"I had the worst experience at the Sonesta Hotel in Irvine. Upon check-in, they charged me $229 without any explanation, but the receipt I checked later showed only $179.85. The staff even denied having any record of the payment. Furthermore, even though I was clearly checking out tomorrow, they arbitrarily processed it as a same-day checkout, rendering my room key unusable, and the room I finally managed to enter hadn't even been cleaned. I cannot shake the feeling that I was subjected to blatant discrimination and disregard as an Asian traveler. Although I eventually received a refund after filing an official complaint, I absolutely do not recommend a hotel with such unreasonable service and an opaque payment system. I will never return here."

"The room is large and well-equipped. The waiter is very nice and willing to say hello. There are many cafes and restaurants around, and it is also nice to take a walk. During that time, the smoke alarm malfunctioned, causing false alarms and loud ringing, but fortunately it was repaired in an hour."

"The room has windows that can be opened, and the light and air are good. The front desk guy knew that we were staying again and gave us a good room. The service was also very warm and responsive, although we didn't need daily cleaning. One of the elevators was under maintenance so it was a bit slow. The coffee and tea were gone after breakfast, but other hotels provide coffee and tea all day."
