"This is a unique experience. Built in 1922, this historic inn has hosted three U.S. presidents and many actors, sports stars, and politicians. Their pictures are on the walls. The original opening of this inn corresponds with the completion of the highway which allowed access to this redwood studded part of California. There are three old time telephone booths in the huge lobby and many displays of days gone by. Completely renovated, the bed is comfortable, the television large, and breakfast free, even if your booking says that you must pay extra. TIP: If you come in winter, set your room temperature to 75 degrees (70 degrees does not really reach 70 degrees)."

"The facilities are relatively old. It's OK to rest for one night on the way. After all, the surrounding areas are like this and there are not many options. Fortunately, it is quiet, clean and comfortable. You can't expect more. The hotel seems to have a hot spring swimming pool. I didn't experience it if I stayed for one night on the way. The breakfast is just okay for Chinese taste. Fortunately, there are many supermarkets and restaurants around"

CAUTION! For those who have ambulation issues, there’s an entire flight of stairs to access the apartment.
This is a detached apartment to our 1907 Craftsman home. Located just a short (10-15 mins) walk to Old Town Eureka. We are also about a 20 minute walk to Henderson Center. We are a few blocks away from Brick and Fire, a lovely restaurant. We also have our own walking distance dive bar (Ernie's)! There is a giant shared yard, but it is still very private. There is a separate entrance to the apartment. The apartment has wraparound windows and you are able to overlord the corner and people watch. I recommend you park on C Street because 14th is quite busy.
The space
Living room has a smart TV, loveseat, and wall heater. An air conditioner is not necessary for this corner of the world. We have what I call natural AC.
There is a full kitchen with microwave, pots & pans, kitchenware, oil, spices, Brita, coffee, tea, coffee maker, and hot water kettle.
Bedroom has all essentials and mattress is medium firm. So if you prefer a soft mattress, this may not be the place for you. Iron and ironing board.
Bathroom has all amenities - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hair dryer. There is a tub in the bathroom.
Other things to note
Our dogs are barky when you come through the gate. We usually keep them in the house when new people come around. Ozzie, he’s not aggressive but will herd you. Meaning he will nudge your heel with his snout as he is a herding dog. Please let me know if you are uncomfortable with that. We try to keep him inside because his persistent barking is the most annoying part. He hates greetings. But if you are well-versed with guardy, herding dogs - he is a typical case. Our red heeler, Ruby, is too friendly and will jump on you because she is a poorly behaved dog with poorly behaved owners. She might come to your door for breakfast as she is used to having guest let her roam through the apartment. Don't feel obligated to let her in. We're good about calling her back if she's gone for too long from the house.

The small bedroom is built for sleeping. It has recessed lighting and sconces and no windows. It also has a small walk-in closet with a full length mirror.
Guests have a private entrance and access to the entire space. The wall in the bedroom closet is shared with a small hair salon on E street.
The host is available to answer questions by phone/text and lives in same city but not on site.
Henderson Center is a family oriented shopping district in Eureka. It has a delightful mix of restaurants, retail, and service businesses - boasting over 100 businesses. It has a local farmer’s market every Thursday from June through October. Bike stores, pet stores, clothing stores, hardware stores and more.
There is free available parking in front of the gate where you access the property. We also allow guests to park in a secure garage! It is easiest to get around on foot as you are literally next door to shops and restaurants. The zoo, beaches, and downtown are all a 5-10 minute drive away.
The property is accessed through a gate in the alley off Grotto street between D and E streets. It is the only residential home on a street lined with businesses. Security camera outside entry gate in alley for guest safety while entering or parking cars outside. No cameras in yard or directed at home.

Henderson Center is a family oriented shopping district in Eureka. It has a delightful mix of restaurants, retail, and service businesses - boasting over 100 businesses. It has a local farmer’s market every Thursday from June through October. Bike stores, pet stores, clothing stores, hardware stores and more.
There is free available parking in front of the gate where you access the property. We also allow guests to park in a secure garage! It is easiest to get around on foot as you are literally next door to shops and restaurants. The zoo, beaches, and downtown are all a 5-10 minute drive away.
The property is accessed through a gate in the alley off Grotto street between D and E streets. It is the only residential home on a street lined with businesses. Security camera outside entry gate in alley for guest safety while entering or parking cars outside. No cameras in yard or directed at home.

The perfect gathering place for larger groups and corporate retreats! Centrally located, this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home is tucked away on a private street at the end of a cul-de-sac. Hot tub and fire pit recently added.Spacious with a family room, living room, and game room--perfect for gatherings and entertainment. Just minutes from Sequoia Park and the skywalk, set on half an acre, with the adjacent lot overlooking a redwood gulch with a small creek. Updated appliances and lots of room for parking!
The space
The house is a 2,300+ sq. ft. home with two levels. The sleeping areas are located upstairs, with one sleeper sofa located off of the dining room on the first floor. Spacious and perfectly spread out for larger groups to unwind and enjoy their own private areas of the house. There is a an en-suite bathroom off of the primary suite as well as ample closet space. In addition, there is another large bathroom upstairs for the other rooms to use, and a large game room with queen beds meant to maximize occupancy for larger groups.
The main house is located on a mostly paved surface, with an adjacent lot next-door that overlooks a redwood gulch area. There is ample parking, and a large outdoor patio just off of the kitchen and family room to make for the perfect flow for indoor/outdoor entertaining.
The main floor also has a laundry room with washer and dryer setup, as well as a large dining area that can comfortable seat up to 10 people. A half bathroom is also available downstairs as well as a completely updated kitchen with everything you might need to cook a meal for your group.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire home, excluding the garage where we keep our supplies, etc. There is ample parking in both the driveway and the street. The backyard is private, though, not fully fenced for those bringing furry friends.
There is a 5 person hot tub on this property in perfect working order, if you are seeing this in the description, that means that the hot tub is still there, working, and being regularly maintained for your convenience.
Other things to note
*Cleaning fee is set to $145. Occasionally, there have been glitches in the past on the platform that set the price lower. Please note this and let me know if you see any discrepancies prior to booking.
*$50 pet fee is applicable per pet. If we find signs of a pet that was not listed in the reservation, we will charge you after your stay.
*pets cannot be left unattended. We would consider a kenneled dog being left unattended, but there are plenty of pet sitting options in the area to ensure your dog isn’t left alone.
*There is currently no hot tub on the property.
*Please do not use the fireplace in the living room.
*No parties or events unless previously discussed with the host.
