The hotel is located close to the mountain. If you have a lot of luggage, it is best to drive here. The parking fee is 15CHF, which is a bit expensive. The surrounding scenery is good. It is close to the snow-capped mountains. The room facilities are simple but clean.

This is an accommodation that made me cry and laugh during my trip to Switzerland :) First of all, if you look at the facilities, it is clean and nice since it was recently opened. There was an elevator and a kitchen available, but there were almost no dishes or appliances. There was no problem with cooking at all. The location is a very far walk from Grindelwald Station, or a short bus ride away. 🌟Throw away the idea of walking with your luggage on the first day.🌟 This is a vertical hike that you can never climb without carrying your luggage. Be sure to check the bus schedule before taking the bus (it's convenient to use the SBB app). Your accommodation will give you a Grindelwald guest card, so you can ride the bus for free. (I had a Jungfrau VIP coupon, so I didn’t use it.) The reasons I cried were: 1) As soon as I arrived, there was no one, so I called and waited for about an hour, but no one answered and didn't come. There were people staying, so I had to wait in the lobby. I had another number on my laptop, so I called, but no one answered. 2) While I was waiting, a man called and asked why I was calling. When I told him I wanted to check in, he said I was fully booked for today, so what did I mean? I told him my reservation number and he said he would understand. Later, he came running in from outside and asked for my passport. Didn't say a single word of apology. (I was very angry here.) Anyway, in conclusion, he said that there was a reservation history on Trip.com but not in his system, so he had me check it and said he would do something about it since there were no rooms available. However, his attitude was not that he was sorry and was trying to do something, but rather that he was annoyed with me. 3) In the end, they gave us our room keys condescendingly, as if they had made it very difficult for us to get a room, and we were very upset that they were sorry for waiting for an hour and that there was no compensation, but we wanted to rest in the room quickly, so we brought the keys up. However, as shown in the picture, they gave me a room without a terrace... Obviously, the room I paid for had a terrace on the reservation screen, and I made the reservation with that in mind, so when I went to argue with them, they said that the room I had reserved was that room. (I was told that it was given to me because I had created a room, but when I went down and inquired, I found out that the room was originally assigned...) 4) Then, while showing a picture of the reservation screen on '***********', he enthusiastically emphasizes that the room may or may not have a terrace. The problem is that I paid through 'Trip.com' and the room type I booked on Trip.com is not available. All photos showed a terrace. When I said that, he got very angry and told me to cancel it for free and to leave if I didn't like it. To be honest, these words sounded very threatening to me, and I was so intimidated by the man's attitude that I was afraid that he might do something to me. I sometimes wonder if they are speaking in such a threatening manner because I am a woman and Asian. [I notified Booking.com's customer service center of my move, and now the reservation screen for the room I selected also includes a photo of a room without a terrace.] Anyway, for this reason, I started my trip to Switzerland very angry and depressed. ㅠ ㅠ This room does not have a terrace and has a tree view, as someone left in a Google review... lol Next time I go again, I think I'll just choose the room one level up because I'm worried about getting this room. Also, the toilet and bathroom were attached together, so it was shared by 3 rooms. Please note.

This is a lovely hotel in Grindelwald. The rooms are beautifully appointed. We had a stunning view of the Eiger. Staff super friendly and even provided us with socket adaptors so we use our phone chargers etc. There is a well appointed kitchen you can use and a sitting room. Yes the hotel is quite a climb from the town but didn’t detract from a wonderful stay.

On December 28th, I made a reservation at this hotel for a highly anticipated New Year's holiday. After a lengthy train ride, we arrived in town after 7 PM and struggled to find a taxi service. We attempted to walk to the lodge with four pieces of luggage, which proved impossible. ( Don’t attempt to walk up especially past 6pm, even if Google maps says so. Uber not available!) Eventually, we called for assistance and were provided with a number to contact Frutty Taxi, which charged 30 CHF for a 5-10 minute ride. We finally checked in around 9 PM, feeling tired and exhausted, only to encounter an unfriendly male concierge. As first-time visitors, our unmet expectations—no on-site restaurant or available food, with the nearest option a 15-minute downhill walk—negatively impacted us. The concierge's behavior, raising his voice and making threats when I mentioned regretting not reading reviews beforehand, further exacerbated the situation. Is this the standard treatment for international guests? This experience completely soured our mood, leaving my family deeply upset. It's disheartening that this occurred during such a special time of the year.😢😢😢 Hospitality is paramount as it shapes guests' experiences, influencing their satisfaction, comfort, and likelihood to return. It's a cornerstone for building a positive reputation and fostering guest loyalty.

Never never follow google map and walk to the lodge. The slopes get steeper as you go up and it’s extremely dangerous with a luggage. Check bus schedules as the last bus departs early from grindelwald station before 7pm, even less frequent during colder months. Or call Uber. Just don’t risk your life by walking. The lodge itself is pretty and has a nice view. Love the free spring water from the water fountain just outside. Kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. Service is prompt and good. Room and bed are small. What we didn’t like was the summer/early autumn flies that flew into our room - huge and bothering! There’s no net to keep them out. We were there during a warm autumn week but had to close the windows. Thankfully the staff provided a fan. One bathroom for several bedrooms - if fully occupied I think there may be a long queue. During our stay it was still fine.

If you want a quiet and really easy hotel, surrounded by woods and with a priceless view of the Eiger, this is the right place. If you want to stay in the most special room, room 33, you have to book (and here's the rhyme because it fits...). The new renovation by a skilled architect makes this hotel truly modern and comfortable. The guys who run it are crazy: super smiley and helpful. No, but I ask you now: what more do you want? It is unconventional, clean, essential, but equipped. An amazing common room for long evenings, or the garden for having a picnic or sunbathing, the breakfast area (which is always well stocked and fresh), no confusion, few rooms, but all well-kept and welcoming. Come on, go!! You won't regret it (I end with yet another rhyme..)

This was great lovely views but very steep at top ! So walking down and up difficult although at hotel given free bus ticket for duration of stay - 10 to 15 mins steep climb to the hotel and down if you walk to grindewald but recommend beautiful quiet good staff and cozy alpine feel

We stayed at this lodge for 3 nights and we used the lodge as a base for our daily hiking. We booked (by mistake) a room with shared bathroom. It was a lovely room and the shared bathroom was kept clean, so no issues there. And the lodge manager kindly upgraded us on our last night to a beautiful room (with ensuit bathroom) that made our last day even more enjoyable. The lodge has been recently refurbished, typical mountain style, and the view from the room and the balcony is incredible. Yes, there are only basic amenities (no kettle, coffee machine) but it is a lodge and the price is right for what it offers. We would definitely go back if in Grindewald again. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a hike of about 10 - 15 min to reach the lodge and is quite steep, so something to consider. For us, it was fine as we did have backpacks.

Pros: Except the views from the hotel, nothing was great Cons: Hospitality was at it its worse, there were no essentials in the room like Kettle or Refrigerator or TV. Bathroom floor is not properly designed, water will be spread all over the place without a door for bath area. It takes a lot of effort to reach to the hotel from Station without a car.
