Lake Ashi
We stayed at the Hakone Hotel as part of a tour group. We had a spacious twin room with a view over the garden and part of Lake Ashi. The room spotlessly clean and was very comfortable. We had a comfortable chair and a comfortable 2 seater couch as well as comfortable beds. In the morning we had a beautiful clear view of Mt Fuji from the grounds of the hotel. We had a delicious included dinner at the hotel as well as a good buffet breakfast. There was a capsule coffee/tea maker in the room that I tried with Earl Grey Tea which was a bit strong for my taste.

This hotel is a historic property set in an iconic setting. We stayed in the Forest Section which features large, comfortable rooms that were a little dark, the bathroom lighting could be improved. Here is my issue. We arrived around 1:15 and we’re told that we could check in at 3:00. We had lunch in their cafe ( 50$) and asked again about an hour later if we could have early access. The very polite desk clerk replied “ Yes, for $70 dollars “. Astounded , I countered that we were departing early 2 days later, and he reduced the amount to $35. Now here is where communication becomes an issue: I continued the “are you kidding me?” and he kept bowing. I thought the issue was settled. That night and the next we ate at their lovely restaurants, French and the Cascade. Food and service was superb. With wine we spent about $900. Check out was early, and my husband didn’t really examine the bill. When we were back in our free early access room in Tokyo I noticed the $35 charge. I contacted the hotel’s customer service and they confirmed the charge. So, what about customer hospitality? I have NEVER been charged an early access fee for an hour. They have been times when we patiently waited for a room to be readied, and never demanded a rebate. It is all part of the guest/host agreement, I think this is probably a corporate decision by the Fujiya Group. Rethink your mission, guys, make guests feel wanted!

The word of mouth of the famous travel site was good, the point of the site was stored, and it was sold at the sale price, so I decided here without much investigation. In a word, it is an inn operated by foreigners. The administrator is Japanese, but I only saw foreigners, so I thought the operation was a foreigner. Cleaning rooms and baths, replenishment of room fixtures, etc.々, I felt that I didn't reach the level that Japanese people expected. The location is not the Kora station, which can be said to be a relay point, and 2 station is the nearest station from there, but about 5 − 10 minutes walk from the station. It is close enough to walk. However, in front of the inn, there are many steep slopes, and there are many stairs in the inn, and it is better to avoid those who are weak in foot and waist. The meal is not luxurious. Because it was a stay at a sale price, there is no dissatisfaction with the meal that matches the price. It was good to be able to choose the breakfast time at 8:30 or 8:30. In the morning and evening, it was a private room on the main building 2 floor. The digging type, the air conditioner is incorporated into the wall instead of the ceiling, and the height is the waist position, so the person sitting in the back is hit by the cold wind on the waist. Cold or pregnant women should bring scrolls so that they do not cool their waist. The bath used the main building both the night of the arrival and the morning of the departure day (because it was troublesome to leave the building and cross the road once I thought that the annex Sakura Tei would like to use it). I never met a person. After all, is there a lot of people using the annex? I was reading a bad comment about the bathtub, so I just took a shower and didn't catch the bathtub. Surely the hot water was not overflowing from the bathtub. There are towels 2 types, yukata, toothbrush, razor, and com in the room. It was written that it would cost if you wanted to add it. This is the first time I have stayed in this place, is this the present age? There are washbasins, dryers, hand wash, mini refrigerator, hot water drinks and cups in the room. I asked for replenishment because the coffee and tea pack were replenished and forgotten. The vending machine water is 230 yen, and canned beer 350ml is 350 yen.

We are part of TOTO Japan Indonesia tour and had a late night check-in from Narita. Upon arrival we are greeted and helped by the front staff with all Japanese hospitality. Our room are located on the first floor which is the same level as the onsen. All of the rooms are a bit distant away from the main lobby, therefore you'll need a bit of walking in between areas. Our room are Ryoken style with tatami floor mattresses which is quite comfortable. In room heating are quite warm however the bathroom and showers are not, no heating so during winter will be quite chilly. Wifi internet is quite bad, very slow and drops alot. Our room have an astonishing views towards the lake and mountains, and surrounded by golf course to the side of the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are all served with Japanese style breakfast, very yummy and free coffee too. Dining staff are very well mannered and diligently taught our daughter the tastiest way to eat some of the traditional meal. We stayed for 2 nights and so We begin our Japan tour in the best way a Japanese accomodation & hospitality can offer. Thank you & definitely recommended accomodation...

It really feels like living in my own home. The grandparents at the hotel are very kind. Although the communication is a bit difficult, the room has a small living room and bedroom. The space is quite large. Breakfast and dinner are also amazing. The location is also very close to the bus station. In short, the C P value is very high.

I am a Japanese. I really enjoyed the stay. I like non-expensive Onsen so We stayed at Annex room. No private onsen in the room but large enough and clean(a bit old but well remodelled). If you pay more you can stay in a Private Onsen room but it costs more of course. DInner is Japanese style with good volume and taste. really good Shabushabu we had. It may be tough for people who cannot eat true Japanese food. There are options without dinner but I am not sure there are restaurants available near by. Breakfast is buffet. Mostly Japanese but bread, eggs and some western stuff available. Tamagoyaki(Japanese style baked egg) is really great. Fruits and Japanese sweet are also awesome. Onsen water quality is not great(no Onsen/sulfur smell). But rooms are clean and large. Clean cloth box with a key. Outside Onsen is available. Good shower hot water volume. Shiseido face lotion is also avaiable which is amazing. 3PM check in and 11 AM check out is great. Location is between Hakone-Yumoto and Lake-Ashi. not a city center. we went with a car but there is a 100 JPY bus service from Hakone-Yumoto. Or 1000JPY taxi. Great hospitality and service. I am not sure they can speak English but at least they will try I am sure.
