We booked two rooms through American Express over a week in advance, and AmEx had confirmed booking from the hotel. Upon arrival, we were told our stay had been cancelled—no call, no email, nothing—and the charge still appeared on our card. American Express was never notified of any cancellation either. Staff shrugged and said there were no rooms left. We were stranded with two babies and a pregnant woman and missed kickoff for the game we traveled for. Now dealing with a dispute. Extremely disappointing experience.

We had the most wonderful trip to Gainesville because of the Doubletree by Hilton! The staff was incredibly kind to Our Family. It was our daughter’s birthday (and attend the UF homecoming game) and they gave us great recommendations, and even took the time to decorate a beautiful chalkboard scene to commemorate her special day. The rooms were very clean and the location could not have been any better! We will return!

I book a room with ******* for a work event. Immediately after, I received a confirmation with the wrong dates. It was for the following date. I called Double Tree and was told I needed to contact ******* to make any changes. When I called *******, I was told they didn’t have any rooms available for the date I needed. They were going to request a cancellation with Double Tree on my behalf. I then booked at another hotel. Today I received an email from ******* that Double Tree will not cancel my booking and issue a refund because my booking is non refundable. When I called Double Tree, I was agin told that they couldn’t help me. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they wouldn’t be in until later today and I could call back but again they wouldn’t be able to help me. There is always a way to say yes and make a customer happy. In this case Double Tree didn’t do that and they have lost a loyal customer for life.

The room wasn’t clean to DoubleTree standards. The shower floor and walls were the dirtiest I have seen in any hotel. When asked to switch rooms I was told that all of the showers looked that way because it’s an old hotel and that the hotel was sold out. With limited options in the area, I slept at the hotel using my own blanket and a scarf to cover the pillow. I was uncomfortable using the shower in the condition that it was in, so I resorted to cleaning up using the sink. This was by far the worst hotel experience that I’ve ever had.

Loved this stay! Beautiful decor and the staff were so sweet and welcoming! Sierra was amazing and gave great recommendations for places to eat and enjoy my evening! I ended up on a date because of her! 😍 A girl needed it!

I must commend the GM for quickly acknowledging my constructive feedback and refunding my stay, which was the very least to do. I thought maybe additional consideration such as a free night in their system or Hilton points as a gesture of goodwill could have been appropriate. Well done though owning the issues and promising to do better. This was likely the most filthy hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. My room was filthy and grimy with mold on the ceiling, and holes in the towels. This place has major housekeeping and supervision issues. I expected better from a Doubletree so close to the University of Florida.
