Where do I even begin? Myself, my boyfriend and another couple recently stayed at Mitsis Summer Palace in Kos, booked through Love Holidays, and our experience was incredibly mixed — starting with disappointment but thankfully improving towards the end. When we arrived we were confused to find quite an outdated lobby, we checked in (which was painfully slow) and were handed an old-fashioned gold lock and key, which immediately set the tone. Once we were taken to our rooms, we were honestly shocked — they were completely outdated, poorly maintained, and absolutely nothing like what we saw online. (See photos attached) We returned to reception straight away to complain, but staff were unhelpful and dismissive. They pulled up vague sea view photos to “prove” the room was advertised. This felt rehearsed as though this was a regular complaint of theirs and, frankly, dishonest. Love Holidays wasn’t any better — it was frustrating to get a response, and when we did, they said this was what we’d booked with no further help or support. Things worsened when we discovered mould in the bathroom of one room, hair on the floors, and non-functioning air conditioning. One reception staff member, George, repeatedly brushed off our concerns — claiming the mould was “just paint” (at 10 PM, after supposedly consulting housekeeping, which didn’t happen). Eventually, we spoke to a manager (sadly didn’t get his name) who was fantastic — calm, helpful, and proactive. Within 30 minutes, he upgraded both of our rooms. We did have to spend one night in the old rooms (with the balcony doors open because the room was so hot without air-con), but by midday the next day we were moved into stunning, modern rooms — exactly what we had expected when booking. A lovely touch: we were placed right next to each other, which made the rest of our stay far more enjoyable. From that point, everything started to improve. However, before our room upgrade, we ate at the main buffet restaurant for breakfast, which was very disappointing: limited food options, messy tables, and birds flying around eating leftovers. This is also very outdated and doesn’t match the rest of the hotel what so ever. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like cutlery, and the staff didn’t seem to care. We raised this with guest services, and to their credit, they offered us daily access to the à la carte restaurants for breakfast and dinner — which truly elevated our holiday. Our À La Carte Experience: Dusk Restaurant: Our favourite. Beautiful food, great service, and such a lovely, relaxed vibe — perfect for dinner. The Med: Great for breakfast — peaceful, fresh, and with stunning views of the sea. BBQ Restaurant: Great option for grilled food and generous portions. A lovely setting in the evenings. The views from all three were gorgeous, and the dining experience finally felt like what we’d hoped for when booking. The pool areas were modern, clean, and had a great atmosphere. Plenty of sun lou
