact that it's a five star hotel, the person who takes the luggage was "omnipresent" at all scenario. He told the renovation is going on. Hence there is no kitchen/ in-room dining. Though there is tv no channels available as data cable was expired. No mini bar to store food. Poorly maintained laundry and low quality amenity for personal care."

To the management, invest some money on room conditions, you are very well located and take advantage of it."

A staff member named Anej (apologies if I got the name slightly wrong) stood out with his exceptional hospitality. The security staff also went above and beyond—he kindly looked after and entertained our kids while we enjoyed our meals. Truly wonderful service that made our experience memorable. Food was super awesome. Resort was super good. The only feedback would be taking care of the activity room with more activities and maintaining."
