There are many specialty shops near the location, and you can enter many pleasing places within walking distance.
The saloon is the most satisfying place for me on this trip. The overall feeling is relaxing and comfortable. The only drawback is that there are many small mosquitoes in the shower room. Otherwise, it would be more satisfactory.

As a backpacker, I was very impressed by the Lane 62 Youth Hostel in Taichung. The location here is superior, located on Section 5 of Taiwan Boulevard, with convenient transportation, a bus stop at the doorstep, banks and convenience stores nearby, and complete living facilities. The hostel is fully equipped with comfortable beds, clean bathroom facilities and a shared kitchen for self-catering. The public space is cozy and suitable for communicating and sharing travel stories with travelers from all over the world. Affordable price and high cost performance. The only downside is that it is close to Taiwan Boulevard, so there might be some traffic noise, but it didn't affect me much. Overall, Lane 62 Youth Hostel is an ideal accommodation choice for backpackers in Taichung.

KKuen HawThe hotel is near fengjia night market. All toiletries are provided in the hotel room. There is a lounge with complimentary snacks and hot beverages. There is also a laundry area for you to wash your clothes.
Overall, excellent stay. Will book the hotel again if I come Taichung.

CCHUN LIANG GERALDHad a great stay at Hotel Si! The showers had constant hot water with strong pressure, and they even provided travel adapters. The water dispensers on every floor were clean and convenient. The lobby was spacious, open, and beautifully decorated with plenty of plants.
However, an important thing to note—our room had a balcony, and the toilet was located outside on it. This can be inconvenient, especially at night or in winter when you have to take a few chilly steps back to the bedroom after a shower.
The Sealy bed was super comfortable, but the blanket wasn’t the best. The duvet cover kept shifting due to loose ties, which left empty spaces inside. The TV was large and had YouTube and Netflix, but it was quite laggy—maybe Haier isn’t the best brand for TVs.
On the plus side, the location is fantastic! There’s a great massage parlour and a live band bar nearby. That said, the strict 4 PM check-in policy can lead to long queues, and parking is limited to just five spots outside, though alternatives are available.
One small suggestion—the hotel might want to consider rebranding as ”Hotel Xi” instead of ”Hotel Si,” as ”Si” means ”die” in Mandarin, which is a cultural taboo for Chinese guests.
Overall, it’s a decent option if the price is right. The separate toilet setup was a huge downside for me, but the convenience of the location makes up for it. Would consider staying again!

BBlueSkyPerthLocation was very good, walkable to a number of tourist attractions such as Painted Animation Lane.
Room had the necessary features, though small and tired looking. Comfortable bed. Towels were changed daily but need to be completely replaced. All the towels are very thin.
Breakfast was passable. I had croissant and bread each morning. There was a multi-lingual coffee machine that provided espresso or americano. Cold milk can be added to coffee and heated up in microwave.
Marcus at the front desk was friendly. He helped us out when our travel adapter didn't work.
Overall, a comfortable stay. Just go with an open mind :)

AAnnieHsuTaiwanIt is a temporary accommodation. The hotel is located in the city center and the special parking lot is not far away. It is within a 5-minute walk. It is very convenient. It is clean and convenient. The front desk staff at night and during the day are very happy to answer questions and there is no feeling of impatience at all. The room is just so-so. The air-conditioning in the room is very comfortable. The bath water is hot enough and the water pressure is strong enough. It's a pity that there is no breakfast.

TTabby YipComfy room with bright color and interesting designs, great location, just around 10mins. walk from train station. And they offer free breakfast, afternoon tea and supper to guests accommodating, that's really nice👍🏽 very helpful and proactive staff at front desk, excellent!!

LLeslie TravelsI feel that Sof have a really good design concept. The open air concept in the walkway to our room , really bring out the special vibe of this hotel. However the amenities is lacking. There was no bidet and toothpaste provided.
The location is not perfect as it was the red light district of Taichung. A few of ********** can be found standing clost to the hotel.

SStepfy NgHotel room quite big,clean and worth the price. Location good near the Taichung train station walk within 3 minutes. Good place to use the public transport, walk within 1 minute have the convenient shop 7/11 and family mart. Even come with HSR and transfer via TRA go to this hotel also very easier. The bad thing is this hotel do not have rest place to microwave takeaway food, u need to finished the food in your room and do not have water purifier. If wanna get some hot water refill may need to get free from Family mart. Anyway, I'm still enjoying in this hotel.

KKuantingIt can be seen that the hotel is an old hotel. It takes several attempts to open the door with the room card sensor. There are not many choices for breakfast. During the 9 o'clock breakfast period, the items are not replenished quickly. There are not many parking spaces around. If you check in late, you need to walk a long way. The room was clean enough, but the handrail next to the toilet made it a little difficult to extract the toilet paper. The advantages are that children have tokens that can be used to twist a stamp when they check in, and the sound insulation is pretty good. The disadvantages are that the overall appearance is relatively retro, and there are no water dispensers on every floor, so you have to go to the first floor to get water.

GGuest UserI misread the description in Chinese so this was partly my fault for booking a rather shabby room! The staff were very helpful and friendly though, so that was really lovely.
The location was great, and I could easily get around. The only thing was really the amenities inside the room for this room type was flabbergasting! In short, every item inside was just old and of bare quality. You can have old furniture but have the furniture well-maintained. To name a few, the slippers provided were torn, the inside of the fridge was rusty, and there was no shower curtain inside the bathroom!
The price was within my budget during peak season and I didn’t want to spend more, plus all other rooms were full, so I didn’t have much to complain about my stay. The bed was comfy and the room was spacious enough. But objectively speaking for the price I was charged, it was definitely pricey given the quality of the room. All I can say is, the photos provided by the hotel were definitely adjusted heavily for lighting and colour.
Nevertheless I enjoyed my stay as the room fit my purpose for the stay. It was rather cozy. :)
