The Harraseeket Inn & Event House

We loved our stay here. The staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and offers a lot of character as well as charm. Food was amazing. This is a must for anyone traveling to Freeport, Maine.

If you're looking for a charming Inn with an ambience of the local culture, this is a wonderful choice. The hospitality is fantastic. from arriving late (1:00 am) due to a flight delay, to calling in during a busy time, the staff have been friendly, kind and helpful. This is a destination in itself with beautiful grounds and offerings like high tea and evening smores! We are extremely happy to have chosen a memorable experience over a basic blah and forgettable cookie cutter chain hotel.

My wife and I just stayed at the Inn last Wednesday to Saturday. I wanted to take a moment to pass along to you what a great experience we had. I am in a powered wheelchair and thus requested a handicap room. On check in, we were met at the front desk by the clerk who promptly asked if we would like to upgrade to their King Handicap Suite….this was just what we needed as the king works much better for me. As we explored our room and the Inn, we found to it be so handicap friendly from the spacious bathroom with roll-in shower, comfort height toilet to the multiple ramps throughout and unfettered access to anywhere I wanted to roll to (including the fire pit). This just made our stay so much more enjoyable. The dining room was easily accessible and the staff went out of their way to accommodate my chair for meals. In an era where so many times all you hear are complaints, I want you to know that our experience couldn’t have been any better from the front desk staff to the Dining room staff, we were always met with a “hello”, a smile and all seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help. We look forward to our return in 2026 to room 204 and would hope that you pass along our sincere thanks to all your staff for making our mini visit so enjoyable.

We did not stay at the Inn, but this seems the only way to record reactions to the Thanksgiving dinner we had there yesterday. It was a mixed experience. On the one hand, this was among the best food for this holiday in my experience. Offerings were ample and everything was exceptionally good. However, for a very expensive dining experience, there was a lot missing. It felt like the major social event at a conference. There was a long walk to the ballroom in which the meal occurred, and some waiting in line besides a pretty dingy looking swimming pool. There may have been a couple of hundred diners in the room. While the buffet was ample in terms of the number of dishes, there were empty dishes for some of the starters and some of the pies when we sought these items. The bar offerings were very poor. Only five spirts on offer for cocktails, and Hendricks gin is a really poor choice for a martini for most people. Service was very disappointing. The tables were very small, and to move on to the next course there was a significant wait before someone cleared your plate. Getting coffee at the end of dinner took quite a while. Note that when you book, the price this year was $98/person. However, you will also face a mandatory 20% service charge based on "large group experience, which was both inappropriate for for such an inattentive experience) and there were only two of us. The result is a price 50% more than what was advertised. My suggestion is to eliminate the half lobsters and come up with a more reasonable price. This meal (which took us about an hour) was not worth the cost of a fine dining experience.

Was shocked to be told the Tavern was closed! Dined in house and just not the same, breakfast was ok. The new menu does not come close to what we were returning for. We had great memories in the tavern. Now it’s used for private events…
