This lodge is well worth staying at. Call of the Wild Lodge is perfectly situated in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, which means you get warthogs, kudu and giraffes wandering around the place. The owners Deon and Sue are very helpful and though Deon comes over as a bit quiet/gruff it turns out that he is a wealth of knowledge and has some great advice on things like car hire and restaurants. The lodge is small and intimate, yet having private entrances to the rooms means one can come and go as one pleases without noticing others. Breakfast – which is included – is excellent, the rooms are very nice and the beds comfortable. The Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is close to the centre of town and a 3 minute drive to the shopping area (which Deon is pretty happy to drop you and to kindly collect you from...till you hire a car, which if you are there for a few days I'd recommend you get !)

Wow what an idyllic place. Call of the Wild Lodge was perfect from start to finish. Deon & Sue were the most welcoming and friendly hosts who went out of their way to make our stay special. The rooms were fantastic - large and very comfortable bed, amazing outdoor shower and very spacious. The estate grounds are amazing. Having breakfast looking out to seeing warthogs, impala, kudus etc. and then morning bush walks where we bumped into giraffes and other animals. Plus the breakfast itself was outstanding too. The local area and community is also brilliant. Overall a 10/10 stay and cannot fault a thing - highly recommend!

… our stay was absolutely fantastic and extra ordinary. There is a feeling of freedom in such a wonderful location and peace of earth. The owners are so friendly people who welcomed us so lovely. Our kids fell in love with the three little dogs as they excited them much more than the wildlife. The proximity to the wildlife is special and unique. We absolutely recommend to stay there when you traveling to Hoedspruit. Thanks so much, Sue and Deon, that you made it so wonderful for us. We felt much more than comfortable and welcoming.

We stayed one night at CotW between Krüger park lodges. It was a very nice place to stay. We got a recently finished family unit, consisting of two decent-sized rooms with large double beds and a large bathroom with both shower and bath, all very nice, cozy, modern and clean. We had a small private terraces and access to the pool. Just outside the garden, one could see warthog, kudu, Nyala and even a giraffe (and one can also walk in the enclosed wild life area). The staff serving breakfast was very kind (as was the owner), and the breakfast was good. We can definitely recommend Call of the Wild.

Found this place online a little late in the night, called to make a booking and Sue was so accommodating, she arranged a late check in and stayed available on the phone till around midnight as our drive took longer than expected from Johannesburg. Breakfast by the pool was absolutely amazing, the animals came by the fenced area and we got to watch them while having breakfast. Conversation with Sue was so cool, a sweet and gentle soul, i could not believe how perfect it all came together. Room was great, place is spotless and peaceful. Wow wow! Can't wait to do it all again.

We recently stayed at Call of the Wild B & B, located in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. On arrival we were made most welcome by Sue and her Husband. We were allocated the family room which consisted of two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a very generous shared bathroom and an outside sitting area where one was able to enjoy a morning coffee whilst the sun rose. The main lodge was most comfortable and again tastefully decorated. A large front verandah gave one the opportunity to watch the animals, we were fortunate to see Kudu, Nyala, Impala, several warthog families, guinea fowl and a large selection of other birds. The hospitality was warming and sincere, we will certainly stay at The Call Of The Wild again.

I would highly recommend Call of the Wild. You do need to get the entry and exit code from the owners but communication was fine. We had very nice conversations with the hosts and a lovely breakfast by the pool. We were able to do 2 short game drives on the estate which we loved. We saw giraffes, zebras , kudus, a warthog and more in about a half hour drive. We had just left Kruger and this eased us into leaving the park and flying out of Hoedspruit. Staying on the estate is close to the town and to to airport. It is such an interesting concept to see homes surrounded by a game park. I hope to return to South Africa and would stay here here again.
