This is a fantastic youth hostel! The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the two ladies there are super cute and speak excellent English! It's also very close to both the JR and Hankyu lines, just one stop from JR Sannomiya. There are many small restaurants and izakayas along the street leading to the railway station, but I didn't go there due to time constraints. I did walk to a hot spring that only Japanese people frequent. It was during those two days in Kobe that I felt like I was truly immersed in Japan, rather than just visiting those internet-famous tourist spots. However, be aware that the stairs are quite steep and there's no elevator, so consider this if you have extra luggage. Also, the staff on the first floor chat late into the night (I'm not sure if this happens every day, but it was the case the two nights I stayed). The soundproofing on the second floor is poor, so you can hear everything clearly. Early risers should also be aware of this.

Although I was on the top bunk of a bunk bed, there was a cargo platform along the way where I could place my feet on and climb up safely, and the bed also felt larger than usual, which was nice.
