"The property is very convenient for National Trust visits, and onsite parking behind the premises is very convenient. Check in until 10pm is handy too as we arrived at 21:59 due to traffic conditions. I already knew that if we were in the attic that our room would likely be sub-par. We were, and it was. The attic landing is musty, doors and ceilings very low, very much feeling like servants quarters. the hotel management are making an effort with redecoration, but this cannot hide the fact that fixtures and fittings need replacing too. Water pressure is so low in the attic that showering is impossible, so set the bath running ahead of time if you want to be clean. My booking showed a photo of a four-poster bed - nope, a double pushed up against the wall for no apparent reason is what we had in a room big enough to be laid out better. We paid under £45 on this occasion, and at that price would stay again. The Italian Restaurant on the ground floor serves breakfast nice and early.
