Koa Kea Resort on Poipu Beach

Ko’a Kea is just what we were looking for: small enough to feel personal, and large enough to offer excellent services. The location could not be better: swimming beach, surfing beach & snorkeling beach right there, with a lovely pool and oceanfront lawn too. The hotel layout is charming, our room was comfortable & we had a lovely view of the ocean from our lanai. The staff were excellent: Debbie, Alex and the rest of the restaurant staff went above & beyond and Becky provided great concierge advice on activities and some lovely local tips, like Salt Pond State Park and the culinary market on Wednesdays. We will be back!

The valets. Jameson and Kamali are fantastic and so polite recommended places and wow so memorable. Definitely will come back and stay here. Housekeeping was fantastic too.

We had a short but sweet stay at Ko’a Kea Resort to cap off our two week Hawaiian vacation. It was such a quiet, tranquil gem in Poipu. We were able to enjoy some peaceful pool time and also walk right down to the beach for some waves. We cannot wait to come back for a longer stay and maximize everything on property.

The location and staff at this resort are absolutely 5 stars. We also loved that it had character and did not look a big box hotel. It was right on the coast and walking distance to Poipu beach where the turtles come to sun every day. The room itself is spacious, comfortable and well decorated. Every room has a balcony which is really lovely in Hawaii. We turned off the AC and opened the screen door every night to get some of that amazing Kauai air. The beds are super comfortable and the closets are spacious enough for all your belongings! Possibly my favorite part of our room was the shower which is huge, marble clad and had amazing water pressure! They replenish water and coffee each day and provide full cleaning service. Outside, things were very thoughtful with showers to clean off after a beach day, water stations and lots of places to sit. The pool and hottub were great and I used the hottub more than expected given that we were in the tropics! People here love to sit by the pool and the one day we were there, the same people sat in the same chairs all day! If you don’t get a pool chair by 9 am, you’re out of luck. But we were mostly out so this wasn’t an issue. The only reason I took one star off was that the resort charges for things like overnight parking and beach chairs which feels a little like nickel and diming at this price point. But honestly this was small issue and I still highly recommend this place particularly to those who want luxury but not a large hotel chain.
