Great hospitality - Staff are friendly and helpful. Very warm experience
Onsen & room - Clean and decent with Japanese design (Apply to the one inside the room & public onsen)
Lobby - Filled with the western classic design
For sure, we will return for 3rd times visit to Sasara.

Our family have a great time staying in Sasara, the staffs are nice and easy to communicate. They serve traditional Japanese style meals, dinner and breakfast were amazing in terms of presentation, taste and feel. Definitely will come back for next trip

Stayed there for two nights.
In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20).
I honestly cannot recommend this hotel. Sorry, but no.

Very nice staff. 5 minutes walk to the highlight spot, shops and restaurants. You can call taxi from JR station to the hotel (free of charge). After check out, hotel can call taxi for drop off at the station also.

The hotel is settled in the middle of Gero Hot Spring town, short walk from the train station and can also be reached via bus from Kamikochi area.
The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. You can feel the spirit of older times in this hotel with a lot of beautifully selected decoration pieces.
The manager showed us around and even offered us a new room since I accidentally booked one without shower (we declined that offer since we only wanted to stay for one night). That’s why we used the Onsen area for showering which is beautiful and includes all amenities. View above Gero and including an outside Onsen area to watch the sunrise.
The staff was very friendly, the manager even drove us to the bus station since we forgot our jackets in the bus. The bar is well-equipped and a great place for a drink or two.
One of the best parts was the breakfast. Never had such a good Japanese breakfast before- delicious, served in a private room, beautifully arranged. Next time we want to try their dinner :-)
We felt like family and I can recommend anyone going to Gero to stay at this great hotel! Thanks again for your hospitality!

Location: At the main store in Gero, it only takes about 5 minutes to walk. You can also go to the hotel without taking a taxi from the train station. The hotel will cover the taxi fare, which is very considerate. When I left the hotel, they took the initiative to call a taxi for me. 10 points for praise
Facilities: The bathroom is very comfortable, the bed is also very comfortable, everything makes me feel 10 points comfortable, highly recommended

The hotel is a little far from Gero JR Station, about 15 minutes walk. There was a service staff at the door with a list to greet us. The hotel is retro in style. We were assigned an English-speaking butler. We ordered dinner and breakfast, and there are several time slots to choose from. All meals are served in the room. There are many dishes with their own characteristics. The Hida beef Xiabu for dinner is well received and the overall portion is sufficient. The butler is responsible for serving and introducing the dishes, and someone is responsible for making the bed after the meal. There is a large bathroom on the roof and an open-air hot spring in the old building downstairs. The latter allows the whole family to bathe for half an hour at their own time. The area is not large, and it can barely squeeze in 2 adults and 1 child, but it is a special flavor to soak in the open-air hot spring on a snowy day. Overall, I feel satisfied.

2.1 night 3500RMB, it feels a bit expensive. But this is a hot spring hotel with an excellent experience and impeccable service. Take a taxi from JR Gero Station to the hotel, free of charge. The reception staff is warm and thoughtful, and takes good care of every detail of the hotel and the room, which makes people feel very considerate. They don't even charge tips, which is very polite.
Accommodation includes one night and two meals, the dishes are rich and varied, and the taste is amazing. Especially dinner, it can be called a feast for taste buds, but breakfast is slightly ordinary in comparison.
The room I stayed in has its own private soup, and you can also watch the gorgeous fireworks festival. It is so comfortable that I didn't go to the open-air bath on the eighth floor of the hotel. The hotel also thoughtfully prepared welcome snacks, exquisite kimonos, and coffee in the lobby bar is also free, showing quality and care everywhere. Everything here makes me very satisfied, and the price of drinks is also very affordable. The only small drawback is that you have to eat breakfast at 8 o'clock and check out at 10:30, so you can't sleep in, otherwise it really can be called full marks💯

The room is better than expected. The terrace has a private bath and shower facilities.
The private bath is large enough to accommodate two people.
Because the hotelis located in a high position, the privacy is also very high
There is also a convenience store nearby, very convenient
The waiter who is responsible for introducing the food and taking you to your room is the same person
Can speak fluent English, also help with luggage, and very polite
Very good service attitude
We took a taxi directly to the hotel that day. I didn't expect that the hotel would cover the cost. The same thing happened on the day of departure. The front desk also helped to call a taxi.
The overall stay was good

There is an uphill climb from the hot spring town to Sasara, but there is a convenience store nearby so it wasn't inconvenient. The inn's consideration and high level of hospitality allowed me to enjoy a relaxed hot spring trip. The food was tasty and the explanations of the dishes were thorough and enjoyable. I would like to use it again.

I was thinking about where to stay in the Gero Takayama area, and I chose Sasara because I like hot springs. I only stayed for one night, but it was the best travel destination + accommodation during my trip to Nagoya. All the staff at Sasara were kind and greeted me with a smile, so I felt very good. It was a room that included dinner/breakfast, and the meal was really delicious. I ate 1 and 1/2 bowls of rice. The hot spring in the room had a slight sulfur smell, but it was really hot and all my fatigue went away. There are many vending machines in the ryokan, but it was nice that Family Mart was only a 2-3 minute walk away. It seems like you can walk from Gero Station in about 15 minutes, but the taxi fare from the station<-> the inn is free. You can walk everywhere, and since I didn't know much about it, I took a taxi to Gassho Village, but it was enough to walk. It was really good. If I had to pick a disadvantage, in the case of the open-air bath room, the shower was semi-outdoor like the hot spring bath, so it was a bit cold when washing up, and the Wi-Fi connection didn't work well. Also, when moving from the annex to the main building, you had to climb stairs once. You have to go up and down, but there is an escalator going up, but not going down, so it's difficult if you have heavy luggage. But I'd like to stay here again next time I go to Nagoya.
