Louis Apostolata Island Resort ★★★★★
"This is not a 5* hotel. We arrived late so check in was really rushed. We were not given any information about the hotel in general and what's on offer. We had no idea you could get a free shuttle bus into skala or poros ( 1 hour walk + a massive hill to climb. ) we found this out on checkout day! We also were not told about the options regarding the extra restaurants which meant we were subjected to disgusting food. I will give positive feedback for the breakfast options. The staff - restaurant and bar staff were all pleasant. Front of house staff not good. The rooms/hotel. When booking it wasn't clear what types of views you could have, therefore we asked for a room with a view. An extra €140 euros! When we checked out we overheard a couple saying the had complained and got a FREE upgrade to a superior room. The rooms in its self. The toilet is situated in the shower cubicle with the telephone?!?!? Having a shower was not a pleasant experience when you have toilet smells around. On arrival we came into a room with two single beds. We therefore had to ask for a double mattress. It's a very steep hotel and not much parking. It does have a lot of ants and birds around ( we didn't mind the birds. We actually had a little nest with a bird inside which we named Frank. ) To round off we won't be coming back again to this hotel. Kefalonia is absolutely stunning and we will be back visiting this stunning island in the future."
Porto Skala Hotel Village ★★★★
"Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Great facilities, decent size rooms and very comfy beds. The best thing about this hotel though is the amazing staff……….nothing is too much trouble. I must in particular mention Evelyn and Franklin who were amazing! My main gripe unfortunately was that there is no air con in the seating areas in the dining room but would thoroughly recommend this hotel"
Melidron Hotel ★★★
"Location was great very close to the beach and about a 10 minute walk into the main area of Scala. Pool area nice with decent sun beds and parasols, pool towels provided. Room was big with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, safety deposit box in the wardrobe. We had a kettle and fridge so able to make a hot drink. Room was clean but very dated the bathroom was especially dark no ceiling light just 3 small bulbs over the sink, no window in the bathroom to let in natural light either. Breakfast a bit disappointing."
Makis Hotel ★★
"The 5 star rating is for the hotel, based on it being a 3 star hotel. The resort would receive a different rating. Less and less I like big hotels. Makis Hotel hits the right note in terms of big enough to offer all you need, but not too big as to be too busy. Our room was of standard size, overlooking the water and offered all that was necessary. Breakfast offered enough choice for the star rating. Staff were very friendly. The pool and bar area were comfortable and bar food was very enjoyable. You can hire pool towels for a 10€ cash deposit and they can be changed on alternate days. My only disappointment is the usual nonsense of people reserving sun beds before breakfast. The hotel signage advises people that it’s not allowed and that towels will be removed. Unfortunately this isn’t adhered to, as we had many people reserve the same Cabana/sunbeds every day and for extended periods, not always use them. Like many, I find this performance very annoying, but in the end the hotel advised that they didn’t want to Police it and so despite being willing to follow the rules, we had no choice but to adopt the same reservation system. I’m sure the hotel would find alternative beds should none be available, but that’s not the point. The hotel is less than 5mins. walk to the small centre of Skala. Having travelled extensively throughout Greece/the world, we found the resort underwhelming. Whilst there were enough restaurants to choose from, the menus were usually very similar. We can recommend Oinos Wine Bar, for both simple, quality food and wine (knowledge as well) selection and Mikelatos Restaurant, for great quality and well presented food. The main street is quite short, offering limited and repetitive retail options and whilst pretty enough by night, didn’t greatly excite if staying for more than a few nights. At the time of our visit, the resort appeared largely populated by Brits and a few Eastern Europeans. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, (were very happy with the hotel), though pleased we took a days car hire to find something more authentically Greece, as Skala could be anywhere!"
OLIVEMARE ★★★
"My wife & I planned to stay @ the Oliemare for a week in June of this year 2024, but unfortunately it was fully booked being only 5 rooms. We eventually got booked up at the Hotel Pacifae just up the road which has been fantastic and we definitely would stay again. While we were there, we took a stroll down to the Oliemare one night to introduce ourselves and have a look around. Unfortunately, we were met by a very VERY! rude ageing ponytailed hippy that wasn't interested in engaging with us at all, and made me and my wife feel very awkward & unwelcoming, even though we were enquiring about booking to stay there next time we are in Kefalonia. So with Mr Ponytail being so cold-hearted and rude we decided to leave and NEVER! return. And to tell all our friends on our return home, that are waiting to hear what our thoughts are after visiting the Oliemare, NOT to bother as there are plenty of other lovely inviting hotels & hosts to stay in Katelios. Especially the Pacifae Hotel."
Faro Del Porto ★★★
"I can't fault this Hotel, view is magical and all the staff are very welcoming and informative. I highly recommend this Hotel, I'll definitely be back. Dave, Plymouth."
Michaela ★★★
"Average hotel. Old rooms requires renovation. Too expensive for what it offers."
Blue Jasmine Hotel ★★★
"We spent 2 days at Blue Jasmine. The outside spaces are beautiful. Our room was at the back, so no views really. It was spacious and spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed. A little milk and a couple of tea bags would have been very welcome on arrival. Breakfast wasn’t great. The staff we met were pleasant."
La SkalaVista ★★★
"We had booked through Airtours holidays. On arrival at around 9.30 in the evening, we found the reception area and surroundings in darkness, had a good look round and not a soul in sight. There was a number on the door which I rang, no answer, as time went on, I tried ringing the EasyJet helpline, I dread to think what would have happened if this had been an emergency, as I gave up after 30 minutes, this is when someone turned up to give us out key. We had a family room which was large with a mezzanine floor, we only tried sleeping up there one night as the stairs were not very safe and ended up sleeping on the 2 couches in the living area. The standard of cleanliness was not great, bits on the floor still there after several days, However, the changing of towels and bedding was frequent. Breakfast was your usual continental fare, the biggest problem which has been mentioned several times in reviews was the very small sandwich toaster that was supposed to be used to make toast???? You would think with all the complaints about it they could have changed it for a toaster. Health and safety not very good here, one day a man got out of the pool and put his foot through a tile needing stitches. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs which were not lift, this resulted in my husband missing his footing and gashing his arm. The next day the lad at the pool bar asked what he’d done, surprisingly, that evening they had finally put new bulbs in. Overall, although this hotel is in a great position and only 5 minutes walk to both the beach and the main restaurant strip, it is in dire need of some TLC. "

Tesoro Blu Hotel & Spa Adults Only
"Lovely hotel, from the cooling welcome drink and buggy transfer to your spacious, well equipped room to the large, deep pool. Staff were extremely friendly and approachable and answered any query. We didn’t find the ‘rules’ to be a problem, standard really. We would buy water from the supermarket and store it in the room fridge and fill our chilly bottles to use by the pool with no problem. On the days we stayed by the pool, it was refreshing only to have low level music playing at the bar area, it was so peaceful. Towels are readily available from the lifeguard’s hut. Useful point, if ordering a club sandwich at the hotel for lunch, it’s enough for two! Very generous portions. The nearest beach area is a left turn out of the hotel and a couple of minutes walk. The small beach is shingled, so beach shoes needed for the sea. The price for two beds and a parasol is €10 and the lovely gentleman from the Waves snack bar opposite makes a regular, unobtrusive walk along to take drink/ food orders if needed. If you walk towards Skala, the beach widens and so do the bed prices! The walk to the centre of Skala takes about 20 minutes and a taxi back is €7 from the easily found rank. Great restaurant choices in this small resort and all the staff are so friendly."
Reveli Suites
"Reveli Suites is just a superb place to stay. The accommodation is without question one of the best apartments my wife and I have ever visited. Maria and her her family are just the nicest, kindest people and their attention to detail was amazing. The pool is so good and the grounds are immaculate. The breakfast on the patio was lovely and fresh every morning. It is so quiet but just a short walk away from a lovely beach, nice tavernas, small supermarkets and a really good bakery. We could not fault it in any way and would definitely recommend it for a relaxed stay. Nigel and Sally. UK."
Dalasvillas SkalaAcqua
"Amazing setting, beautifully kept villa with stunning views! This is our second stay year after year and we extended it this time. Kostas and the team are extremely hospitable, available, attentive and around for our every need. The villa is super private and quiet with everything you need to host a family of 6 or 3 couples. The location is perfect, set amongst the most pristine beaches of the island and steps from the best bars and restaurants. Cannot recommend it enough!"
