Seniors, people with disabilities or young children should not stay at this hotel. I'm an 80 y.o. Disabled Army Veteran, we rented 4 rooms for 3 days for our family of 12, including a baby. The hotel had Zero staff to help with anything, only a check-in lady to charge our credit card. Rates are very expensive compared to other nearby downtown hotels with assistance, staff, services and amenities. Below are our notes: *I had to struggle to park our car, get our luggage to our room, then, get it back downstairs, retrieve the car and load it myself. Seniors and people needing assistance beware. *Only self park across street only & very expensive  *There were flying bugs in the we had to kill *Unsafe. The only staff are the one or two people at the front desk 24-7. *Only one room key worked.  *No room makeup until you leave *No towel service. Extras needed were unavailable. Told to come back in the afternoon when some "might be available”. *Towels had holes in them *No manager on duty to assist guests with anything until we checked out *There are no guest or housekeeping. *There was an accident in a child's bed which required a sheet change. We made 2 requests. The twice guaranteed bedding change was never made. *The room phone was broken Only speaker worked *Ice only on 2 top floors *Only one coffee mug in the room.  *Tiny coffee maker in room broken  *Requested an extra blanket for baby, told “none available” *Luke warm coffee at breakfast  "Free" breakfast was of lower quality than a Budget Inn *No restaurant or lounge. *Toilet seat broken *Wifi barely worked *No drinking glasses in bathroom  *No extra blanket in rooms *A $50 charge was added on our credit card for nonexistent "ammenities" *No luggage carts to take luggage to room. This hotel is below what you would get in a hostel. It's the worst Hyatt we ever stayed in. The disrespect of the hotel for its guests resulted in our intent to cancel our Hyatt membership after 40+ years. Hyatt needs to set higher standards and monitor the investors who are responsible for this hotel.

If there’s more than 1 person checking in you’ll have to wait for somewhere to park. If you want a restful night sleep this is the wrong place. I could’ve had a better night sleep at a portion of the cost.

The staff at this hotel are fabulous - helpful, kind and nothing was too much trouble. The beds and bedding were SO comfortable. Downsides - the hotel is a bit tired and could do with some paint/modernising. And the breakfast (was tasty and good) but the cutlery/plates/cups are all disposable with no option to recycle these single use items.

The bathrooms were disgusting, the room smelt like cigarette smoke and the floor looked unvacuumed. My card failed to read on the parking garage so and i could not back up with the line of cars behind me. I brought this up to the front desk and they blamed me for the card not reading, which is fine maybe my phone did disable it, but the way she said it to me was wildly rude and I was super understanding when I approached her about the incident. If I give attitude or if I'm being a "Karen" I would expect that attitude, but I was not so that there gave me a bad taste. I was there for 4 nights, i had to be close to the convention I was there working for and had already paid with no cancellation. If I had wanted to bare the headache of leaving and finding a new hotel I definitely would have. I do not recommend this hotel.

Nice, clean facilities at a reasonable price. It was nicer than I expected, considering how affordable it was. We were a party of two adults, and only stayed one night. We did eat at the breakfast bar provided by the hotel, and that was a good experience. The tables were wiped clean as soon as people left, so you knew you were eating at a clean table. There was a decent variety of foods- scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage links, fruits, oatmeal cups, yogurt station, variety of cereals with a gluten free option, and a variety of pastries and bagels. I'm sure I missed a couple of items, but it was an overall nice selection. Beverages available included milk, orange juice, apple juice, hot water to make tea, and coffee. The food and beverages were kept at an appropriate temperature, and everything was tasty. We went to downtown Des Moines for a concert at the Casey's Center. The Hyatt hotel was a few blocks or so away from the venue, with the added benefit of the skywalks that connected the hotel to other downtown businesses. We were able to walk the entirety of our route from the hotel to the Casey's Center through the skywalks. This was a huge benefit for us. It saved us so much time and headache by not having to deal with parking and traffic. Overall, it was a nice place to stay at an affordable rate.

I always stay at the Hyatt when I am in town for the fair. The shuttle is close and the hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are large and breakfast is good. Nothing fancy, but a nice comfortable stay

This used to be out go to hotel when we had to go to Des Moines. It has been a few years since we stayed and we went to the State fair on Tuesday and booked here. When we checked in we were told our room was upgraded. I wish they hadn't done that. The room smelled musty, the furniture was damaged, the bed looked like it had been there for 20 years, the pillow top was smashed, it creaked every time you moved. Very little pressure in the shower. They no longer had valet parking but still had parking spots in the ramp across the street. She asked if we would be parking and I said yes and got a slip to park in the ramp. When we checked out, we got a $30 valet parking charge on our bill that I was not told about. Breakfast was OK, but they now use paper plates and plastic silverware. I get it that everyone is cutting back costs but other Hyatt's we have stayed recently still had good dishes. All in all, not a terrible experience but this place is in desperate need of updating. I guess we expect a better experience for the price.

Don’t think condition of the hotel rates the price of the room. Dated, thin towels, needed to go to front desk to pick up xtra blankets. Bed pretty uncomfortable. Front desk staff clearly “Iowa Nice” though!
