We stayed here mid October, couldn't have picked a better week for great, warm weather, on arrival reception staff were friendly, cheery and helpful, Our room was on the top floor facing the war memorial, Ruthven Barracks and some of the Cairngorm Mountains, Our room was a bit dated and a bit of miss match furniture but very clean and serviced every day, there was a complimentary tray in the room, shower over the bath, a huge bed which was comfortable and comfortable pillows, there was extra pillows, blankets in the wardrobe if needed, the room was warm, we used the hotel restaurant one night, the evening meal was delicious and breakfast was buffet style, hot and cold selections, cereals, fruit, yogurts and your traditional Scottish fry up, they even had a separate toaster for those who are GF, allergies are accommodated without any grief, all staff were helpful, happy and friendly, we enjoyed our stay so much we stayed an extra night and really didn't want to leave for home, we will definitely stay here again. I must add that due to my own allergies some items are missing from my main meal, I was offered an alternative but I declined.

Just home from a wonderful 5 day holiday with Cairngorm Travel. The journey up to Kingussie was long, but so worth it. Our coach driver Paul was fun, friendly and very knowledgeable during all our excursions, and therefore even the early starts were bearable! The Duke of Gordon is a lovely hotel. I was sceptical having read some previous reviews but I needn’t have worried. The hotel has a traditional feel and therefore some details seem a little “dated” and some need modernising (which I believe the hotel is in the process of doing), but everywhere was spotlessly clean. The food was very tasty and there was an adequate variety to choose from on the menu each night. Portion size was enough to prompt the word “stuffed” at the end of the meal. Breakfast was buffet style and again provided choice…not only about what to eat, but how much! All that being said, the biggest selling point for the Duke of Gordon is the friendliness, professionalism and dedication of the staff. It almost seems unfair to single people out because they were all wonderful, but special mentions have to go to Remy, the barman from Bacton (apologies, I didn’t get his name) and the tall lady with the curly dark hair who appeared everywhere (again, I didn’t get her name) who always greeted us like old friends and were always ready to go that extra mile. Thank you. A fabulous time was had by us all. Highly recommended.
