Argyll Hotel

The most disappointing experience we’ve ever had, anywhere! Booked for Sunday with our elderly mum and started off well, Raj our server was very polite and helpful. When we asked for water for our table the glasses were so filthy we couldn’t use them. The whole place was grubby and unloved, dread to think what the kitchen is like… We ordered starters and mains most of which was barely acceptable, however the steak pie meal was vile, rock solid pale pastry top, tough chewy cold steak and undercooked vegetables, which went uneaten, honestly the worst steak pie I’ve ever had in my life. When the tall waiter came to clear our plates we asked for desserts, he huffily replied “I can’t be serving customers and working in the bar at the same time”, he banged the plates on the counter at the side while muttering under his breath and then took them to the kitchen with a crash akin to throwing them down. He was extremely rude leaving us feeling like a complete inconvenience, vile and huffy and didn’t ask us if we wanted anymore drinks, we had to ask for desserts, only 2 of our party wanted anything else to eat or drink after being treated so appallingly. We were in shock and quickly left, instead of dealing with this untrained vile waiter at the bar we went to reception to pay and I asked to speak to the manager Joanna and left contact details as she wasn’t in, predictably she nor anyone else has contacted me. No toilet roll in the ladies toilets for atleast 2 hours either, what?! We will never step foot in this shambles of an establishment ever again, total embarrassment for Dunoon and I’m mortified for our whole town that unsuspecting tourists may end up here!

I have never stayed here but this is my second visit for food and again the worst ever customer service I have ever received for food! We came a couple of weeks ago and waited over an hour for our food then our food came before our drinks lol! We thought we would give it another go and my god never again. We arrived today at 5pm and ordered starters and main meals. After an hour our main meals appeared and we hadn’t even had our starters! They then brought out 2 starters we waited 10mins for cutlery to eat our starters and half an hour later still waiting on another 2 starters as we had ordered 4 starters That they didn’t know about lol. We are now near 2 hours in and still haven’t had our main meals! The place isn’t being ran properly and the service is the worst I have ever had in a restaurant! Please avoid

Was very disappointed. Did not want to stay in hotel but everywhere else was full..... Dinning room Staff on Saturday night worked really hard poor girl was running around never seemed to stop but had it all under control taking orders getting drinks sering food. The Curry was very Tasty there's a positive .

We stayed as a party of 3 in August for 3 nights for the Cowal gathering, the hotel location is great as you are amongst all of the action, all be it , it can be a bit noisy but the fair etc stopped at 10pm each night. First impressions weren't great, we arrived just before 7pm as we had advised and waited 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us at reception no apology given, minimal information given re breakfast times etc.. after settling into the room, we went to our booking at 7pm at the RIO restaurant. We were sat at a dirty table and felt like we were ignored the full evening, food took around 45 minutes to arrive although the restaurant was basically empty. The hotel itself is old & tired. We didn't feel clean when we were within the room and the beds are extremely uncomfortable. On the day we were checking out, we went down for breakfast around 9am (check-out 11am) came back up to the room to finish getting ready for the day to find room service had already been in the room to make the beds/change towels etc but my razor was missing???? Which is very bizarre. At checkout there was no consideration for our stay, no 'how was everything for you' it's as if they knew we had a terrible stay. Plates at breakfast were also greasy/dirty. But the food was good. We booked for next year on arrival, but I think I may be cancelling and looking at alternative options.

This was my 2nd trip to this hotel and I can't fault it or the staff. Food was lovely hotel was spotless and I'm booked in again for this Friday. I have also been to other hotels in this chain and have had good experiences. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to book a stay in Dunoon

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. For over £100 a night, I would expect this room not to have stains over the carpets, clumps of hair under the desk, hair in the sink and a dented bin. The entire hotel as a whole needs serious renovation, new carpets, new lift, new tiling, new bathrooms and soft furnishings.

Had a lovely meal at the hotel tonight. Kids meal portions great, and delicious. Adults had curries and were very good. Fish and chicken pakora very fresh and good portions, and curries really tasty. Friendly service and were helpful taking our booking when we couldn't quite confirm exact arrival time.

We had a lovely day visiting Dunoon until we visited this disaster of a place . As we had the dog with us we choose to sit in the beer Garden . We orderd inside at the bar and had drinks outside awaiting our food order . The waiter came out with two of three dishes orderd (wich was two steak pies and 1 Arrabbiata) but only the steak pies arrived the waiter advised the chef read the check wrong and was away his break and the other pasta dish would be out in twenty minutes absoloutley not on so i told him to cancel it he went inside and returned and said its ok it will only be three minutes now how can it go from 20 to 3 minutes what was i going to get given so i declined again . The two steak pies where edible but not worth the money and very poor standard . Someone then came out and mumbled about a refund and shoved a card machiene at us we had to ask them to explain what they meant we then tapped the card for a refund and instead of sorry or explanation he simply walked away we sat not sure if we had the refund or not . Then another man came out with a card machiene and said you need to tap card again we didnt refund you we charged you twice so now wee need to refund the double charge and the canceld dinner price . No apology , no customer service , no communication , it was if they simply didnt care about the disaster of customer care . The toilets are vile and the place needs an over haul . If you do go here wich i would highly advise not to. Then i would pay in cash at least you know you are not being ripped off

Went to the live music event 6th July 2024. Went with 2 friends and had a terrible time. The table was so dirty and sticky I had to clean it with wipes from my bag. The bar service was unbelievably slow with a poor selection. The worst part was the ladies toilet. It's a sing toilet and the worst I've ever been in. The sanitary bin is uncovered, the entire bathroom is grubby and dirty and there was no toilet paper or hand towels. The smell was so bad I couldn't stand to use the decrepit looking hand dryer. There is no ventilation whatsoever. We left after our first drink.
