"The hosts were friendly and the young female assistant was helpful and polite. Location is great, near to the well-known fall and the lake is in front of the residence. Private onsen facilities are great though they are not available in the morning. Foods provided are in Western style and they are good, but not that great. Guests are reminded to tell the hosts on how to cook the steak, especially if well-done is not their preference. No elevator but many steps means you have to have strong muscle to move the heavy buggages from the car to the room."

"A traditional Japanese hotel, the package includes one night and two meals. The food and portion sizes are very thoughtful, the room is quite large, and although a little old, it is still well maintained. The hot spring is a highlight and worth soaking in. Although the hotel is named Toshogu, it is still some distance away from Toshogu, so you must pay special attention to this. "
