The Kauai Inn ★★★
"Overall, it offers good value for money and is a recommended place to stay on Kauai! [What I liked] - The staff were all very kind and provided excellent service. - It's a unique experience to have breakfast with cats, peacocks, and chickens. - There are live music events on the terrace on certain days of the week, which created a great atmosphere. - Breakfast included yogurt and bagels, simple but perfectly satisfying. - It was convenient to have water and coffee available at any time. [What I was concerned about] - (As of March 2026) Due to road closures, access from the airport was a long detour and a little inconvenient. - Towels and sheets are not changed unless requested. - I felt something like house dust or mold in the room, which caused sneezing and coughing. - The air conditioner was quite loud, making it difficult to sleep with it on. Overall, despite some minor issues, considering the price, the satisfaction level is high, and I think it's a good place to stay casually on Kauai."
Sheraton Kauai Resort ★★★★
"The environment is really nice"
THE ISO HOTEL, Trademark Collection by Wyndham ★★★
"We only needed a room for the night however I was pleasantly surprised. The location was gorgeous, we had an ocean view on the first floor and there was a bonus sunrise yoga on the lawn which was perfect. I would definitely stay at an ISO again. Mahalo"
Aston Islander on The Beach ★★★
"Good for friends and couples, try not to bring kids because of the hot tub not allowing them. Poolside bar as well open until 9"
Kauai Palms Hotel ★★
"Nice, friendly service, well located and close to the airport, 24-hour laundry and shopping malls nearby"
Sheraton Kauai Resort Villas ★★★★
"This was the best hotel we stayed at during our trip, and also the most expensive at over $4000 a night! The environment, service, and facilities were all top-notch. Free parking and an unbeatable view were major pluses. The room came with a washing machine, dryer, electric stove, microwave, and a complete set of kitchenware and dishes. This was a wonderful surprise for us, as there really aren't many good food options on Kauai. We bought some groceries at the supermarket and cooked several meals ourselves, which was great. It saved us a lot of money and even cured our 'Chinese stomach'! If the price were closer to $1000 a night, I'd happily stay here for a whole month."
Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu, Autograph Collection ★★★★
"It's a pity we didn't book a larger room. The facilities were complete and clean, and the service was very nice and responsive. This hotel is perfect for family vacations with children, and the pool is fantastic! The Holoholo restaurant in the hotel is delicious, and the shopping mall next door is very convenient for shopping and dining. Poipu Beach is also very close."
Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay ★★★
"It was raining when we got there so needless to say, we were ankle deep in water trying to get to our cottage. The tub drained very slowly so again ankle deep in bath water taking a shower. The swimming pool is small and it looked either dirty or moldy, I don’t know hard to tell, but I didn’t see anyone use it while I was there. The staff were super nice, though so that was good!"
OUTRIGGER Kaua'i Beach Resort & Spa ★★★★
"It feels pretty good."

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa
"The surroundings are superb, with the beach, greenery, ocean, and palm trees all within walking distance and visible right from your window. It's an amazing spot for watching both sunset and sunrise. The room facilities are a bit dated, but the breakfast is plentiful, and the hotel offers a variety of restaurants to choose from. There are also many facilities for guests to enjoy, and evening performances."
Hilton Vacation Club the Point at Poipu Kauai
"Very family friendly"
Plantation Hale Suites
"A nice hotel close to the beach and a local market with bars, restaurants and supermarket. The location is pretty good. The room was clean and spacious. There were also some pools and hot tub, and also a place for a barbecue."
Marriott's Kaua'i Beach Club
"It's rather old. The main issue is that the photos make it seem like there's a sofa and a bed, but the bed is actually a pull-down wardrobe bed with the sofa cushions removed. The air conditioner is very loud, and the sea view is obstructed."
Koa Kea Resort on Poipu Beach
"Beautiful location close to the beach. First room we were shown was extremely dark so we asked to change to a different one that didn't require to have the lights on during the day. Restaurant was decent, bed was comfortable. The one time we wanted to spend some time by the pool there weren't any chairs left, so would advise to go early to secure a spot."
The Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort Lihue
"Advantages: Good location, close to the airport, spacious and comfortable rooms, beautiful environment. Problems: 1. A huge cockroach was found in the bathroom. 2. The hotel cleans the room every two days. It was cleaned on the second day, and no cleaning was needed before check-out on the third day, but a staff member knocked on the door demanding cleaning as soon as I woke up. Their attitude was aggressive. It's outrageous."
1 Hotel Hanalei Bay
"Hotel was very clean and nice but a bit overpriced All employees were fabulous Food was too expensive and we mostly ate elsewhere."
Marriott's Kauai Lagoons - Kalanipu'u
"The Marriott Vacation Club at Kauai lagoons is not all it seems to be. While the time share is beautiful, it is virtually isolated. The pool is very small. There is no access to a bar on the property. The same is with food - - no access on the property. Also, the property does not have a beach. Lastly, there is no access to the nearby hotel (and restaurants) from the property other than a personal car, as walking is long and tedious, especially if one has any difficulty walking. There was, at one time, access via a cart furnished by the property (Marriott). There is none now. While I expressed my concerns to the management, I was advised that all my complaints (see the foregoing) have been made many times before and nothing will be done about them. So, if one does not have a car and has difficulty walking, one is virtually stranded at the Lagoons. On all of our previous visits we at least had a golf cart furnished by Marriott to get us to the restaurants at the hotel on the property. The Marriott Vacation Club website does not mention any of the foregoing. Potential visitors should be made aware of the property shortcomings. Clearly, Marriott has the financial ability to fix the aforementioned issues, but they refuse to do so. Bottom Line: this is the LAST time I will visit this property."
Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort
"This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, costing over 1000 RMB per night, anywhere in the world. 2000 RMB a night isn't cheap, so the service being this bad is unbelievable. The front desk staff were rude; they said the double room I booked was unavailable and gave me a twin room instead, but then put me in a damp corner room on the second floor with mosquitoes. They then hinted at a better sea-view room and asked for a tip, but sorry, the more they did that, the less likely they were to give a tip. The next day, when they came to clean, they only made one bed; the other was left untouched. The Wi-Fi was so slow it was almost unusable. The attitude of the hotel staff, from the front desk to all the other staff, was extremely unfriendly... This is truly the worst star-rated hotel I've ever stayed in."
The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas
"This hotel is fantastic! It's a villa-style hotel with everything you could need in the room: a washer and dryer, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, a kitchen, and a dishwasher—very convenient. The environment is also great, the pool and hot spring are nice, and the restaurant service is excellent. The food selection is average, but that's typical for white people, I guess. Overall, it exceeded my expectations, and I really enjoyed the hotel."
Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club
"I just checked in and it is awful. Everything is old in the rooms and it smells musty and old. I feel like I am in a motel and not a Marriott. I am so disappointed to have traveled across the world and have to stay here. 🤢"
Club Wyndham Ka Eo Kai
"We had a great stay. Some quick notes: wifi was good enough to sustain constant work meetings with videos. Theres no staff at front desk after 10pm. There's no food available on site. Self Laundry worked very well. The bus stop is close to property. 10-15 min walk. The only thing we wished was that we could rent bikes from this location but you can only rent from sister location Bali Hai."
Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa Kauai by Outrigger
"Could've had vending machines available with water, soda and cookies. Other than that everything was wonderful."
Hanalei Colony Resort
"The hotel doesn't do housekeeping every day, but everything you need is provided. Very convenient, and I especially liked their bath towels. They're even better than some five-star hotel towels. I saw a rainbow this morning! 🌈"
Timbers Kauai Ocean Club & Residences
"We were met by the host with cold towels and juice but we were not invited to the neighboring lounge that made it embarrassing to wipe sweat in front of everyone. Our host did not include a complete tour, just comments along the way to our room. For example, we were told that we could order food and drinks using a QR code at the tables. It doesn’t exist. We were told there was a grill at the pool. It turns out that it was a pool toy depot only. We were told there were electric bikes available. It turns out it’s for owners only. Our sea view room was pool chairs and bushes, no view. The seaside Infinity pool had a sign that said ”Owners and Their Registered Guests Only”. So no resort experience there. We ordered food in advance to stock our refrigerator including 3 six packs of water. We receive 3 cases of water and we left two full cases when we departed. About on-third of our order was not fulfilled. The restaurant was a highlight. Great sea food and we ate there 5 times. There was also great musical entertainment. It’s weird, not once did a manager ask about our experience. It’s definitely not a Michelin star experience. The best part was going off the resort including golf. The golf staff was wonderful. We chose Timbers to determine if we should invest as owners given the reciprocal world wide opportunities. It’s not very refined."
The Lodge at Kukui'Ula
"As I sit on my patio in my very spacious and well appointed bungalow, it is easy to understand why The Lodge at Kukui'ula is the #1 resort on Kauai, The rental bungalows are inside a private property which has incredibly beautiful grounds, even for the Garden Island, with lush open areas, ocean views, an outstanding golf course, very cool pools, a dynamite spa and a superb restaurant! No gratuities allowed and any charges go to your bungalow account automatically. A very upscale experience in a development of multi-million dollar homes but in a quaint and very private atmosphere. The staff is absolutely amazing! The lodge also has a garden for touring with garden products made available daily for free in a kiosk in front of the clubhouse. We also attended the Garden Dinner which is on site at the Garden and happens once every month or so. Open bar, fabulous foods and entertainment with a chance to mingle with property owners who were very friendly, gracious and accommodating. It has everything you would want or need. Almost no need to leave the property but, of course, you will because, after all, this is Kauai! We have traveled to all of the islands in Hawaii and have stayed in incredible resorts all over the world but we always look forward to returning to The Lodge at Kukui'ula."
