"Our hotel stay was excellent! The front desk service was top-notch. They even upgraded our reserved executive king room. The sofa in the room was very comfortable, and the space was quite large. All the amenities were well-equipped, and the bathrobe was especially cozy. The guide they provided upon check-in was also super comprehensive, featuring lots of Teochew specialty foods. "Finally, Shantou has a decent five-star hotel! 😂 When I visited in 2023, the best hotel was the Sheraton, but it was really old and made my overall experience in Shantou quite mediocre. Honestly, it's because of a beautiful hotel like this that I feel inspired to visit. Hahaha... People with high hotel standards might choose a city specifically for a certain hotel. The Shantou Marriott gives me exactly that feeling. Shantou has a lot of amazing food, but most of it is found in street-side stalls or local open-air restaurants, which are very down-to-earth. While authentic delicious food is everywhere, the dining environments can be a bit basic, to be honest, no offense intended. There's this incredible feeling of happiness when you return to the hotel lobby after sweating it out at a street stall or grabbing a snack in an alleyway. It truly feels like coming home, haha. I think people who prioritize accommodation might understand this feeling. This is hands down the best hotel in Shantou, hehe 😉 The hotel is in an excellent location in the new CBD, offering the best views! 👍 Unbeatable sea views, encompassing Shantou's most beautiful bay, the bridge, the pier, and some small islands. In my opinion, it offers the best scenery in Shantou, bar none. So, if you come to Shantou, you absolutely must stay at the Marriott; you won't regret it. Two nights are plenty. Although the executive lounge doesn't have a huge variety of food, what they do have is incredibly delicious. I ate two plates of mussels! The alcohol isn't top-shelf, but their special concoctions are addictive. The Gin & Tonic and 'Private Cuba' (I assume a specialty cocktail) were excellent 🥰 We spent two consecutive evenings there, enjoying drinks and the most beautiful night views of Shantou... It was truly relaxing! Both the sea view and city view rooms offer fantastic scenery. So don't overthink it; even the standard rooms are perfectly fine if you're on a tighter budget 🤌 because the lobby bar also has stunning views. You can sit down, have a drink, and enjoy the scenery. The hotel's service is absolutely outstanding. From the front desk to the lobby bar and even the security staff, they provide the best service quality in Shantou. I wholeheartedly give them a positive review for this! 👍 Honestly, the front desk staff was incredibly patient and even gave us a local food guide. For someone who's too lazy to plan, it felt incredibly thoughtful. It would be great if every hotel did this! 😋 I forgot to thank Carter from the front desk when I checked out 🤌. He was so patient and answered all my questions. He also shared a lot of authentic Shantou food recommendations with me. Big thumbs up to them for their hard work! "After doing some research, I picked this hotel because it has a pool and is near the food street. The location is indeed great, and there's an underground parking lot. It's an older star-rated hotel, and the value for money is decent. Within a one-kilometer radius, you can find all sorts of local specialties. Now, about the room – it's incredibly dated, almost beyond description, haha. Honestly, on the first day, I almost wanted to check out. There's no smart toilet, and the furniture and lighting make you feel like you've traveled back thirty years. The lobby even had a sewage smell sometimes. However, after staying for two days, I noticed that this whole district seems pretty old. Plus, the service was good, it was clean, and most importantly, it had a pool. So, given the hot weather, I decided not to bother looking for another place."

"This hotel exceeded my expectations. I was a bit hesitant to book after reading some reviews about outdated facilities. However, upon arrival, I found the hotel to possess the classic grandeur and elegance of an older five-star establishment. The room was clean, the front desk service was professional, and the location was fantastic – just a short walk to Longyan South Road Food Street. I was in a rush and didn't get a chance to take photos of the room, but the online pictures accurately reflect the actual room, which I really liked."

"The room was pretty good and quiet. I drew the curtains and slept soundly until 9 AM. The breakfast was also nice, especially the pasta, which was delicious. I was a bit tired and didn't feel like going out, so I ordered takeout. A robot delivered it, which was very convenient. Overall, the quality was assured, much better than the 'mystery box' experience of some B&Bs."

"This was my first stay at Atour, and I'm totally hooked! The location is fantastic; we usually just strolled back after eating every day. Facilities: Atour's pillows really live up to their reputation. I tried the original 1.0 and then requested the 3.0 pillow. The 1.0 is firmer, and the 3.0 is softer. Personally, I preferred the 1.0. Overall, I slept really well! The soundproofing was just okay. I could hear some noise from next door every day, but thankfully, people were considerate, so there wasn't any sustained noise. However, staying on the top floor meant I heard a loud, continuous noise (from an air conditioning unit?) on weekend nights. Service: The young lady who cleaned our floor was excellent. She did a great job, kept everything very clean, and was incredibly attentive to our needs. When she saw we'd finished our water, she'd leave extra bottles, and if we ran out of cotton swabs, she'd leave extra packs. Thumbs up! The bespectacled young man who checked us in on the first day was also wonderful. He recommended a floor and room based on our preferences, and we ended up using an upgrade voucher for a room with a round window on the top floor, which was great! They offer a fantastic service where they collect dirty clothes, wash, dry, and fold them, then return them. This was absolutely brilliant! I asked for a hair clip without much hope, but they actually had one! Such a heavenly hotel! Minor shortcomings: One night, someone knocked on my door in the middle of the night. It turned out the hotel had mistaken the room number. Do you understand the fear of being woken up by a man knocking on your door in the middle of the night? I checked the time, it was 00:09, and I couldn't get back to sleep for ages... When we were going up, an employee with a huge trolley full of water insisted on sharing the elevator with us. Despite our request for him to take the next one, I ended up being squeezed into a corner... I hope Atour pays attention to their employees' work experience. I could sense their eagerness for good reviews was a company mandate, but it's really not necessary. If you do a good job, word-of-mouth will naturally follow!"

"Wow, this hotel was probably the biggest surprise of our trip! When we checked in, the front desk told us they could upgrade our room for free. I couldn't believe it – the room rate was already so affordable, and they actually offered a free upgrade! What an amazing hotel! Second, the location is truly excellent. It's right inside a small park, and it only takes 5 minutes to walk to the landmark attraction, Shantou Hotel. I'm so, so happy about that – it made sightseeing and taking photos incredibly convenient. I don't even need to mention things like the clean rooms and good soundproofing. The housekeeper proactively asked if we needed our room cleaned, and can you believe all the fizzy drinks in the mini-bar are free? Even though the hotel isn't huge, it's got everything you need. They have dedicated parking spaces, seven in total, and two of them even have charging stations! My goodness, it's like it was custom-made for me! All in all, the experience was fantastic. Everyone should stay here!!!!!"
