Kailani Suite at Hana Kai Resort

If a generous friend gave you the keys to their beach condo for the weekend and Hana Kai was the result, you would be thrilled with what you found. Yes, the complex is a bit noisy. Yes, things are worn. And yes, there is some deferred maintenance. But there is a LOT to love about Hana Kai. The location, the breezes, the sunrises .... Since few of us have said friend and instead we are paying 500+ per night rental fee, the rating loses a star and I understand why some may even deduct two. Admittedly, there are not a lot of options in Hana so how much all the nuisance items bother you is kind of personal. If you choose Hana Kai, do have your expectations more at the level of a well-worn friend's condo in a glorious location.

Hana Kai is a decent, comfortable but unexceptional motel-lodge at the end of a very long journey along winding roads. Nothing wrong with the place, but also nothing terribly notable or distinguished about it. Three stars equals average. Though the prices are well above the usual three-star rate.

The facility and the grounds are breathtaking. The view is absolutely gorgeous of a black sand and pebble Beach so you can knock that must see site off your list just by staying at the hotel. The room was large and comfortable with a full kitchen and a very large balcony Looking over the ocean. Also a small patio in front that we did not go to. We hung out mostly on the back balcony enjoying that gorgeous view. The hotel has very individualized rooms so one is not like the other which you can see if you search for available rooms on the website. Our room was 101 and I would have to say that it was tastefully worn. Not exactly in tiptop shape, but probably not a lot different than your house. The mattress on this particular trip was not the most comfortable kind of lumpy and sinking in the middle, but that’s the only bad thing we can say about the place. I definitely would recommend staying here, and making sure to stay the night in Hana and not just try to drive here do everything and drive back to the other side of the island that’s way too much and you’re not going to enjoy it. You will read on the website that there is not air conditioning, that is true, and you don’t need it.

Spent two memorable nights here... Retro/vintage...a welcome step back in time... Recommend Unit #201.End unit on second floor with spectacular views( especially sunrise and sunset.) Convenient location,quiet and scenic manicured garden complete with waterfalls and Koi ponds... Making memories...

Beautiful views! beautiful condo ! Absolutely beautiful condo! pictures seriously do no justice ! Everything u need for a great stay in Hana and more ! Enjoyed that view everyday and the super close proximity to just walk down to Hana bay beach ! Would for sure stay again if ever In hana !

10/10 location for couples. Our stay was fantastic. We loved everything about the place. Beautiful decor, well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, and gorgeous view. We would love to stay here again.
