This time I brought my wife to Taichung for her birthday, and we stayed at the Norway Forest Cultural Center for the first night. We arrived early to drop off our luggage and immediately experienced the friendly and polite service, which made me feel happy and warm. Although there was a minor issue with the air conditioning in our room when we checked in that evening, the front desk manager came up and helped us switch to a larger and more comfortable room. Their service attitude was also super nice. It's no wonder this hotel has reviews above 9 – it's absolutely deserved. If I have the chance to come again, it will definitely be my first choice! 🥰

very compact room. minimal space to hang clothes on top of pantry. near to train station, opposite famous miyahara shop (window view of this room). room and toilet are clean if you don't pay close attention to corners. good water pressure and temp for shower. depending on staff, you could meet someone friendly or someone who don't even smile while check in/out.

Guest UserThe hotel's location is quite convenient, close to Taichung Railway Station and Miyahara Eye Hospital! The front desk staff are enthusiastic and helpful. If you have vegetarian friends traveling with you, you can inform the front desk a day in advance, and they will prepare a separate vegetarian breakfast, which is very thoughtful. However, the breakfast selection isn't very extensive. The hotel also offers a paid self-service laundry and late-night instant noodles. In the evening, everyone can go to the second basement floor to cook their own meals while watching movies. There's a 7-Eleven nearby, just a short walk away, and a Watsons a bit further down Wangyuan Road where you can buy daily necessities.

Anonymous UserThe staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was definitely convenient, making it easy to get around. However, the room could have been cleaner and the overall cleanliness was below my expectations. If you’re staying here, I would suggest not expecting too much in terms of room condition and cleanliness. That said, the friendly staff and convenient location are the main positives.

Guest UserThe first day we arrived there was a city cleaning and so there were so many cockroaches on the first floor but the staff was trying to clean it and it's not their fault. The rooms are very spacious and nice. Breakfast also included and very delicious. (The fries are the besttttt) Tho you have to walk a bit to another hotel, the aunty there is really nice! They no longer provide you plastic amenities but i guess that's for every hotel in Taiwan. Overall a really nice place to stay!

EloiseLouThe place was very clean, and the front desk staff were friendly. They didn't provide toothbrushes or toothpaste; you had to buy them. Slippers were provided, though. There's a market nearby where you can buy fruits for souvenirs. Also, there's a fantastic restaurant close by that serves amazing sesame oil pork kidney and sesame oil chicken – a must-try!

Guest UserOverall, it's a great hotel. The facilities, staff, cleanliness, and convenience are all excellent. I would definitely choose this hotel again if I visit Taichung.
I didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on that.
However, there were a couple of things I wasn't happy about: (1) The hotel has self-service laundry, but I only found out when I got to the laundry room that it's only open from 9 AM to 10 PM daily (who wants to spend their prime travel time doing laundry in the hotel?). And at 9 AM, you have to call someone to open the door, and there's no air conditioning in the waiting area... Wouldn't it be more normal to have the laundry room on a non-guest room floor? (2) If there are no personal items on the towels placed on the chairs, it's generally fine to remove them. But I had placed clothes on the towel, and the towel was still taken, which I found really puzzling.

Guest UserFacilities: The room wasn't huge, but it had everything I needed. The bathroom was very spacious with both a shower and a bathtub 🛁, which was great.
Service: Excellent! Every staff member was wonderful, especially Rich, who was incredibly attentive and made me feel very well looked after.
Cleanliness: Good.
Environment: The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but it was decent, and they had my favorite, salad.

Kimchi2630I recently spent two nights at The Metro Hotel (豪爵大飯店台中館) in Taichung, and overall, it was a very practical, comfortable, and well-situated experience. Located right on Wuquan Road in the West District, this 3.5-star property strikes an excellent balance between affordability and convenience. If you are looking for a reliable base to explore the city, here is a detailed breakdown of my stay.
The room was spacious, exceptionally clean, and featured a nice view of the surrounding city. The bed was on the firmer side but very supportive, providing a great night's sleep after long days of walking. A major highlight for me was the climate control. I absolutely need a cool sleeping environment and always set the thermostat to 21°C; thankfully, the room’s air conditioning was powerful and maintained that crisp, chilly temperature perfectly throughout both nights.
There are two minor caveats to the room:
• Electrical Outlets: There are very few power outlets available. If you have multiple devices to charge (phone, laptop, power banks), I highly recommend bringing a small travel extension cord.
• Soundproofing: While the room itself was peaceful, the door soundproofing is a bit lacking. You can occasionally hear other guests in the hallway or neighboring doors closing.
The hotel provides all the essential basics without overcomplicating things. The bathroom was roomy with great water pressure and came stocked with standard toiletries. A huge plus for travelers is the self-service laundry room located on the 5th floor.
The front desk staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful with luggage storage. It is worth noting that they strictly enforce their 4:00 PM check-in time—you generally cannot get into your room a minute earlier—but they do offer a generous 12:00 PM check-out, allowing for a relaxed morning.
