Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Fort William houses are difficult to book in August. The house I saw online said it was a superior cabin. I really didn't understand the point of the room. When I went there, I realized that it looked like a high-end prefabricated house. About twelve square meters. It’s not like Fifteen square meters as described by Ctrip. As soon as I entered the house, it smelled like sweat. The house was very cold because it was on an open field. There is a heating system, but it heats up very slowly. I heated it until eleven o'clock and it was only twenty degrees. The bathroom was about one level and I couldn't take a shower in it. I slept all night with my clothes on. The key point is that a house like this costs more than 2,200 a night at this time. We booked two rooms for two nights. After sleeping all night, I decided not to stay any longer. The boss doesn't check out. Ctrip thought I was a high-quality customer and refunded 500 yuan to me. I just think it's a big hole. Breakfast in the morning is a la carte with a small amount of buffet. Not tasty. It feels like you made your own sausage. Unpalatable.

The hotel is not clean, the room had dead bugs, thick dust and dirty tissues from previous guests. Shower had thick grime on the edge of the screen and everywhere had an unpleasant odour. Worst hotel stay ever. A loud noise kept us awake which we were told was either the air conditioning or a faulty fridge. The manager told us to write in when we complained and after several attempts were offered a discount on a return stay. Feel ripped off and ruined our time in the beautiful highlands.

The photos are misleading and possibly taken some years ago. You can't really see the loch as it is obscured by a lot of large trees and shrubs and the noise from the traffic on the bridge is loud and continuous. However, there is an excellent view of the mountains in the distance and our stay was pleasant, but overpriced.

To be clear, we did not stay during June 2025 - we had reservations for September 2025. This review is about the extremely poor handling of a cancellation. Background is when the reservation was originally made in April 2025, it was inadvertently made for the default setting (that night) and not for September 2025. We almost immediately noticed the error and tried to call but the front desk had apparently left for the day. We immediately sent an email explaining it and called the next day. The conversation the next day was cordial and the hotel allowed us to move the reservation to September and applied our payment for that timeframe. I specifically asked if the reservation could be cancelled in the future and a refund issued. I was told YES! The email confirmation for the September dates states "For our flexible 7 day cancellation policy, prepayment will be processed within 7 days prior to your arrival.Cancellations or date changes can be made up until 7 days prior to the date of arrival. Late cancellations would be charged in full." As it often happens, family items come up and plans change. When we had to cancel this reservation (yesterday), just short of three months in advance, we were told that no refund would be issued. When I called today and spoke with the duty manager (Stephen I believe) he was adamant that no refund would be issued as they had already made amends by allowing us to rebook into September with the original error. When I told him that I had specifically asked about a refund and was told it would be issued if changes were made as well as stating that the email confirmation said a 7 day cancellation policy, he stated "I know what our policy is" and that no refund would be issued. Bottom line - my error in the original mistake. Their error for stating a refund would be issued should plans change and then not honoring their stated policy in the confirmation email. Not good customer relations if you ask me - as they will certainly book the room we just cancelled. BUYER BEWARE

I don't like leaving negative reviews as I take the view that everyone is trying to earn a living and don't want to critisise! However........... We stayed at the Loch Leven Hotel for one night and the only thing that saved the hotel was the chef and waiting staff and standard of the food. First appearance was not great as there were two big bins prominent in the car park. We walked up to the reception area and there were mismatched plant pots with dead plants which gave the place an unkempt appearance. The gentleman who signed us in was polite and welcoming and spoke excellent English saying he lived originally in Italy but preferred Scotland?! The communal areas were ok and looked comfortable but when we were shown our room it was like going back 20 years - the room was tired and in need of updating. It was clean and the bed was comfy but not what we are used to. If we paid half the price for the room it would be the right price but we stayed in four different hotels during our Scotland trip this was the most expensive and overpriced. I hope the management will take on board my comments and could achieve some easy wins, such as improving the ambience of the outside - first appearance matters. Plough some of the money back into room upgrades to get into the 21st Century! Despite the above - special shout out to the chef and waiting staff as that was what rescued our stay - fish and chips were wonderful and breakfast good, waiting staff polite and personable.

We were happy with our 1 x night stay in this hotel, the room was big enough for our suitcases, the bed was ok, pillows were a little tough but all in all it was pleasant. Dining was a easy affair meals were okay, staff were friendly and efficient, location of the hotel is a bit out of the way but theres not much around anyways

This hotel is not ‘quirky’, it is overpriced, shabby and dirty. Some food served was passed its Best Before date. We tried to talk to staff some of whom were unhelpful, subsequent phone calls have not been answered and emails have not yet been responded to. Best avoided.

Staff were rude and unhelpful. There is an attitude problem towards guests . I paid just under £300 per room . The taps were lose and although I had shot shower in the afternoon both rooms in the evening ( the temperature was just about warm. Breakfast was ok I had porridge which was nice but when I asked for a spoon I was asked to go and get it where the cereals are. So not impressed.
