Stayed the night - room was ok , beds comfortable, but the people above us really noisy -maybe signs in the upstairs rooms to remind people that their rooms are above other people ? Evening meal was poor - not even average pub grub . We’d invited some friends down to join us - embarrassing! Breakfast was good Staff are lovely and the one redeeming feature of our stay. Really difficult for someone in a wheelchair to get from the hotel to the pub - it’s through the car park and the camber makes it very difficult. Used to be able to use the back door (if you could get through the cars) but that’s out of use now. Please have a look at your disabled access. We’ve stayed here several times as it’s convenient to visit family and friends - the evening meal just seems to be sliding down the hill .

The staff & pub was pleasant enough. Main road near by didn’t cause too much noise, but were woken by noisy, seemingly unnecessary repairs. We didn’t have the breakfast or carvery, due to the prices & no vegan/celiac options. Unfortunately, our room left much to be desired. Many vital repairs needed!! 3/4 lamps were broken, one bedside table was missing & there was no latch on the door. The room was stiflingly hot, even when the weather outside was cool- the safety lock on the windows all but prevented ventilation & the desk fan provided was loud & caked in dust. The bedsheets didn’t fit, exposing a yellowed mattress. No headboard on the bed, and a disgustingly thick layer of dust suggests under & around the bed is rarely, if ever, hoovered. Bathroom fixtures covered in limescale & rust & the extractor fan did barely anything (making the room even more humid when the shower was used- which had 2 settings (boiling hot or tepid)) Bath fixture broken. Ceiling, floor & counter all badly water damaged and cracked, with signs of mould. Our door keys broke & it was implied it was our fault. Housekeeping knocked & tried to enter while “do not disturb” sign was on door, and over 30 minutes before our checkout. Only by putting the chair under the door (due to lack of latch) were we not walked in on, undressed. All in all, very disappointing. We only saw 2 housekeepers for around 40 rooms, which seems understaffed & unfair on them. The pub staff seemed spread thin also between hotel check-in & the bar with the phone left ringing continuously & often while they served drink. My sympathy & credit to them for their persistence & pleasant service, in an environment that left much wanting.

Shocking customer service, Arrived 18/08 for an overnight stay before starting a 36 hr shift, No hot running water and when i complained i was told by a not very cheerful member of staff "oh yeh we are aware of that we are waiting for a plumber" how can you rent rooms knowing there is no hot water. i did contact the the kings Highway to request a refund but they chose to ignore this request but ask me instead if my wife enjoyed the stay and to post it in social media. please see below my message 1st then their reply. Please can you advise me on how to get a refund for my wife's stay last night, she is about to start a 36hr shift and was not able to shower, when she complained she was told by a member of your staff oh we are aware of this as we are waiting for a plumber. rooms should not be rented out if they have no hot running water. she was also kept awake late and from 0540 this morning by the slamming of the door next to her room. 09:53 Kings Highway, Derby by Marston's Inns Dear xxxxx, We'd like to sincerely thank you for staying with us at Kings Highway Derby.
