Hotel U14, Autograph Collection

Mixed bag really. Pros: - beds comfy - gym available - sauna - breakfast is incredible for such a small hotel. The bread was outstanding and the many options are just crazy. Cons: - no real Bonvoy recognition. No upgrade despite space in the hotel - no water in the room - no welcome letter or fruits etc as down in other hotels - a/c did not work. Was too hot in the room. Complained and nothing happened. Also no sorry etc - there is a 30cm gap at the bottom of the sauna door. Resulting it being not hot enough. - sauna too small - breakfast is amazing but this is the only hotel I know that cherished extra for omelettes. Don’t get me wrong you won’t need an omelette as you have enough to choose from but it is strange to ask extra. Overall an average hotel which I would not recommend as a Bonvoy status guest

Chosen for its size and location, the U14 was perfect. A boutique style hotel, with lots of individual features, very helpful and knowledgeable staff makes it a great base for your trip to Helsinki. A typical wide ranging tasty buffet breakfast to start the day and a nice selection of cocktails and dinner to end the day.

Located just a few blocks from the main esplanade, this boutique hotel offers a quiet location near most of the top sights for tourists. Walking is mostly flat and navigating around is easy. Reception staff are friendly! Rooms are a nice size, with good beds and linens. Wi-Fi is fast, and the tub/shower combo wet room in the bath works well without fussy knobs. Daily housekeeping if you want it. For Titanium elite members, you can choose the breakfast buffet as your option instead of points since there’s no concierge lounge here. Great choice with some regional dishes, such as the rice porridge rye pastry. You need to try them! Staff here are friendly, too. For shopping, check out Taito on the corner two blocks away as you reach the esplanade. They have curated a nice selection of upscale handmade woolens, household goods, pottery, jewelry and clothing. Finnish designer Tuula Rossi has her gorgeous luxury outerwear here-worth a visit if you like supporting local artists. Marimekko, Karl Fazer chocolates and other great shops are right off the Esplanade as well. Be sure to enjoy the sculptures as you stroll! The small old market food hall nearby is clean with mostly stalls selling food, but the harbor’s Kauppatori market tents also have food vendors and both local crafts and knick-knack booths. Lovely, friendly Helsinki boutique hotel that majors on feel good. Smart, spotlessly clean and ideally located within walking distance of the centre of town and staffed by really engaging and likeable people. The old market hall is a five minute walk away and well worth a visit for some great coffee and delicious food.

We had an amazing stay in Helsinki at the Hotel U14. The location was great, super walkable to tourist sights but just far enough so wasn't in the thick of everything. Our room was incredibly comfortable and the bed was one of the best I've slept in anywhere in the world. We were upgraded to a corner room with a king bed and it was so quiet and spacious. Absolutely would recommend and stay here again

I supremely enjoyed this hotel. It was a great combination of comfortable (good beds, temperature, cleanliness, and quietness), sophisticated, and different. The small details (such as the hippo motif on the shower which I came to realize were Moomins and the mesmerizing clock in the lobby) really made for a nice experience and I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was also good in that it has a good selection and was quick and easy, the room service was very fast and tasty, and all the employees were nice and helpful.

It’s not a nice place to stay… I regretted to have booked for 4nights for my holiday in Helsinki Too much focus on the superficial ‘design’ but neglected the true service, functionality and practicality Hotel stuff don’t seem wanting to be there —- there’s No Service and No Smile at all through out the whole establishment The room curtain doesn’t close properly on the edge, with the Bright Neon Light shining through the window Small breakfast with guests queuing for self-serviced buffet. And the breakfast finishes at 10am! In summary, a cold and unwelcoming place - no value for money and not real luxury at all PS I’m a frequent world traveller from London and an elite member of Marriott and many other hotel chains

We Wanted to like it … but my spouse and I ended up sleeping on the bathroom floor because hotel room itself was horribly dusty and musty smelling … seems like they did a great job renovating their bathrooms though. there was no option for us to move to another room or hotel even after asking reception. This whole trip was unbearable. The carpet in the room was dirty and the whole room just made our throat scratchy and eyes itch no amount of Benadryl helped and there was no wheee for us to go in the middle of the evening that the bathroom became our best option. Disgusting but I guess we’ll go back w a good story and a we’re never staying in an autograph hotel. Heartbreaking to know we spent so much money too.
