Sadly, we had a dampened experience here. We visited evita a few weeks ago, had no issues, the resort was nice for the most part, the staff were friendly although some pushy at times to go to parties etc. However, toward the end of our holiday, we noticed our money and a personal belonging had been taken from our room. We reported this immediately and went back for an update in the morning as we noticed this late at night. This was the last day of the holiday and we were due to leave late at the night. We were told to wait in the lobby so they could review the security footage as there was a cctv camera facing our door on the ground floor. We waited for many hours for them to review this, and then we were told the camera was broken. We were also told there was no chance it was a member of staff, so i’m assuming there is no investigation there. We realised that my airpods that were taken were tracked to be in an area of Rhodes which we had never visited, in apartments. We were told by Evita staff to go to the police, but we did not want to go to the police without the security camera footage, which we did not have, and waste the last of our holidays sat in there. We later agreed to do so, reception booked us a taxi to the police station, which ended up taking us to the location of the airpods. I was very confused as i’m not authorised to search apartments and was quite angry when we got back to the hotel. While we were gone, we went back to see the camera outside the door of our room, and noticed it had been taken down. This seemed quite suspicious to us. We were then met by a lady who i think was the supervisor, who then accused me of “accusing her staff of stealing” which was simply not true. Her tone was rude and we felt as if we were blamed for the whole situation. We had lost four hundred euro and a couple hundred pounds, as well as a pair of airpods. The hotel did not seem fazed in the slightest and it became very frustrating, as we are young and felt like we were being taken advantage of. Security is a given in any open resort which anyone can walk in to. The fact that it wasn’t noticed that the camera was broken is appalling. We were taken to whom i presume is the manager who also seemed quite annoyed, but he then agreed to give us a sum of money to be able to travel back, as we were leaving which is appreciated. However, they still seemed annoyed that we were not going to the police, which we know would not have been a good use of time with 0 evidence due to the lack of security. I would advise caution to those visiting who are young or vulnerable.
