The Clarendon

We stayed at The Clarendon during our trip to Dundee, and I was genuinely charmed by this hotel. The entire concept is beautifully thought-out — every detail, every colour choice, every texture feels carefully selected and perfectly balanced. The room was exceptionally comfortable, with a calm, elegant atmosphere that made us feel instantly at home. We had a gorgeous room overlooking the water. It’s the kind of view where you could easily sit for hours, enjoying a quiet dinner and a glass of champagne. In another situation, that’s exactly what we would have done — but that evening we had dinner out with the kids. One of the highlights was the fully equipped kitchen and dining area — everything from the glassware to the plates felt high-quality and aesthetically pleasing. I was especially impressed by the bathroom amenities from Arran. The scent was so beautiful that I ended up going to buy the products for myself afterwards. Another lovely touch was the selection of teas and the Dundee cake provided in the room. The Dundee cake made such an impression that we also had to buy one to take home. All I can say is: if we return to Dundee, we will absolutely stay at The Clarendon again.

LOCATION: 4/5: Quiet area, a short 6-8 min drive into the city centre. FACILITIES: 4/5: Very good quality Room-only hotel. Limited facilities as no breakfast/ reception/ bar; however it suited us perfectly as we were using the hotel as a base to attend a 2-day wedding in the area. There is parking on the street or at the back of hotel. SERVICE: 5/5: Excellent service from booking right through to departure. ROOMS: 5/5: Every comfort you could need. We were in a Junior suite on the ground floor. Our room was light, bright, spacious, clean, nicely furnished & decorated, with TV and plenty of storage. You can use Alexa to operate the lights/curtains etc! Bed was super comfy. The kitchenette was well equipped with kettle, crockery, cutlery, fridge etc. The bathroom had complimentary toiletries, modern fittings, and walk-in shower. Our view was across the car park to the rear of the hotel - not stunning, but quiet, which was fine. SUMMARY: Would recommend / stay here again.

Great location. Very clean and comfortable room. Host very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely stay again when back in Dundee.
