I hate leaving poor reviews because it's not the staffs fault, but Hilton needs to save this property. Great location but SO OUTDATED AND DIRTY!!! The beds feel like the 1980s spring loaded mattresses, and major water damage in our rooms window so much so the ceiling was falling in. The common areas were so worn and unkempt, but I do think they are also understaffed. The staff was kind, but the managers happy hour was terrible because the poor staff was being run ragged. The gentleman was so nice, but he was the only one. There was also a terrible thunderstorm and the entire atrium floor was wet due to the leaks from the ceiling. This hotel needs a major facelift, but worth the investment due to location.

Stayed here many times and it's a dated hotel that works for us. The location can not be beat, 3rd ward has grown and more to come. A lot of restaurants all over this town. Just take a walk in any direction you'll find a place to eat. Great food here at Liberty and very cozy bar, The staff here deserve recognition. Most have been here for years and their names are...Valerie, Kayla, Rachel and Manager - Lance. Great hard working team of a very warm welcoming staff. They are busy for Managers reception, two free drinks, 5:30/7:00 pm along with snacks. See ya next time, thanks for the hospitality. No more shuttle! This is unacceptable, so many guests need it. BRING IT BACK. Most Embassy Suites have a shuttle. Wth! Why has it been removed? Swimming pool is cold, no hot tub. All three elevators were operational and moved fast enough. Comfy bed.

This hotel has a wonderful staff, our experience was great when it came to the breakfast, service and reception. The hotel building itself needs a major upgrade. Varnish peeling off doors and trim, sink in the bathroom had a shatter in it, shower curtain rod was coming off the walls, registers where rusting out, carpet is thread bare, etc. What once was a pristine hotel need a major upgrade today while keeping the service that exists today.

Many positives to this hotel. Namely, the layout, the open areas with the rooms on the perimeter forming a great gathering place. The water fall feature serves as a soothing ambiance still allowing conversations. The rooms themselves were quite quiet. Cook to order breakfast was delicious, as was the evening grill orders you could get. Too bad they didn't have an option for lunch or late bar orders. Our groups only united complaint.

Nice and clean inside with great cocktail hour and buffet breakfast. Just be careful about parking because the hotel charges $25 to use their underground parking and street parking is metered except on weekends. Also, take care of their WIFI service because you can easily get charged $5 for using the service. Otherwise, pretty great place to visit.

I have been staying at this hotel with my kids for a number of years while visiting family in Des Moines. Unfortunately our most recent stay will likely be our last. The hotel has not kept up with maintenance and basic cleaning. The air conditioning barely works, it was very humid in the entire hotel including the rooms, the beds were hard and outdated, mold in the shower, dark rooms, etc…. We stayed two nights and no housekeeping came to our room even though we saw them in the hall. The people working in the hotel are nice but it doesn’t make up for the lousy rooms and overall condition of the hotel. I hope for the sake of the staff Hilton decides to renovate this hotel. It needs a lot of work.

Love the location and the extra sitting room when traveling with family. Place really needs some updating. Our bathroom had a broken door and rust all over the tub. It was probably really nice 20 years ago

The hotel is very nice, there was construction outside our room and it woke us up early. The beds are very uncomfortable and hard as a rock. There were a few flying bugs in our bathroom sink. Other than that it’s a nice hotel

The staff was absolutely amazing, i did get a free upgrade and got the river view which was lovely. The room was very spacious and clean. My only complaint is the ac vents had something resembling mold in them.
