Taichung Hotels with Bars

I wrote in my initial booking that this was an Anniversary trip, I was quite surprised that the hotel did not do nor acknowledge such things and that quite bothered me. First impressions do lasts and I also had an incident in their restaurant that serves buffet, where there was a insect (almost cockroach like) in the soup which was honestly very shocking for a 5 star restaurant but the recovery of how they handled was not great and no follow up was done. Overall, I wasn’t as happy staying here as I thought I would. But I won’t definitely be coming back.

This hotel is close to Feng Chia Night Market and offers convenient parking. The rooms are new, clean, and modernly designed, with a great wet/dry separation in the bathroom. The breakfast selection is extensive, and they even offer a late-night snack service, which is a nice touch.

The location of this hotel is excellent, and the staff were consistently friendly, polite, and genuinely tried to help whenever we needed anything. Unfortunately, the hotel itself has some significant issues. Our room had a strong mould smell that was impossible to ignore. This isn’t something that can be solved with air freshener or a quick spray by housekeeping—it points to a deeper moisture problem that requires a proper investment in repairs. Until that is addressed, it seriously affects the comfort of the stay. The food was also disappointing and well below what we expected. We also tried to book a massage during our stay, but every time we went down, there was no one there. The counter staff seemed unsure of what was happening, which made the experience feel disorganized. I want to emphasize that the staff did their best and were always courteous. The problems seem to be with the property and its management rather than the employees. With its excellent location, this hotel has a lot of potential, but it needs to address the mould issue properly and improve some of its facilities and services.

The environment is great and very clean, especially the lobby with board games and old-school arcade games. My friends and I had a lot of fun playing there. As for the room, although a bit small, it was very clean, and the ability to connect the TV to YouTube and Netflix was the most important feature.

This was my first time bringing my mom to Taichung, and we chose to stay at the Howard Plaza Hotel Taichung. The room was huge, with two large beds, easily accommodating four people. It's truly great value for money. I'll definitely choose to stay at the Howard Plaza Hotel again next time I'm in Taichung.

We happened to have one night available and booked their Deluxe Room with Kitchen. I loved this twin bed room which had a small washer +dryer combo, kitchenette, sitting room with small couch and rotating TV. The bathroom was my favorite - spacious, nice modern design elements, bright and substantial shelving. Overall the place was bright comfortable apartment-style stay, home away from home with a modern and higher end feel. We used the small gym which had everything we needed - incline treadmills, mats, free weights, nice city views. We didn't get to use their dry and wet saunas but it would have been really nice as they are on the rooftop. The facilities are only available during certain staffed hours but was enough for us. Breakfast was good. I didn't mind the limited variety as the quality was enough with fresh salad options, toasty bread and ********* and american options. The only minor downsides were the hot food got a bit cold because they kept the lids up and they didn't have mild alternatives like oatmilk for coffee/cappuccino. Also public transportation is less accessible in that area. But otherwise I would stay there again in a second! Front desk staff were very helpful :)

SOF hotel has a very unassuming first impression. From its neighborhood, one cannot anticipate the modern and purposefully curated pieces in it. I believe the building was restored and re-purposed. What I love most is its staff, they are so homey and kind, always ready to assist. Special thanks to the young ladies and gentleman who helped us make phone calls to book transportation, made enquires about the schedules of our next travel segments and offered us bandaid. They never fail to offer us a drink every time they see us. The location requires some walking, like to Taichung Train station. If walking with luggages, it can be tiring. Without load, it is rather doable journey and a good exercise. The space within the room was small yet sufficient, with minimalist design in its furnitures and items provided - like sofa, kettle, water dispenser at every level. In my opinion they are all curated with intent and sustainability in mind. Looking at the price point to space avail to guests, I think they offered a very reasonabl pricing. I appreciated that there is no excess items or even spaces that are wasted. I’m paying for exactly what I needed from these accommodation. Thank you once again to the lovely staff! I appreciate Taichung so much more with your help. I hope to be back again.

Cubed dormitories, 4-6 in a room with a locker and shared bathrooms. If you’re quickly traveling and just need a place to rest/wash up, for the price it’s a good option. Modern toilets, decent showers w/ shampoo & bodywash. Towels cost extra. The cubbies have a light outlets for charging your devices. Decent common area and can buy a pint or coffee on ground floor. Nearby has shops and food. Front desk staff were charming, informative and proficient. Good if on a budget or passing thru.

This time I stayed at the Ful Won Hotel in Taichung. Its location is incredibly convenient: right next to the MRT City Hall Station, with bus stops on both sides of the main road, making transfers to other places easy. It's very friendly for those who don't want to drag their luggage too far. The hotel exterior looks a bit old, giving the impression it's been around for a while. However, when we got to our floor, there was a rather strong paint smell in the corridor, suggesting the hotel had recently undergone renovations or repainting. The room itself was generally clean, and the basic amenities were sufficient, making for an acceptable stay. But there are two design flaws that really need mentioning: 1. **Poorly designed bedside power outlets:** The outlets are located behind the pillows. If you try to charge your phone while lying down, the plug can easily shift or even poke your head, which is inconvenient and poses a slight safety concern. 2. **Too dark in the bathtub area:** After pulling the shower curtain for a shower, it's almost pitch black inside the curtain because the bathtub area lacks independent lighting. It's not very comfortable to use. What I do want to praise is the service at the front desk in the lobby: I asked about good food nearby, and the staff gave many suggestions with a very good attitude. Plus, the lobby space is very spacious with comfortable sofas, making it convenient for waiting or resting. In summary: If you prioritize convenient transportation and good service, this hotel is perfectly acceptable. However, if you care about in-room details (outlet placement, bathtub lighting) and are sensitive to smells, you should be prepared.

The hotel boasts a clean and tidy environment, with well-equipped rooms in a new co-living style structure. The front desk is located at the right entrance on the first floor, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The location is super convenient, close to Taichung HSR Station, Wuqi Train Station, and bus stops. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, perfect for shopping and enjoying local food.
